... it sounds so highly unlikely you think people won't believe you?

I have one talent that sounds impossible (I may share later!!) but my great-grandma was about 4 feet nothing tall, not very agile but she could juggle with just about anything you could throw at her that she could physically hold (Diddy little hands too!). We used to just shout "oi Grandma" and throw 3 things at her. it was so funny, and she loved it too.

And my ex could turn a digestive biscuit 360° back to front and widthwaya without it breaking.

(Csn you tell I'm. bored?)

Oh I can do the pregnancy thing too! It’s just something somehow different about how someone appears or holds herself, I can’t put my finger on it. I saw my neighbour down the other end of the street and immediately thought “oh she’s having a 3rd, must be due next summer” when she was only a few weeks, without even realising I was thinking about it. It’s an awkward one though as they might not know or the pregnancy might not continue for whatever reason, so definitely one to keep quiet about.

@MoonOnASpoon OOPS YORKSHIRE PUDS 🤣🤣🤣

I used to be good at IQ tests, have an IQ of 158 tested by Mensa, but I'd never mention it because I'd sound like a twat

Annoyingly, I have poor communication skills, people who meet me usually decide I'm 'ever so nice', or 'so cute', but I suspect, a bit thick because I freeze and go blank in groups

Wow! I'm the same. Very similar mensa score to you but rubbish at communication and in groups. Wonder if it's connected.

I'm sure I don't have scores anything like that.

I just have the rubbish at small talk, communication, and groups bit. Grin

I just sort of slightly stick my chin forward, concentrate on the area at the back of my neck/base of my skull which feels like it creates the energy, then I 'release' the energy down my spine and it gives me a shiver. If I do it 3 or 4 times in a row I get goosebumps. I've always done it to myself if I'm getting sleepy while driving for instance and it wakes me up much like a shot of caffeine or an adrenaline hit. I had no idea this isn't normal til a month ago! I feel like it's a similar process to a dog getting its hackles up

chocolatebrowniesaddict · 20/02/2022 11:56

I'm really good at sports and even sports I've never played but can join in and be very good at it annoying the people who have played for many years (obviously not Olympic level). I also have a very good memory and photographic memory but I don't mention it but it is easy for me to track compulsive liars or people who like to exaggerate but keep changing their storyline. I keep everything inside me or I wouldn't have any friends or acquaintances . And I really think I am funny and have a great sense of humour but again I keep it inside me and never reveal it because I'm weirdly funny and I only share that side to people I'm comfortable with or people I click with.

Yes, it’s something like that for me too. On the tv show Bones she’s always picking up on something about the changes to the pelvis, maybe we’re subconsciously noting that? Though I’ve picked it so early on, I can hardly think there’d be any change.

Saw Sophie Ellis Bextor perform live. Immediately told my friend ‘she’s pregnant, very early’. Him ‘wtf’? Later, when the birth was announced I was right and she’d have only just known herself when I did.So weird. I was many rows away, we were never near each other. Given how easily pregnancy tests can be obtained nowadays, I’d prefer a more useful superpower!

Justanotherobserver · 20/02/2022 12:12

I’m very good at lying

I can nearly always tell when people are lying. Even when someone is relaxed about lying, the tension of their vocal cords changes and I can hear it in their voice.

Fascinating! I'm sitting here trying to visualise this now.

Footle · 20/02/2022 12:16

@Ruthietuthie, interesting to see which ASEAN languages you've omitted - a couple which aren't tonal: is it just for that reason? Is there a common factor for the ones you've chosen , apart from tonality?

ivfbabymomma1 · 20/02/2022 12:20

I can spot film / tv errors really easily. I rarely point them out as I imagine it's annoying 😂😂

Booboobibles · 20/02/2022 12:26

@ThisIsAGreatLife

Name changed for this one. Short and sweet, but won’t respond to anyone because it’s very very unbelievable to most. I remember where I was before I was born. Not like inside my mother, but I remember “home”. I know I’m meant to be here, but not afraid to die because I will get to go home. I understand why people aren’t “supposed” to remember. It would change everything. I also know when I will die. Year, not day or moment!
I would love to know more about this because I feel like if I had this knowledge, my anxiety would disappear. I get ‘glimpses’ and yesterday I was in my flat and I suddenly said out loud ‘I want to go home’. I’m very aware that there’s something intangible that I can almost touch and which I hope I can touch in this lifetime so that I don’t have to come back and do it all again.

