What do you do for Valentine's Day, if anything?

Those of you in relationships, particularly well past the honeymoon phase?

I feel like we start bothering less and less each year.. we're never ones to go out for awkward meals and do the forced consumerism thing, but sometimes we do something to celebrate it the weekend following, or make something nice at home etc. Just keen to see what everyone else does, maybe get some inspiration! Definitely cards - I think it’s important to take stock and put it in writing sometimes. Yes I know you love me unconditionally but I don’t think it does any harm to have it in words.

No presents, but I’m parenting solo all weekend so he can do a big Super Bowl weekend with his mates… so if he did choose to bring home a bunch of daffodils or something I wouldn’t complain Grin

Doing m&s dine in for 2 for dinner. Not very exciting but we have an 18 month old and I’m 27 weeks pregnant so it’s probably as wild as it’s going to get Grin

Together 10 years this summer.

If we remember we get cards, that’s it

HeyUpits2022 · 13/02/2022 19:14

We just do cards and very small present , I tend to get a bunch of flowers, I buy DH a box of chocolates. I don't need or want gifts, just my DH, there by my side.

We usually cook a nice steak dinner. This year it will be my DP doing it as I've just had a baby (was due Valentine's Day but came early).
I already know he hasn't got me anything as there's been such a fuss over the baby and he's left my card in his locker at work as he had to take very sudden paternity leave.
I probably won't bother giving him anything as if he hasn't bothered to even order something online, then I don't see why I should give him his gift. I'll give it to him for his birthday instead.

We usually cook a special meal but DH is working late so we’ll have it on Tuesday instead ( steak, fries, breaded garlic mushrooms & petitpois). As we’ve a bit up against it financially I told DH I wasn’t fussed about flowers but he’s bought me red roses & some carnations for DD. We always exchange cards. I haven’t bought him anything but will probably get some of his favourite chocolate ❤️

We’re not we’ve!

SartresSoul · 13/02/2022 20:30

Nothing. Usually get DH a political card from Thortful, this year it’s a Putin one and that’s about it. My birthday isn’t long after valentines so I suspect that’s something to do with it.

We’ve been married 25 years and enjoy European city breaks. Valentine’s Day is normal spent going to a castle or palace type of place, then an afternoon in the hotel spa where we’ll have a treatment each. Then cocktails or champagne and a Valentine’s meal in a restaurant.
Last year we had a M&S meal deal and watched a romcom as it was lockdown.

We usually get an M&S Valentines meal deal but this year I'm cooking a simple meal for much cheaper, which we will have with our two dds. We are having prawn cocktail, chicken in Marsala and a choc & dairy free tiramisu.
Dh has bought me some pretty flowers and chocs and Turkish delight to share.
