... it sounds so highly unlikely you think people won't believe you?

I have one talent that sounds impossible (I may share later!!) but my great-grandma was about 4 feet nothing tall, not very agile but she could juggle with just about anything you could throw at her that she could physically hold (Diddy little hands too!). We used to just shout "oi Grandma" and throw 3 things at her. it was so funny, and she loved it too.

And my ex could turn a digestive biscuit 360° back to front and widthwaya without it breaking.

(Csn you tell I'm. bored?)

Seriously impressed with some of these, especially the languages. I did French and German, dropped French and did German gcse as back then you has to do a language.. reader.. I failed my oral for talking in French Grin

I've been told I'm good at making beautiful babies... that's something I guess 🤣

ElephantandGrasshopper · 19/02/2022 22:57

I can spell pretty much any word and spot typos all of the time, but I never point them out because I would look like a twat. I can also recite the alphabet backwards as quickly as I can say it forwards, this is not a skill that is very useful in daily life.

Lampzade · 19/02/2022 22:59

I am a mine of useless ( sometimes useful) information.
I have knowledge of some really obscure things which is why I am pretty good at pub quizzes.

Enidcat5 · 19/02/2022 23:00

I have a brilliant memory for knowing which jobs everyone in my company do, including people I've never met or spoken to. It started at school when I knew every person in school's full name and class, I think I'm just a nosy fucker

I can make realistic pig noises with the back of my throat. Not very useful.

Ohyesiam · 19/02/2022 23:00

@Kite22

Surely most people don't tell people they are really good at something, not because they think people won't believe, them, but because it would come across as really crass / cocky / boastful / socially inept.
Hence this thread
Letsallscreamatthesistene · 19/02/2022 23:01

I know when rice is done by looking at how the water boils. Does that count?!

Enidcat5 · 19/02/2022 23:02

I am extremely good and quick at proof reading, always have been. I often do it for colleagues. Makes me intolerant though of people who don't bother doing it and send things out with error at work.

FlamingoQueen · 19/02/2022 23:02

It’s not really the same (a bit crap, I suppose), but I tend to know obscure who’s married to who!
Last week there was an article in the paper on Debbie Greenwood and my first thought was Paul Coia. Not heard the names for many many years, but I knew who she was married to straight away (and pleased to say they are still married!).

TheSillyMastiff · 19/02/2022 23:05

I was a professional athlete in a winter sport discipline
I speak 2 languages fluently
I can play 3 musical instruments to a high grade
I have a genuine photographic memory and also incredible immediate muscle memory.

I don't tell anybody these things that I just meet. I have dated men for like a year before dumping them and have never told them these things. I'm not sure why , I just feel embarrassed about them like speaking about them is boasting.

However when one guy found my trophies and medals in a box in the attic I did then have to tell him about the sport 🤣

WorkHardPlayHard1 · 19/02/2022 23:05

Yes typos stand out to me like meerkats! And faces, if I've seen one once it stays in my brain forever! I also recognise people on TV whose mannerisms are super similar to others all the time. Great with names, faces, similarities but dont have natural emotional intelligence, i have to switch it on in my brain as am too task orientated and once on that track I find it hard to veer away from my course! Good and bad I suppose. I can remember the words from songs word for word but unfortunately my singing voice is terrible as told by husband and all children. Poor them! ;))

MRS54321 · 19/02/2022 23:06

I’m really good at impressions. Mostly of my workmates , some of my friends.
Not in a cruel mocking way- just their mannerisms etc I don’t even know I’m doing it, as it’s usually part of a story I’m regaling
I rarely do them and the best ones are off the cuff, my DH laughs his head off and I only generally do them for him. He begs me to do it for other people, but if I think about it-its not as funny Grin

DrivingHomeChristmas · 19/02/2022 23:06

I can get any baby or child into an age appropriate sleep routine with self settling in about 2/3 weeks. By age appropriate I mean a small baby might still wake regularly but will go down at 7pm and settle quickly after feeds. My newest recruit ( a refugee child who has been nocturnal for 8 months) has it cracked after 3 weeks. I use a multi sensory approach to build triggers for sleep, and it’s quite intense supporting them into a routine, but there is no controlled crying or trauma, just lots of routine ( I’m a foster carer)

Wow you need to let your true high achieving self out and get someone who is at your level! Good luck! ;))
NeverChange · 19/02/2022 23:09

Knitting and crocheting.
Think my mum is the only one who knows, not even siblings know I still do it.

Mainly do stuff for premature baby units.

It's unusual for someone in their 30s and it isn't a skill anyone rates these days anyway but I enjoy it and it's very relaxing.

Lampzade · 19/02/2022 23:10

This thread is really interesting. It makes one aware of all the hidden talent out there

FurbleSocks · 19/02/2022 23:11

I am phenomenal at regional accents. I didn't realise it wasn't something everyone can do till a friend was reading our children a story with a clearly regional character (say Scottish) and she didn't even try. I break them out when it's appropriate but only my kids know the full range. There is literally not one I can't do.

TheSunIsStillShining · 19/02/2022 23:12

Almost 50, petite here. Trained to be a car mechanic (started at 28, couldn't finish as I was 8 months pregnant for the final exam).

Had to go through a full psych eval and IQ testing week once for one of my jobs. Turns out that I have the superpower (less than 0.5% of the world population) to be able to see big picture and be very good with detail at the same time and can switch in seconds. To me this is normal, so I don't see the extra in it. Also have an IQ of 167. Again - without applying myself to do some proper good with it what's the use?

Shodan · 19/02/2022 23:12

I can make or fix pretty much anything, craft-wise. I seem to pick things up very easily.

I don't tell people generally because they either look politely uninterested or ask me to make/fix something for them (always for free, too).

SparkleSpangle · 19/02/2022 23:12

I was a world class skier. I could have been great but we moved to UK from Sweden when I was 11 and there is just no funding for it here.

UniversalAunt · 19/02/2022 23:12

‘ I'm laughing at the 'give a good blow job' one - like it's hard?’

You’d certainly hope so…

YouHaveMail · 19/02/2022 23:13

@MsMeNz now very curious as to what your job is and which northern town...

Im very good at listening to people, I'm the one everyone in my family comes to when needing help, during my teen years I even had the nickname 'counsellor'. Must admit, I did end up telling them to take it easy with sharing problems as I had things on my own plate (usual marriage/life blah blah)

I'm also bilingual, but reading up thread that is not very impressive Grin

24petlegs · 19/02/2022 23:13

I never need the sat nav once I've driven a route once.
Not just locally, but long distance and abroad.
Drive it once, file it...then use it when needed.
DH calls me a homing pigeon as I can get us home from anywhere.

Enko · 19/02/2022 23:13

I am really good at seeing if something is level I can eye it.. DH and DS gets their iphones out each time and go How do you do that?

AntAndDecking · 19/02/2022 23:14

I do the voices thing too, I’m so glad it’s not just me!

The multiple languages is really impressive.

TheSunIsStillShining · 19/02/2022 23:15

and 2 things ppl don't seem to believe: I used to do car races (illegal street quarter miles usually with a car that I made changes on mostly / and won most of them). Now I drive a Smart....
played skate hockey on a semi professional level (amateur both with championships and leagues) for about 7 years. I was quite a good goalie, otherwise I was pretty crap, but really enjoyed it :)
