Would you judge us? (Lighthearted question)

This is lighthearted I am just wondering what others are thinking about us. Currently on holiday and on the first day DS (age 2) ruined his outfit before we had even left the hotel at breakfast. Since then we have brought him down in his PJs. I have noticed a few looks from other guests looking at DS. Not sure if it's because he is still in his PJs or not.
Just wondering would you judge us for this?

A 2 year old, no. If the parents were in their pyjamas I'd think "bloody hell" 😐

girlmom21 · 06/03/2022 17:42

@Ginger1982

I would probably just put a massive bib on him! I mean, how many pairs of pjs did you bring? Is he going to bed every night in food stained pjs?
People are more likely to look strangely at a 2 year old in a bib (where's OP supposed to get an oversized bib?) than pyjamas...
Ginger1982 · 06/03/2022 18:04

@girlmom21 I was still using one of those bibs with the turned up edges that catches all the food when DS was 2 😂

Moneyhunter · 06/03/2022 18:06

No I wouldn’t judge you in the slightest, don’t give random strangers a second thought. Even if they are judging you stuff them

girlmom21 · 06/03/2022 18:09

There's no way my 2 year old would tolerate any kind of bib 🙈 to be fair she tried to pull them off for the whole time I did use them Grin

Onemorebaby · 06/03/2022 18:18

Not at all. Good idea to have breakfast in pjs then change. I think i would do the same otherwise that's a lot of outfits to sort and pack rather than a few extra pjs. They don't stay little for long either

Hellocatshome · 06/03/2022 18:39

I'm impressed you packed enough PJs for 1 pair a day.

WhatICallMyUsername · 06/03/2022 18:42

My 2 year old DS actually shouts for his bib with turned up edges if he has yoghurt as even he knows he'll have a meltdown at the slightest bit on his clothes!

coffeebabes · 06/03/2022 18:46

No I wouldn't judge, my 2 year old always spills his cereal or wipes his buttery hands all over his pj's, what's the point of wearing a nice clean outfit just for breakfast to then have to change him, doesn't make sense Smile I judge other Mumsnetters for judging you! Grin

GoogleWhacked · 06/03/2022 18:46

I always brought my dc to hotel breakfast in their PJs at that age. No one will judge, and if they do it is their issue.

RandomQuest · 06/03/2022 18:47

I think you’re being very sensible!

The only time I’ve ever judged holiday breakfast attire was a woman wearing a bathrobe and very little else, there might have been knickers but the lack of top/bra/swimsuit was very obvious. Weirdly we were in a ski resort so she definitely wasn’t off for a topless sunbathe after her croissant.

A toddler in pyjamas is absolutely fine!

Lou98 · 06/03/2022 18:49

I wouldn't judge at all - what's the point in putting clean clothes on them for them to get dirty 5mins later.
We eat our breakfast in PJs at home for this exact reason.

My Son is only 9 months but loves his food and makes a mess so he does wear a different pair of PJ's every night - makes more sense for him to wear one pair of PJ's every night than two outfits every day because he's got filthy.

rainbowandglitter · 06/03/2022 19:08

I assume they are clean pj's every night and he isn't sleeping in dirty pj's accumulating bean juice every day?

yellowdress123 · 06/03/2022 19:16

For some reason I have packed 6 PJs for a 7 night stay Confused. It was abit of a last minute plan so I packed hurriedly and just grabbed what was in the draw. Im hoping one day this week he doesn't make a mess or he will be coming down in his vest on the final day Grin.

Yes definitely no chance of a bib. We would instead be judged for the meltdown he would be having.

No I wouldn't judge you, I would do the same in your shoes and wouldn't give a shiny shite what anyone else thought about it. Don't waste your holiday worrying/caring what other people think, you're meant to be enjoying yourself Flowers

Spud1130 · 06/03/2022 19:30

I would judge you. I would judge you for being far more sensible than I am, and then follow suit (pyjamas!) the next day.

(Owner of a 3 year old who eats cereal with his hands 🤦‍♀️)

Plinkyplonkyplonk · 06/03/2022 19:45

Christ what ever you don't give any tech or anything at the table .....then you're doomed.

Haa nope, sounds pretty sensible to me!!

TabithaTittlemouse · 06/03/2022 19:55

I think it’s really sensible!

TabithaTittlemouse · 06/03/2022 19:56

Where are you holidaying?

greenlynx · 06/03/2022 20:14

I prefer to put my nice holiday clothes after breakfast, just in case.
I wouldn’t go down in my pjs of course, just yesterday clothes.
A couple of times I took DD to see paediatrician in her pjs to make undressing/ dressing simpler when she was about the same age. Paediatrician’s look was certainly judgy.

yellowdress123 · 06/03/2022 20:44

@TabithaTittlemouse

Where are you holidaying?
Scared to answer this question as Mumsnet doesn't seem too fond of this location... We are in Dubai. (I have family that live here before anyone judges Grin.)

If it was DH in his pyjamas yes I would but not a 2 year old DD

There's a man in his late 80s on my estate who was walking his dogs in his pyjama bottoms the other day. He said they're warmer than trousers. I don't think there's anything wrong with a grown man in his pyjamas Grin
HotChoc10 · 07/03/2022 08:26

A two year old?! Definitely not. Are you sure they're looking in a judgemental way?
