MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/02/2022 07:24

i have to drive to work,
we have had no communication at all, which is odd

Chishnfips · 18/02/2022 07:26

@Fluffycloudland77

We’ve not had a storm this bad for 30 years, I’m old enough to remember but not everyone is.
There not that rare we had storm Arwen last November.

It isn't classed as a hurricane but you are going to experience hurricane force winds. Red warning is danger to life, like entire roofs off houses that have to land somewhere.

Watch the Red Warning video above.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/02/2022 07:29

I don’t remember Arwen being red warning though.

People will be dead by tonight due to this storm.

Hugasauras · 18/02/2022 07:30

Arwen was red warning on coastal areas on east coast.

Hugasauras · 18/02/2022 07:31

And it was nuts. You would have been mad to drive in it for anything other than an emergency.

labyrinthlaziness · 18/02/2022 07:32

I just posted on another thread - today is a day for staying at home.

waltzingparrot · 18/02/2022 07:35

Just ring the attraction and ask if you can use your tickets on another day, due to the red warning out today.

@MrsTaytodarling

I think you're not insured to drive in a red warning..
This is categorically not true.
WouldIwasShookspeared · 18/02/2022 07:57

What's the price of your children's safety?
I'm sure it's worth more than some non refundable tickets.

This 100%. I'm only leaving the house as I have to work. Cannot avoid it. However if I could be at home I would be. I'm hoping my DH is sensible and stays home with the children too
iheartmybeachhut · 18/02/2022 08:00

No matter how many warnings there are, there will still be the idiots that will be out taking selfies and doing the 'I struggled through it didn't need to be out. No sympathy if people put themselves in the firing line when there is no need too.
Anyone who HAS to travel for work etc, hoping you have a safe journey.

Treacleandmustard · 18/02/2022 08:03

Are you seriously willing to risk your life and your childrens lives for a day out? Emergency services will have enough to do without you adding to the workload.

user94747295 · 18/02/2022 08:15

I am not worried about the money of the tickets. My kids were looking forward to the day, that's my issue.

I just wasn't sure of the general rule of a red warning as I don't remember one before.

People saying that I am happy to risk my kids life are just ridiculous because otherwise I would of just taken them without trying to understand the warning.

OP posts:
MsTSwift · 18/02/2022 08:17

That would have been negligent though. Not understanding is no excuse.

DirtyDancing · 18/02/2022 08:21

Harsh replies! Gosh people on her do go for the jugular.

OP fair question in my opinion. It really doesn't seem that bad yet in my red area (London) my DH has just set off for work in his car. I'm debating whether to go to an outside personal training session.

However, I must admit I wouldn't take the kids out in the height of the storm- only we don't know how bad it will get. Storm warnings and wind are estimates, it must be bartering the SW and coming harder in land than they expected to raise the Amber to red.

Its "stay the fuck at home"

That's why I made sure I understood before I made a decision Confused

Where can you check that? Is it all insurers? I've never heard of that, my dbro is in a red area and I bet he doesn't know that either
Emmelina · 18/02/2022 08:31

The attraction will likely be closed under a red warning. It’s not just about upsetting little Timmy and Tamara, it’s about keeping their staff, visitors and property safe.

Well done, you win stupid comment of the day. I mean honestly, think about what you have just written.
MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 18/02/2022 08:37

Apologies MrsTay you have correct it, just drives me batty the amount of crazy insurance related answers are posted on MN.

Like others I am off to work, red area but no choice. If I was op I wouldn't go, hopefully the tickets are refunded, but I know plenty will still travel.

Ifailed · 18/02/2022 08:37

Not true, however you do have a duty of disclosure to the insurance company of all information, facts, and circumstances relevant to the cover. It could be argued that if you chose to ignore an official warning not to drive and did so anyway without telling your insurance company, your contract would be void.
