Feeling a bit sad I totally didn't notice it. Apparently lots of places around Bham felt it. I was on a bus and felt nothing.

I felt nothing, was watching TV.Lots of posts on our local Facebook page from people who were woken up by it.

ExhaustedMumma · 22/02/2022 02:30

Nothing felt here either. I was in bed asleep. Baby DS did wake up a few minutes after that time and DD also joined us in bed so I’m wondering if it did disturb them. I’m so sleep deprived I’d probably sleep through anything at the moment though.

KatieKat88 · 22/02/2022 03:00

When did this happen? (In case you can't tell, I also did not notice it!)

Danikm151 · 22/02/2022 03:06

I didn’t notice this!

ExhaustedMumma · 22/02/2022 03:26

Actually the article linked above says 10.30pm

StormyWindow · 22/02/2022 04:32

I'm in Walsall and we definitely heard/felt it! We were watching tv and there was this sudden sort of creaking, groaning sound, the house felt like it was shaking and then there was a massive thump sound, like something hitting the house and it stopped. Quite scary until we knew what it was, that's one thing FB is useful for as it was all over the local groups.

Youngatheart00 · 22/02/2022 04:52

I felt this! I almost shouted at DH as I had just fallen asleep and thought he was banging doors downstairs

With that and the bloody Ukraine situation I’m a bit Confused plus storms….feels a bit end of days!!

sashh · 22/02/2022 05:15

I didn't feel this one, there was one about 15-20 years ago that I felt, I think that was more Dudley though.

Daisychainsandglitter · 22/02/2022 06:29

I completely missed that!

Eileen101 · 22/02/2022 07:05

We're only a few miles away from Walsall and I was up resettling the toddler and noticed nothing. According to Facebook, plenty of other people in our town did though.

Bigfishlittlepuddle · 22/02/2022 08:50

Glad I'm not the only one. Think I would have been really scared if the bus had done wierd shakes on the way home.

We felt the Dudley one as well sashh, had forgotten that! Remember stuff falling off the shelves by the bed and waking us up, think we would have been working nights then and must have been around 2002 as it was before me and DH got married and we were living at my mums, so yep about 20 years ago,

FrogFairy · 22/02/2022 14:42

DC is in Selly Oak and didn’t feel it.

BournvilleGreen · 22/02/2022 14:47

We felt it- I asked DH if he'd felt the floor shake- he hadn't, but I had my feet on the floor, he had his up on the sofa.
I was assuming it was part of the storms (like an enormous gust of wind or something) but know differently now.

It wasn't as bad as my two others - one west Midlands, probably around 2003, one in NW in 1990. That was full-on building swaying, windows flexing in and out Shock

Andariego · 22/02/2022 14:48

I felt it last night (south birmingham) as I was lying down, DH didn't feel anything stood in the bathroom brushing his teeth though. I thought he had fallen over which is slightly ridiculous considering the house literally groaned!

BournvilleGreen · 22/02/2022 14:49

I think "Dudley" must be the last one I felt - there was an empty wooden coat hanger on the back of my bedroom door, and it was swaying and banging enough to wake us in the middle of the night. This was milder, last night, definitely.

September 2002.

I remember something falling off a shelf and smacking me in the head. Not the best wake up call Grin

I think yesterday was about 2.8 and the 2002 one was 4.8
Andariego · 22/02/2022 14:55

There was another one in Birmingham a few years back (2016/17, maybe?) which was stronger than the one last night, I remember my sofa shifted across my carpeted floor slightly and it was a big, old heavy thing. Its such a strange experience!

MrsDThomas · 22/02/2022 15:30

I remember the on in north wales in 1984. 5.4 and fresh as the day it happened. Early morning, mums and kids running to the street not understanding what happened.

Ive felt a few in my time, living in north wales we can have a few,

I love a tremor, though id hate those devastating ones. I don’t know how those poor souls start life again

BournvilleGreen · 22/02/2022 15:41

I don't remember the 1984 one at all- I can only assume I was asleep!
1990 was 5.1 on Richter.

MrsDThomas · 22/02/2022 15:47

It was felt as far as Liverpool according to reports. If you were in the north west, no doubt someone you know of a certain age would recall it

BitOutOfPractice · 22/02/2022 15:56

Typical national press saying Birmingham. It was the Black Country, as was the one in 2002. And yes, they're different and yes it's important Grin
