Condenser tumble dryer recommendations anyone?

I’m moving to a tiny flat. We aren’t supposed to dry washing on radiators and it’s so small I don’t want an airer with washing around drying for days. I’ve no outside area to hang anything outdoors. So I’m thinking of taking out a kitchen cupboard to make room for a dryer. I need something as cheap as possible but reliable and good if such a thing exists. Any recommendations are appreciated.

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’re looking for tumble dryers, we’ve recently updated our best tumble dryer page with lots of great options rated by Mumsnet users, plus info on condenser dryers. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

Beko! Ours is fab.

badlydrawnbear · 13/03/2022 22:02

I was going to say don’t get mine, it’s shit. It’s a Beko.

Houseplantmad · 13/03/2022 22:05

Get a heat pump dryer - cheaper to run. Ours is a Baumatic integrated and I love it.

LightSpeeds · 13/03/2022 22:06

I've got a Beko DTBC 10001.

I think it's really good.

MNchicken · 13/03/2022 22:06

Do you happen to know which model of Beko you have Hugasauras.

Houseplantmad. That’s above my budget. I’d have liked a heat pump one.

We have an Electra from ao.com. Had it a couple of years and it’s brilliant. Much better than our previous hotpoint

EmergencyPoncho · 13/03/2022 22:17

I did have the cheapest one, a White Knight, and it was pretty good. I'm on a Beko now and it's good. Be aware they don't tend to last as long as normal dryers...

mnahmnah · 13/03/2022 22:18

This one - out of stock on ao but I think you can get it at Currys, Argos etc

Mine is about four years old now so I doubt they do the same model any more. It's just a bog standard Beko condenser though. Four years of heavy use and it works perfectly!

flower277 · 13/03/2022 22:33

We have a Beko, it’s almost 10 years old, used loads. Would recommend!

MNchicken · 13/03/2022 22:35

Thanks this is helpful .

our Beko was brilliant and lasted 15 years of family use. Now have a Bosch which was around £600 as the shop dont do beko anymore. It is fine but would have been equally as happy with a £200 Beko

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 13/03/2022 22:38

We have a zanussi heat pump dryer and I love it...... British gas probably doesn't tho, it's so much cheaper to use!

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 13/03/2022 22:40

The one before that was a 15 yr old indesit. It still worked I just wanted one that was more energy efficient so freegled that one.

Overtheroadroundthecorner · 13/03/2022 22:40

We have a heat pump dryer. It’s fab. So pleased with it.

Jellybean23 · 13/03/2022 22:53

We have an AEG, it's getting old now - 14 years - but it's great. No moisture escaping into the room.

Playplayaway · 13/03/2022 22:59

We have a 5 year old Beko condenser. I think it cost around £250. No issues at all. I don't dry from completely wet unless it's an emergency. I hang outside or on an airer and finish off for a few minutes in the dryer to soften and avoid ironing.

Bluebellsandbroomsticks · 13/03/2022 23:12

I have a 6 year old Beko that was about £250 and it lives in the garage and has never caused me a problem! I use it about 3 times a week on average.

Bubblesandsqueak1 · 13/03/2022 23:13

Avoid hotpoint at all costs we have had 3 all break within 9 months each time or ended up recall model

MNchicken · 13/03/2022 23:55

Thanks everyone. I’m going to check out which beko ones my budget will run to.

Bubbleandsqueak. Hotpoint used to be such a respected make but over the last 5 years their stuff all across the board seems to get poor reviews.

Never heard of these until now. Thanks - just googled.
PutinSmellsPassItOn · 14/03/2022 08:04

Op, we were told to avoid hotpoint over 20 years ago by our appliance fixy guy. God knows what went wrong as they were always the go to brand for my mum and very reliable.

MNchicken · 14/03/2022 09:42

Yes Hotpoint we’re the go-to make when I was younger. Very sad it’s gone to the dogs.
