My fabulous nearly 7yo goddaughter has, as a result of being bullied, decided that the best way to get people to like her is to change how she looks, speaks and dresses and I’m looking for a book that basically says you’re perfect as you are because shes fucking brilliant and I’m heartbroken she feels this way.

She loves books and responds to messages in them, she has a 3.5yo sister so absolutely fine if it’s aimed at younger then her as they can read together

I know this won’t be to everyone’s taste but it will be good for her

Thank you

I’ve been reading Fabulous Frankie - Simon James Green and Garry Parsons, which is about a flamingo who feels like he needs to change himself to be exciting but realises in the end that the other flamingos like him because he’s a nice flamingo on the inside. Might be a touch young for 7 but just in case anyone else is looking through the thread for ideas!

Ruby by Maggie Glen about a bear that is special.

There's another one about a duck but that's upstairs put away as the kids are too old for board books

@MissLC

Giraffes can't dance maybe?
I really liked this book when dc were younger, it would be great for the younger dc.

How to Train Your Dragon is a great suggestion (and probably more suitable for a 7yo than some of the others - I know my 5yo wouldn't really engage with Giraffes Can't Dance any more even though he loved it as a toddler).

This IS a picture book, but it's beautiful and does appeal to all my kids (3, 5, 8). All The Ways to be Smart - www.amazon.co.uk/All-Ways-Smart-Davina-Bell/dp/1911617559?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I hope she comes through it all true to her wonderful self.
