Do your friends acknowledge your Children's birthdays?

General question, more so relating to your close friends, do they acknowledge your childrens birthdays? Not so much gifts but maybe a card, a call/text to pass on a birthday message, a visit on the day sort of thing

No far too many of us have 2 or more children . It’s hard enough keeping up with nieces and nephews.

Bdhntbis · 04/03/2022 08:24

A text and some give a card; I do the same as if they are important to me as a friend then so are their kids. I don’t normally do presents though as it just gets a bit much

BeHappy91818 · 04/03/2022 08:24

Yes every year I get a text/card or a present for them from my close friends and I do the same in return

Yes always send and receive cards, and my best friend sends presents (and I reciprocate with her DC)

tinytoucan · 04/03/2022 08:26

Some do, some don’t. None of them visit or call (I wouldn’t expect them to) but a couple do send messages or a card. We have 2 close fiends who do presents (we do for their kids too).

LightDrizzle · 04/03/2022 08:27

No.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 04/03/2022 08:27

No - I'm not sure they know how old they are. I have one friend whose child is friends with ds2 so they mark it sometimes.

Hiddenvoice · 04/03/2022 08:28

I’ve always acknowledged friends childrens birthdays. I’ve not bought them a present unless I’ve been invited to a party but I will text on the day to say happy birthday. Some of our other friends don’t but I think it’s down to how use you are to being around children. Im pregnant and know some of my friends will be quite involved and want to be around myself and the baby whereas others would prefer to jusg see me and that’s fine.
I wouldn’t expect any of them to buy my children presents unless they are very close to them. I probably wouldn’t be posting on social media about my child’s birthday so I’d doubt any of them would remember to text or phone unless I tell them about it.

PurpleDaisies · 04/03/2022 08:29

I’m guessing you’re pissed off someone hasn’t acknowledged your child’s birthday?

DelurkingAJ · 04/03/2022 08:29

No, and I’d be mildly horrified if they did. I’d have to be texting someone on the right day most weeks. Hard enough keeping up with godchildren and nieces and nephews!

JustDanceAddict · 04/03/2022 08:29

A message if they/I remember on the day. FB is useful for this.
When they were young and had parties, it was different.

axolotlfloof · 04/03/2022 08:31

No, although we did when kids were tiny. Now they are teens/tweens we don't.

Phos · 04/03/2022 08:31

My mum friends usually do and a few of my close friends. Just a text though unless they happen to be coming to a party. Wouldn’t expect any more and if someone forgets that’s fine, we are all busy people.

Thatsplentyjack · 04/03/2022 08:32

Usually a text. No presents of cards but I only have a few really close friends but of my really close friends including my kids there's 14 kids and I have other kids

Thatsplentyjack · 04/03/2022 08:33

Not in my friends group aswell, so it's too many.

MiddleParking · 04/03/2022 08:36

We generally all exchange comments on Facebook posts when it’s our kids’ birthdays. I wouldn’t expect anyone outside my immediate family to remember the dates.

GiantSpider · 04/03/2022 08:36

Some do but I don't get upset if they don't.

KatieKat88 · 04/03/2022 08:37

Mum friends do and our 'pre-kids friends' those with kids themselves generally do too - I think for most of my friends I'd need to remind them/post something on social media for them to remember. I don't get offended by that - pretty sure most of my friends only remember my own birthday because Facebook pops up and tells them! Only really get presents/cards for DD if there's a party (and none for me Grin)

DelurkingAJ · 04/03/2022 08:37

Although it does occur to me that if we all lived locally I might…most of my dearest friends DC I see once or twice a year if that…if we saw them weekly I might do differently and get a card. But, to be fair, if they were local we’d be going to birthday parties etc too.

Lyricallie · 04/03/2022 08:40

There are only 2 kids in our friendship group so I always send card and a gift to the kids. I imagine I would always do something but depends how many kids end up being in the group lol.

MistyFrequencies · 04/03/2022 08:41

No. And I don't want them to, then I'd have to remember maybe 15 more birthdays than I already have to. And my kids don't care, so it would be pointless.

MajorCarolDanvers · 04/03/2022 08:44

No and I don't with theirs.

It's hard enough keeping track of nieces and nephews without friends kids too.

SirChenjins · 04/03/2022 08:46

One of our friends is very good at remembering all the DCs birthdays and that acts as a prompt for us all to wish them happy birthday on the WhatsApp group. I can barely remember my own birthday these days, not a hope in hell I’d remember them without my friend’s reminder.

LadyPropane · 04/03/2022 08:49

No, not usually.

There are a few friends who live close by and our children are the same age, and those ones will usually invite my kids to their birthday party, so they will get a card and present.

I wouldn't expect any of my friends to text me to acknowledge my children's birthdays and I wouldn't do it for them.

FluffyBooBoo · 04/03/2022 08:51

Nope.. And I don't acknowledge their children's birthdays. And we don't do Christmas stuff for them either.

It just all gets a bit silly imo, easier just to stick to immediate family.
