Come and brag about your amazing child

Forget a humble brag. Sometimes they just do amazing things and you have to share it SOMEWHERE (not in a competitive way).

DS4 learned to hold his pen properly last week, with a proper tripod grip. He has been trying so hard to do it since starting reception, and last week it just clicked! He was so proud, as am I Grin

DD1 is 10. SEN means she doesn't often get academic accolades, but has aptitude in maths. I introduced her to the Mathler puzzle yesterday... she did it in two goes today.

DD2 stands up for herself when people try to make fun of her unusual interests. Her retort is... "I'm Unique". Shes got life under control.

UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa · 14/02/2022 21:56

These are all warming my heart. What amazing DCs! And it's not actually bragging if someone asked. Grin

DS5 is autistic and non-verbal. He can be so sweet, and so funny sometimes. DH forgot Valentine’s Day. He was profusely apologising about not getting me a present, and DS went running out, came back with his favourite toy and proudly presented it to me with a massive hug. He’s so cute sometimes it physically hurts.

YnysMonCrone · 14/02/2022 21:58

My DDs are grown up now and they are all awesome. I did it largely by myself as Dh is a waste of space and emotionally absent. Dd26 finished her masters over Lockdown and us working her dream job now. Dd24 works as an engineer in a male dominated field and loves it. Dd20 is on the spectrum and struggled a bit more than the others but is at uni doing a course she loves and is working part time.
So proud of them all

EnigmaticIcelandShopper · 14/02/2022 22:02

My DS reading age has gone up by 1.5 years in the space of 3 months. In your face dyslexia! We are winning today Smile

Hobbes39 · 14/02/2022 22:04

@Hospedia - your post just made me smile so much! Out of all of these posts, it's just so lovely. Smile

Lipsandlashes · 14/02/2022 22:04

These are absolutely brilliant. We should all celebrate our children and their achievements more!
My DD is 10 and has an amazing aptitude for English. She just loves to read, as well as find and use brilliant words in her work. I’m in awe of her vocabulary. At 8 she had read the His Dark Materials trilogy and has now just started The Book of Dust. At this point I think she is more well read than I am.
My other DD is 8 and can play an amazing game of chess, having only learnt recently.

PaddleBoardingMomma · 14/02/2022 22:07

Bit of an unusual one, and I'm proud of her for so much more than this but... my 5yo DD's hair 🤣 we get stopped every time we do go out by someone or other stopping to admire it or comment, but the really great part is that she really wants to give her hair to be made into wigs for children who have lost their hair when the time comes she's ready to cut it.

Justme10 · 14/02/2022 22:11

DS1 is 3yrs old and he is so clever and funny. He has the gruffalo completely memorised, word for word. And he sits with the book in front of him turning the pages like he's actually reading Grin He also told me I'm his best friend today!

DS2 is 19 months and has the cheekiest wee smile and is just so adorable! As soon as he hears music, even adverts, he starts dancing away!

They are so well behaved and it's an absolute joy being their mum. My heart feels like it will burst with happiness just looking at them!

bintang · 14/02/2022 22:11

DS (13, and probably dyspraxic) fell over on the way home through the park, and was covered from head to toe in mud. He came in, stripped his uniform off, straight into the machine, and after a hot bath cleaned up his shoes.
This is a child that won't even cut up an apple or butter a scone if he thinks he can persuade a parent or sibling to do it for him!

Icantgetalifeifmyheartsnotinit · 14/02/2022 22:11

@ComtesseDeSpair that's just so lovely. What a beautiful thing to have done for your friend.

Laurie01 · 14/02/2022 22:11

My teenage son is the kindest boy I know, always sharing and would give you his last sweetie x

IrishMama2015 · 14/02/2022 22:13

A school mom pulled me aside a few weeks ago to thank me as she said my very quiet eldest DC had stood up for her DC, whose older, against some kids being nasty to her, who were older again. I was really sure she must have the wrong kid but no, it was my baby! I asked my DC and they said yes but they were scared when they did it in case they got in trouble for being mean to older kids ❤️ So proud

ANameChangeAgain · 14/02/2022 22:13

Lovely stories.
My 13yo's teacher told me they were their favourite at the zoom parents evening.
My 16yo has been supporting two of her friends - stopping one commiting a crime and trying to talk the other out of making a series of bad and dangerous decisions. I miss when her biggest problem was that I wouldn't let he wear her tutu with jeans for nursery, but I'm so proud of the young woman she has become.

@ComtesseDeSpair that was a really special thing you did for your friend Thanks

radioactive4 · 14/02/2022 22:15

@APurpleSquirrel

DD (7) is in Yr2 but top of her class. She did reading & comprehension tests in September & scored in the top 1% of the country despite having never had a normal full year at school what with lockdowns & homeschooling; she has the vocabulary & comprehension of a 10 year old according to the tests & in her recent key word spelling test she scored 63/64.

You must be so proud! 👏🏼 This is fantastic. What a bright DD you have Smile

Sweetpeasaremadeofcheese · 14/02/2022 22:17

My two year old can write all the letters of the alphabet. He stuns us every day. My other son could read before he started kindergarten, but my toddler is even ahead of what he could do at that age.

Iwantcollarbones · 14/02/2022 22:19

I love these threads. I absolutely love hearing parents share their pride.

My dd (19) is doing an apprenticeship in cyber security. She’s been the only female through her GCSEs/a levels and she’s grown into such a fierce and amazing woman.

Ds1 (18) who had to be homeschooled for two years as he couldn’t cope with school, has received offers from every uni he applied to. He will be moving to his first choice to study artificial intelligence.

Ds2 (15) likes to animate. He has his own YouTube channel and the last video he made has over 22 million views. He is paid for his videos and collaborations with other YouTube artists.

Flip, you've got a hat trick of brilliant kids! I'd be very proud too, what fabulous achievements!
Curlyshabtree · 14/02/2022 22:22

My dd is an amazing singer and talented musician. We’ve never been able to afford lessons so it’s all her. She is incredibly bright too, always been top of her class. Seems to pick up new skills really easily. She also volunteers at a local youth group and works to address the inequalities in our community.

gigantaraffe · 14/02/2022 22:23

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

Dd 15 has just made the most amazing tea.
Cannot wait until my kid can do this
Mam576 · 14/02/2022 22:24

Single mum to my DD (6) tonight she come back from her dads told me to put a dress on and she was doing a surprise in her bedroom. She put on a party dress and lipstick on. She put on a YouTube playlist, and arranged for us to play musical statues and pass the parcel. She wrote on her blackboard happy Valentine’s Day mummy I love you so much. She found me a princess crown to wear and gave me a bowl of sweets. She makes my heart melt how adorable. I am incredibly lucky.

mushforbrain · 14/02/2022 22:26

@Hospedia that made me do a proper wide smile, so funny and lovely, I’m glad he got the joke.
My lovely and sweet DS 4 tonight was just in such a fantastic fun mood (he usually is to be fair) and I said ‘You’re full of beans,’ and he said ‘Yes I am! And I love everything!’
He is just loving school and life right now. Although a few seconds later he did say ‘Except potatoes.’ Grin
