Stupid swimmers in the sea during the storm

I have just seen the news clip of the stupid selfish people swimming in the sea. Just no excuse for it, it's just pure stupidity and selfishness. They could end up putting other Iives at risk if they need a lifeboat and emergency help. Grrr what is wrong with some people!!!!

Well they do say evolution is self-selecting in some aspects!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/02/2022 13:10

Good grief. I thought the thread with pictures of people standing on a small quay was bad. The RNLI would send a lifeboat out for these people and that puts their volunteer, unpaid crews at huge risk.

RoseAndRose · 18/02/2022 13:11

I've just seen pix in one of the newspapers of people doing stupid things near the sea.

I really wish they wouldn't publish them!

Chakraleaf · 18/02/2022 13:12

I'm a sea swimmer and people are so reckless it's horrid. Any experienced swimmer wouldn't go out in this.

MissyB1 · 18/02/2022 13:13

They are deliberately endangering other peoples lives. They should be heavily fined or even imprisoned.

Akire · 18/02/2022 13:13

The life boat crew must have limits what is safe for them? Thought don’t put yourself in danger was first response? I know it’s not always safe but in these level of gales no point 8 crew ending up in the water. It’s not an emergency really if you choose to go swimming with 90mph and get into trouble.

Whatinthelord · 18/02/2022 13:15

Idiots.
I swim in the sea often but I would never go out like this. As you say, it’s one thing to risk your self but if you got in trouble other people would risk their lives to save you.

Mummytotwonow · 18/02/2022 13:15

I just don't get it. Why the hell would you put your life at risk and your family (possibly children) having to deal with your unnecessary death?? They aren't even in a shallow bit they are quite far out.

Oh you have got to be joking Shock

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 18/02/2022 13:18

Also Hmm at the headline praising them.

Luckygrey · 18/02/2022 13:20

The sea doesn't look much different to usual in that video though. Unlike the harbour wall picture. I'm on English South Coast and the waves are very high today.

Tulips21 · 18/02/2022 13:22

We are on the welsh coast-wind hitting at 90mph...
4 people have just walked across the breakwater by us- not a pier, but a proper breakwater🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

gogohm · 18/02/2022 13:25

Depends where you are, the sea isn't particularly rough here, lm still not going swimming though!

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 18/02/2022 13:25

Sea swimmers where I live. Every fucking day. 6 am slot. 7 am slot. 8 am slot.
They coast guard was out twice in January but despite the well reported storm news they are still there.
Twats.

jollygreenpea · 18/02/2022 13:29

If idiots choose to go swimming in this and then get in to trouble (quell surprise) I would ban others risking their own lives to say the idiot.

Grantanow · 18/02/2022 13:39

They probably voted for Brexit too.

diddl · 18/02/2022 13:45

I also thought that it didn't look that bad.

Things can change pretty quickly though!

Daftasabroom · 18/02/2022 13:47

That doesn't look like the sea to me. Definitely not open sea.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 18/02/2022 13:50

@Grantanow

They probably voted for Brexit too.
Rather unlikely.
MelaniaFlump · 18/02/2022 13:54

That doesn’t look especially rough.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 18/02/2022 13:57

@MelaniaFlump

That doesn’t look especially rough.
I agree, what's the issue with that clip? Confused Its not exactly 120 mph winds there, is it?
OnlyAFleshWound · 18/02/2022 14:01

They probably voted for Brexit too.
Tell me you didn't click on the link without telling me you didn't click on the link.

I grew up 300 yes from thé high water mark and the RNLI station and knew many of the crew. The summer nights were punctuated by alerts when some idiot from Liverpool gently floated out into the Irish sea on their Lilo. Used to drive us mad.
In storms in the early 80s, some moron thought it was a good Idea to take his dog on the beach at Blackpool, throwing a ball into the sea for it. The dog got into difficulties, the man went to rescue it. The dog got out, a PC went in to rescue the man who got out, and the PC lost his life. Think the man should've been prosecuted.

Daftasabroom · 18/02/2022 14:12

The article states it's in Tralee. The waves are being blown towards the shore. The wind is west or north west and there are mountains in the background. It's a very sheltered spot.
