Left necklace in Hotel room but it's gone

Any advice. I'm absolutely gutted. I had a necklace that I rarely wore, huge sentimental value, special occasion so wore it. Had a shower and put it on the shelf in the bathroom. Forgot about it as not used to wearing it. Left at 12, rang in a panic at 12.45 and it's gone. Hotel couldn't actually care less, it's gone tough! reported to Police but nothing they can do. I know it's my own fault, I'm kicking myself but is there anything at all I can do.

Why do people always insist that hotel cleaners must be stealing their items when they aren't actually worth a lot of money anyway? (Reminds me of the many "the charity shop staff will have stolen it").

Isn't it much more likely that the cleaner went it and just dumped the necklace/phone charger/etc. in a bin while cleaning?

I wish karma was a thing

Karma is a thing;

Now as a man is like this or like that,
according as he acts and according as he behaves, so will he be;
a man of good acts will become good, a man of bad acts, bad;
he becomes pure by pure deeds, bad by bad deeds;

And here they say that a person consists of desires,
and as is his desire, so is his will;
and as is his will, so is his deed;
and whatever deed he does, that he will reap.

Where is this quote from please?

I would ring again and ask to speak with the head of housekeeping. Ask her to check who entered the room afterwards and ask could the trolley they use be checked in case they found it and forgot to hand it in. Also ask that they check with the laundry particularly if it is an off site one in case the necklace got caught up in the towels.

@Oblomov22

Police are useless aren't they? Totally non interested. So sorry OP. Sad
Police are massively underfunded, under resourced and over stretched.

Fixed that for you

@clairethewitch70

It's from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, (7th century BCE).

I had this happen in a hotel too. It's very upsetting.

Did you take any photos that night wearing it? That's proof you had it there
