(venting)

and bought from Currys so having to do the "you need to speak to the manufacturer" dance.

Grrrr.

HISENSE if anyone wants to give them a swerve.

To be fair when it worked it was OK. Until it stopped hearing the water with an error code "E4 - Temperature sensor" (you don't say ....).

Annoyingly it had two rare features ... a proper time display and a dedicated cutlery tray.

I've never heard of a cutlery tray. Could you post a link?

GiantKitten · 15/03/2022 16:12

Try googling the make, model and error message and see if there’s a DIY fix for it.

I had a mad error message on my w/m, someone suggested doing that and I found how to eliminate it.

Have a look at this.

Google any dishwasher, most of them have them these days.
Whitefire · 15/03/2022 16:13

It is Currys responsibility to sort it.

GiantKitten · 15/03/2022 16:13

Mine was this (it happened to come up in my FB memories today Grin)

Turn dial to 15 min quick wash, press and hold on button, bingo!

Surprisingly enough, it's a tray to put cutlery in rather than a basket.
Oddbutnotodd · 15/03/2022 16:14

It’s not fit for purpose. Up to the retailer to sort it.

Was £269 when we bought it.

There's a 3rd tray at the top that takes cutlery and saves space in the lower basket. And you can pop a part of it out if you have anything tall in the middle tray.

Plus the proper time display (not quite sure why things have suddenly gone all 1980s again ?).

But if you can’t fix it like that, agree with others that it’s Curry’s responsibility, they’re just trying to fob you off Angry

I had this with a PlayStation from Curries. They need to be reminded your contract is with Curry’s not the manufacturer.

Have you tried to get hold of anyone at Currys ? I have. Which is why I didn't post this 3 hours ago when I started. (Still haven't, by the way).

Whitefire · 15/03/2022 16:20

Who installed it? It possibly is an issue with the install.

Fernandina · 15/03/2022 16:22

Tell their customer service that your contract is with them and not the manufacturer, and you don't want it repaired. You are demanding either a replacement or a full refund. By law, goods have to last a reasonable amount of time, and 7 weeks is not it.

Tell me you used your credit card to pay for it...?

GMH74 · 15/03/2022 16:24

I had this with a laptop from Currys PC World.

I can't get hold of their customer service. Honestly.

Recent events have seen me cut up any form of credit card. This was paid for debitwise.

Installation ? Well it went exactly into the space the last (10 year old) dishwasher came out of. 1 hose into the existing water supply. 1 hose into the existing drain outlet. And one plug into the existing wall socket. Not quite sure how hard that is to get wrong.

Anyway, just thought I'd drop this here as a warning.

Have you tried twitter?

BertyFlanter · 15/03/2022 17:05

I had a Hisense dishwasher with exactly the same issue on about the fourth time of using it. The customer service from the manufacturer was really quick, especially since it was in lock down. Unfortunately the part required was going to be a good few weeks so I had to get a refund and buy another one.
The online retailer wasn't so good but I did get a refund eventually.

Was a shame as the Hisense came with a lot of high end features. I definitely would have kept it if it could have been fixed in a reasonable time.
I ended up paying twice the price for a Bosch one which has been fantastic. I didn't want to pay that much but I'd set my heart on the features it had (including the essential cutlery tray!)

MintyFreshBreath · 15/03/2022 17:37

How annoying. Perhaps give up on the phone calls for today and get on the phone the instant they open tomorrow? I’d be raging too though if it was me so you have my sympathy. I’d also be wanting a replacement and try to wangle free installation too so if it goes wrong then they can’t say you did anything wrong in the installation phase.

VeloHostage · 22/03/2022 16:34

Having done things "by the book" and logged a repair call out with HiSense for today (who didn't show) it seems their idea of "excellent" customer service is:

  1. "We never said the engineer would ring to confirm"
  • they did as my call recording demonstrated
  1. We'll arrange another day (week after next now) for the engineer to call

  2. Worse things happen at sea.

Might move this into legal, as it seems to me it's not my fault their engineer (actually a subcontractor) could be arsed to visit and confirm the fault so as far as I am concerned this is a dead duck.

I guess the key message here is avoid Currys selling HiSense.

Shame as the NorthEast use to have a wonderful reputation in engineering excellence ....

@VeloHostage If you take a look through this guide, it'll tell you exactly what your rights are. Your contract is with Currys so it's important to protect your rights that you pursue them: www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/somethings-gone-wrong-with-a-purchase/return-faulty-goods/

nuffinimlazyatthemoment · 22/03/2022 16:48

I'm sorry to reiterate what others have said but your contract is with Curry's not the manufacturer. After seven weeks you're entitled to a replacement or a full refund. They're not allowed to fob you off like this by telling you to go through the manufacturer.

Even if you bought it online, I'd be kicking up a stink and going into one of their stores and telling them to contact head office. It's too easy for them to keep passing the buck because they can't be arsed to deal with it.

skippy67 · 22/03/2022 16:49

Currys are notorious for this. A TV we bought from them went kaput after 2 months. They refused to replace it, told us we had to get it repaired, basically anything to wash their hands of us. That was 15 years ago and I've never bought from them again.
