Is the sky a horrible colour where you are?

It's so strange here (London) - sort of sepia with undertones of greenish yellow! I don't remember ever seeing such an unappealing sky.

Where we were it was orange. When I got in the car to drive it was raining and when the windscreen wipers were going it he screen had all dirt/mud on it. Very strange Confused

Suffolk yellowish tint to sky & raining miserable but thanks to antibiotic I can't go out in sunlight without sunblocker/dark glasses etc (I feel like a vampire) so I guess this weather is good for me - sigh

@TheYearOfSmallThings

But there is no wind though?

Mmm, browny orange shit! Something to look forward to.

There’s always wind. The air has currents similar to how the ocean does.

It’s very pretty - I really like it!

babybunny123 · 16/03/2022 15:49

Here in Manchester it is the usual grey sky with a bit of drizzle

Narutocrazyfox · 16/03/2022 15:51

Not the red dust again!!! I just washed my car 😂😭

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 16/03/2022 15:51

Bucks/Berks and the sky has a very definite orange tint. I expect the car to be covered in sand tomorrow.

lllllllllll · 16/03/2022 15:53

Nothing in South Wales. They did say the SE would get it first. I'm hoping we get to see it.*

@Northernsoullover see what - a slightly yellowish sky? It's really not that interesting to be honest!

@Cornettoninja you can have different wind speeds at different heights - in my one of previous jobs eons ago we use to get info from met office on wind speed at 2000 feet at & at ground level with wind direction & temp & visibility (hourly & if it changed) You can have little or no wind at ground level & winds of over 100 miles per hour at 2000 feet & even slightly different wind directions (very odd sounding) & fast ground speed & slower winds at 2000 feet also clouds can have up & down air currents (especially cumulus nimbus - thunder clouds) this means the wind can pick up sand at ground level & carry it x miles & dump it on your car

mumwon · 16/03/2022 15:58

(also air pressure info now guess what I was doing Grin)

liquidrevolution · 16/03/2022 15:59

light grey/green here in Reading

nearlyspringyay · 16/03/2022 16:01

Car is covered in dust / sand. I don't remember seeing it here for a looooong time but I'm sure it happened quite a few times when I was a kid. 80s, London.

AlisonDonut · 16/03/2022 16:04

Here in South West France we woke up to orange yesterday. No sky sky, just orange. And sand everywhere, including in the car.

It is less orange today and less windy. But still no sky at all.

Apparently we have another 2-3 days of this. It makes my eyes sting every time I go out.

Yes, the same here in Hertfordshire., yellowy grey. and raining a bit. but quite mild. i just had a local newspaper feed, that said we might get a snow bomb here in the next week or so, I assume that it means a whole lot of snow in just a small area, maybe just my village !!

Buddywoo · 16/03/2022 16:19

It's a regular occurrence in Spain. Saharan dust rain happens several times a year. It will be mixed with the yellow pine pollen this time. Lovely.