Am I not supposed to remember because I’m meant to be learning to develop my thinking and learn how to not be anxious?

LetHimHaveIt · 20/02/2022 12:32

I'm surprisingly good at things like Wonderlic tests, scoring in the high 40s from a standing start. I've often thought that, if I lived in America, I'd be CEO of something: as it is, I earn minimum wage. Ah, well.

@catfunk

-I have incredible aim with shooting and archery (not that I do if much!) -I can make perfect Yorkshire kids every time even if I vary the mixture -I can do the splits (I don't look athletic at all)
How many Yorkshire kids have you got? Are you Amanda whatsherface with the farm?
rambleonplease · 20/02/2022 12:57

My only talent is swimming. An ex junior GB swimming. Junior European 100m butterfly swimmer and Indi medley.

However I am now almost 50, I am only 5'6" so not really built like a swimmer. Never was. I don't really tell people unless something very relevant comes up which it rarely does!!

Bloodybridget · 20/02/2022 12:59

Me late to the joke as usual! I am loving this thread tho. I share the superskill of finding a favourite product which immediately becomes unavailable.

MajesticElephant · 20/02/2022 13:07

I have an uncanny ability to calm and train dogs. I’ve worked with several rescues and never not been able to comfortably interact with any dog even if it’s been aggressive to everyone else. I think I must smell funny. Grin

hatsoff234 · 20/02/2022 13:08

@pigeontoed
I think
I've always been able to do it. T family know and sometimes they ask me to speak for them but I do get a bit embarrassed. I love the sound of that game- may Google it and get it!
It's quite a cool skill though, I think.

Iwanttenofthose · 20/02/2022 13:15

Typing numbers using the right hand number pad on a keyboard really, really fast. Also remembering long strings of numbers.

I'm not mathematically inclined at all but the above basically used to be my job and I seem to have retained the skill.

Alcemeg · 20/02/2022 13:57

He's being a dick.

What are his good points?

Was that your uncanny sixth sense for predicting 95% of MN threads?! 🤣
whatwasIgoingtosay · 20/02/2022 14:29

I can tell you the Latin name and common name of almost any flower, plant or tree that grows in the UK. I can usually also tell you some facts about it, such as the growing conditions it needs, its longevity, eventual height, etc. I haven't had any botanical training, just lots of reading and lots of amateur growing experience.

Pythonesque · 20/02/2022 14:50

@Letsallscreamatthesistene

I know when rice is done by looking at how the water boils. Does that count?!
I cook rice by absorption and like to put my ear close and listen for when it's done :) (it chatters to you!)
TheTurn0fTheScrew · 20/02/2022 14:57

I can remember numbers. Phone number, postcodes, dates. I work in the NHS and know lots of my regular patients dates of birth off the top my head. Saves me 20 seconds looking things up a few times a day!

Badbaddog · 20/02/2022 15:45

@DrivingHomeChristmas

I can get any baby or child into an age appropriate sleep routine with self settling in about 2/3 weeks. By age appropriate I mean a small baby might still wake regularly but will go down at 7pm and settle quickly after feeds. My newest recruit ( a refugee child who has been nocturnal for 8 months) has it cracked after 3 weeks. I use a multi sensory approach to build triggers for sleep, and it’s quite intense supporting them into a routine, but there is no controlled crying or trauma, just lots of routine ( I’m a foster carer)
This is fantastic, I am in awe!
