I think I have a tiny bit of dimpling on my breast...

I definitely have a tiny dimpling underneath my left breast. I can only see it when I lift my arm as I'm a bit on the droopy side tbh... would this need looking at do you think!?!
Feel a bit shaken by it.

Guessing you’re at the doctors now. If they refer you for two week wait appointment, don’t panic as that’s totally normal. Doctors would rather refer than not when it comes to breast concerns, and actually, it’s quite reassuring to know you’ll be seen quickly, and get a diagnosis, rather than waiting for months.

Wishing you well.

Riverlee · 01/03/2022 16:46

Or not a diagnosis (hopefully)

OrlandointheWilderness · 01/03/2022 16:48

I'm clearly going mad. The doctor was very dismissive and told me she couldn't see anything at all. I've just check when I got home and it is still there!!

Definitely still there!!

That's frustrating OP. If you've noticed a change like that then I would expect a referral to breast clinic. I think wait a few days and do another econsult

OrlandointheWilderness · 01/03/2022 16:59

She made me feel like I was being really daft. Then told her to see if it was still there after my next period - this was after I told her I don't have them as I run the pill together!

I was at the breast clinic this morning as a routine mammogram showed something up.

The thing they emphasised the most was to look out for changes.

Somethings are ok if they are normal for you, such as I have a nipple that inverts regularly since I was a teen and it is normal for me, but if it inverted permanently that would be a change for me, whereas if your nipple never inverts then it should be checked out.

So if your dimple wasn't there before or you never noticed it before it is always worth getting it checked out.

alwaysontheloo · 01/03/2022 17:06

Make another appointment OP and demand to be seen by a different GP. We can all see it and it's definitely there so although it's no doubt nothing you still need to be checked out properly.
I hate it when GPs dismiss things like this without proper investigation.

MesMidgeMaisel · 01/03/2022 17:09

Just another one adding that I can definitely see it OP. Thanks Make sure you get another appointment, and follow this up.

Hospedia · 01/03/2022 17:10

I was also at the breast clinic today after noticing a thickened area in one breast and a small lump in other.

I had a examination from the consultant followed by a mammogram and an ultrasound then back to the consultant for the results. It's never a fun time getting your tits out in front of a series of strangers but everyone was very kind, very chatty, and I felt like my dignity and comfort were respected the entire time. I got the results there and then too, the thickening is the result of scar tissue from a surgery a couple of years ago and the lump is a small, harmless cyst that should go away on its own.

NarrowHippedVixen · 01/03/2022 17:13

Do get it checked out - call again and ask to talk to another GP, show the photo.

I had this and it turned out to be nothing, the hospital specialist thought it was some kind of scarring or something. Just as a note of reassurance that it's not always a "bad" thing!

Ladylornax12 · 01/03/2022 17:15

I think it looks like an old stretch mark but best to get it checked

lechatnoir · 01/03/2022 17:18

You might be able to self refer to your local breast clinic. There are 2 near me as I did exactly this after a similarly dismissive GP appointment and was seen within 4 days. If not ask to see a 2nd GP - op this the one time you go with your gut and keep pushing until you feel someone has taken your concerns seriously and at the very least examined you thoroughly if not asked for a scan.

OrlandointheWilderness · 01/03/2022 17:21

I've waded through the econsult form again and sent them the bloody photos! 😂 I had an issue with bleeding from the nipple a couple of years ago on this side and that coupled with my family history (maternal GM died of BC) makes me a bit more aware I think. Last time they said that any changes at all need to be thoroughly looked at!

Justkeepon · 01/03/2022 17:26

Did you show her the photo OP. I wouldn't accept her dismissiveness your health is too important, ask for another GP

OrlandointheWilderness · 01/03/2022 17:30

I didn't actually - when they eventually rang at 2.30 I was miles away! I rushed back to the car and flew home by which point I'd given myself a lovely ocular migraine which meant I could see my phone screen at all!!
I've sent them the photos now.

TheUsualChaos · 01/03/2022 17:34

Can't believe GP dismissed it when you have a strong family history as well! Good job doing econsult again. Hopefully won't be anything but better safe than sorry.

FluffyScarves · 01/03/2022 17:36

Bravo. Do e consult again and request other doctor. I can do that on my doctors website.

Clovertoast · 01/03/2022 17:42

OP I work in breast cancer services. You don't have to wait for them to confirm whether or not they can see it. You can. You, the patient will always notice changes before anyone else.
Be polite but firm and ask them to refer you to your local breast clinic on the 2 week pathway.
We are seeing 2ww patient's promptly and on time.
As a patient you are entitled to request a referral.
With your family history you should of course get any changes loomed at.
I can see dimpling, it can be many things but you need a mammogram.
Good luck, be firm Flowers

OrlandointheWilderness · 01/03/2022 17:45

@Clovertoast thank you so much for your response, I can't tell you how wonderful it was to feel like someone who works in that area of care isn't dismissing me. I've said I want a second opinion and I will be insisting on a referral.

BeanAnTae · 01/03/2022 17:52

What Clover says ⬆️ Orlando - push this. I can see the indent. I had one too in the same area. It was a benign cyst only visible on ultrasound. Needs to be checked at the breast clinic.

BeanAnTae · 01/03/2022 17:53

I'm really annoyed the doctor dismissed this 😡

OrlandointheWilderness · 01/03/2022 17:58

Thanks @BeanAnTae I will.

Riverlee · 01/03/2022 18:05

How frustrating! Definitely another appointment!

Teacupsandtoast · 01/03/2022 18:17

Definitely push for a referral. I've been referred today for a possible cyst
