Semantle episode 3

Somehow we've almost filled 2 threads already so here is thread 3. I still need a distraction from the news, and Semantle certainly fits the bill.

To understand what I'm on about followthis link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

FFS. I gave up and now I’m really irritated because how the hell are 952 and 953 related?!

You could make a sentence with either of those and the target word, they're not related to each other.

That, and 786 are words you could use in a sentence with the solution (or similar words to it).

But you could make a sentence out of anything!

What's your highest @Wallawallakoala ?

@Wallawallakoala 964 is the closest to a synonym out of those. "Info 964/target..." perhaps in a police context?

994 is the highest. I'm actually laughing at the clues and the words I have and how I have no idea I'll put my brain in gear in a second.

I solved Semantle #38 in 193 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 7.58. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #55. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 15.70. semantle.novalis.org/

You lot are making me feel much better. Nearly 300 guesses in, 15 guesses are green, closest is #882....

... I am so glad I gave up!

From the hints on here I get the feeling I've gone up a long blind alley. Is 112 a better road to pursue?

That took me all day

I solved Semantle #38 in 120 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of -4.02. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #5. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 24.91 (448/1000). https://semantle.novalis.org/

Now got to 997. been feeding in so many synonyms I think I can go for an alternative career as a thesaurus.
