Osteopath climbed on top of me

This has been playing on my mind.

I’d never been to an osteopath before so maybe this is totally normal. Feel free to tell me if it is.

Osteopath was working on my body and then without warning he got on top of me (I was lying on my back) and he rolled me back and forth. He was literally on top of me like we were having sex.

Is this a thing?!

@LukeSkywalkerNooooooooo

What I meant was that he was astride me, face to face. I was mortified!
Presumably he wasn't actually lying on you, I mean with his chest and - things - pressed on you. Maybe kneeling with one leg either side, while manipulating you with his hands? Blimey, I don't know.

I would have thought he'd have said something like, "During the session I will do xxxx and xxxx, are you happy about that?". Did he?

@Bullandbush

Did you have your knees up *@LukeSkywalkerNooooooooo*? If so it’s a recognised manoeuvre but he should have explained it first.

I’ve used osteopaths for over 30 years and they’re usually very careful to explain what they’re doing.

I've had this done so often I've been left with scarring on the bone. Brings back memories!!!😰

I do remember similar from the time I went to an osteopath. I find Mctimoney chiropractor is gentler and more successful so go there instead.

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor Have you ever been to one? Read this thread and you’ll see it’s not unusual at all.

Yes. Osteopathy can be pretty physical. And painful. But effective.

Yes, I have seen physios and osteopaths for years after a nasty accident both at hospitals, NHS and private ones. I wasn't questioning leaning and across the patient I was questioning sitting astride the patient while doing so.
