Things your DC do that annoy you even though it's really petty

DD is constantly taking blankets out the blanket box for no real reason and leaving them draped all around the house. Makes the living room look scruffy and the stairs dangerous! It turns me into a demented demon every morning when she is doing it before school!

We're just giving this thread a bump for the OP Smile

Talk in American accents when role playing!

Yuckypretty · 17/02/2022 15:41

My daughter always goes the wrong way when playing snakes and ladders, despite her ability to read numbers. It gives me high blood pressure

BigPurpleEgg · 17/02/2022 15:41

Dd3 says certain words in an American accent and it gives me the instant rage! Her older brother on her dads side is autistic and she gets it from her but he doesn't annoy me at all so don't know why I hate it so much when she does it

BirdyBee · 17/02/2022 15:48

Always opening a new packet / bottle of something even if there's some already open, milk, cheese, pk of biscuits ect it drives me mad!

Glitterygreen · 17/02/2022 15:53

Omg YES to the American accent thing, and also using American terms for things rather than English ones eg. bouncy house instead of bouncy castle.

ANameChangeAgain · 17/02/2022 15:56

Talk in American accents when role playing! oh I don't miss that one! Mine are teens now, but still can't leave the sodding cushions on the sofa. Neither can the dogs, so I'm fighting all of them!

gluenotsoup · 17/02/2022 16:02

Collects every single empty loo roll to draw faces on to turn into a little family. I swear they are breeding and overtaking my house.
Older dd uses all my stuff- dry shampoo, moisturiser, mascara, everything - and swears blind that they are hers to begin with while looking saintly. I look like this..😤

gluenotsoup · 17/02/2022 16:02

Actually, I love the loo roll family..

Hellocatshome · 17/02/2022 16:10

DS 14 refuses to finish anything in case he gets told off for eating it all before the rest of us get any so he leaves the tiniest amount. Therefore my fridge and cupboards are filled with very nearly empty bottles and packets.

DS 11 puts all his clothes in the washing basket every day. Which sounds like a good thing but he only has two pairs of school trousers and the clothes he wears in the evening are only worn for a few hours so I am constantly having to get them back out the washing basket for him to wear again.

MinnieMountain · 17/02/2022 16:15

Asks me endless rounds of “would you rather?” Mainly based around weapons or flying.

CeratopsofthePharoahs · 17/02/2022 16:18

Mine do the blanket thing too.

Sitting using the computer and constantly kicking the cupboard next to it.
Protesting every little thing. Yes you have to do your homework. Yes you need clean socks on. And fgs turn the light off when you leave your bedroom!!

bewhoyouaresaywhatyoufeel · 17/02/2022 16:20

Meanders away from the dinner table when no one is looking so therefore not having to clear the table

Playing with any ball indoors

Leaving towels on the floor

Is it half term???

HalloHello · 17/02/2022 16:21

Says 'Mama' before every thing she says even when we are already in conversation.
Says MAMA LOOK even when I'm looking right at her
Lies on her baby brother even though I have told her so many times to lie next to him! He's not safe 🤣
Shouts or sings ALL THE TIME.

I don't cope well with incessant noise, can you tell!

LoveFall · 17/02/2022 16:24

When they were teens, coming home from school and looking for snacks. I get home from work and every kitchen cupboard door is open. Every. Single. One.

LegoLady95 · 17/02/2022 17:25

Putting all the cushions on the floor.

Generally picking things up and the absent-mindedly putting them down somewhere else.

Calling me bruh, or mate.

gluenotsoup · 17/02/2022 18:35

…and putting the empty packets or boxes back in the cupboard.

Macademiamum · 18/02/2022 09:18

Leaving their shoes and coats on the floor. No matter what system I put in place, it all gets dumped on the floor
And food wrappers. They belong in the bin not on the floor!
Not putting the lids back on the pens

Macademiamum · 18/02/2022 09:20

Leaving water on the bathroom floor and making no attempt to dry it up. One of my Dc seems to actively walk around the bath mat and somehow brings so much water out the bath with them there is a trail to their bedroom. It's like living with a giant snail.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 18/02/2022 09:22

Cook four chicken breasts for a snack .... meaning last night's dinner was vegetable curry.

RealHousewifeOfEastLondon · 18/02/2022 09:22

Putting all the cushions on the floor. Every hour. Every day.

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 18/02/2022 09:25

Give me a running commentary on whatever online game they’re playing. I. Do. Not. Care.

Also, instead of putting rubbish in the bin she always puts it on the bench above the bin.

thebear1 · 18/02/2022 09:26

Putting things they have worn for a few hours to be washed, leaving plates on top of the dishwasher and starting arguments because they are bored and it entertains them!

hungrywalrus · 18/02/2022 09:27

The small one chews with his mouth open, whilst sitting opposite to his big brother. He does it because he knows full well that his brother hates it. He is not even 3 yet 🤷‍♀️.

ItWasARayGun · 18/02/2022 09:29

DD6 - saying "goo goo ga ga" endlessly when pretending to be a baby

DS8 - putting empty milk bottles and snack packets etc back in the fridge/cupboard

Both - walking off with the TV remote and leaving it in random places around the house.
