Costly Co-Op Coleslaw!

Tbh I’m in a fortunate enough position not to really notice, or be worried about slight increases in food prices. However, popped to the Co-Op today for a tub of my favourite coleslaw - been buying it for as long as I remember and it’s usually £1.25, often on offer at £1.00. But today it was £1.85!! How on earth do they justify this?
I’ve decided to boycott it Grin

It's shocking isn't it?
I was in Morrisons last night buying 3 things I buy every week.
They had increased from £3 to £3.50, 80p to £1.20 and 60 to 90p!!
I only noticed them because I buy them so regularly, god knows how much everything else had increased Confused

CurryLover55 · 18/02/2022 15:41

Prices have increased everywhere.

Macademiamum · 18/02/2022 15:45

Inflation in the UK has just hit a 30 year high so this is really not that surprising and unfortunately happening everywhere. It's just when it's a shop that's already expensive it seems extortionate

I did a £45 online shop with Morrison's, same shop with Asda was £5 cheaper.
That's a big difference on a small shop.

WheelieBinPrincess · 18/02/2022 15:46

The co op has gone mad recently I swear. I know it all has but co op is way more expensive than the Tesco a few doors down.

Leggingslife · 18/02/2022 15:47

Prices have increased and people will just stop spending.

AladdinPrincess999 · 18/02/2022 15:50

I've noticed the meat at Asda, big packs of chicken, was £10.95 to £12.10

Lamb chops £5.50 to £6.60

Luckily most chocolate is a pound still. Grin

mrsmoppp · 18/02/2022 15:50

I noticed in Aldi yesterday that the norpack butter is now £1:99 😱

Marmite27 · 18/02/2022 15:53

The specially selected Jalfrezi curry sauce I aldi has gone from 69p to 99p

A full weekly shop in the Co-op probably costs more than Waitrose. I have always found it very expensive but you pay for the convenience.

Co-OP is my nearest Supermarket, just round the corner with a car park and they do same day delivery for £1.99 maximum. I'm v canny at knowing exactly what to buy from there and what is v overpriced. I do use it as I have a chronic illness and sometimes can't go out.
Crunchymum · 18/02/2022 16:03

I made the mistake of buying M&S deli style coleslaw when it was reduced and now I can't stand any other coleslaw. So I begrudgingly pay £2.10 a tub.

I could do without it (calorie wise at least) but I've introduced the family to it and there'd be mutiny if I didn't buy it.

Sorry you're unwell. This is the reason my dh uses the Co-op, he is disabled and the car park and wide aisles are perfect for him. He also knows if I do all the shopping he won't get his cakes and biscuits Grin

These are always on my list, even if I just need bread, cat food and loo rollGrin

Morrison’s doughnuts have gone from 50p to 69p 🤨😱

I noticed this too. Go to Lidl, big packs are £8.50 there
fluffythedragonslayer · 18/02/2022 17:14

My £1.10 bread was £1.30 today! Everything is going up it's awful. I won't be able to afford to eat at all soon!

I think that the co op has always been expensive.
ODFOx · 18/02/2022 17:25

I don't mind paying more at coop than other supermarkets but the huge price hikes across all the stores on food are stunning, especially with the fuel
increases coming soon too.

Morrisons here are doing 7p a litre off fuel if you spend £40. I've ordered a delivery for Monday with all the cheapest things I'll use to get that discount.
SweetFelicityArkright · 18/02/2022 18:10

The co-op really has gone up on some things in the last few months, always expensive compared to others but I have really cut back on the top up shops I do there, I now only buy veg from there and anything like milk or bread.
Big shop once a month for everything else and do without if we run out until the next one!

BlondeWidow · 18/02/2022 18:37

I agree. Though I am also very very grateful we don't have the same grocery prices as they do in the US! Considering almost everything else over there is so much cheaper - including eating out - for some bizarre reason supermarket food is EXTORTIONATE!
Things like a loaf of bread $5 (roughly £3.70) butter $5-10 it's absolute madness

Ilovetommycat · 18/02/2022 19:51

Yes, Co-op sea salt and Chardonnay crisps are awesome. Crisps are my weakness Smile

JustWonderingIfYou · 18/02/2022 19:55

@ISpyCobraKai

Is that offer online too? I thought it was just in store.

Co-op has always more expensive than an actual supermarket- you pay a premium for the location normally.

ISpyCobraKai · 18/02/2022 20:02

The petrol?
I think it includes delivery, I'll be making sure it does of course first.
There's a list of things you can't include in your shopping which states delivery charges so I'm assuming it's OK.
