Would you like this as a gift after having a baby.

My friend has not long had a baby and am thinking instead of a traditional baby gift. I will get her a box of goodies and easy snacks while she's breastfeeding? I have already got her a baby gift at the baby shower.

Yes! Definitely! Especially ones that are non refrigerated so she can keep them by bed. Also some high fibre ones - flapjacks, dried fruit, nuts etc - because she'll want to be avoiding constipation postpartum Grin

allfurcoatnoknickers · 10/02/2022 15:14

YES! I would have loved that. I'd also suggest an insulated mug to keep her drinks hot/cold. I buy one as a gift for every new-mum friend so they don't have to drink cold tea.

mathanxiety · 10/02/2022 15:18

YYY to the insulated mug.

A big jar of trail.mix would be nice too - nuts, dried fruit, etc.

Yes, good choice, l was always ravenous whilst breast feeding.

AngeloMysterioso · 10/02/2022 15:20

Lovely idea. I always make a point of getting the new mum a gift - after all, it’s her that’s done all the hard work!

Sunnysidegold · 10/02/2022 15:22

This is such a thoughtful present!

Nightmanagerfan · 10/02/2022 15:22

So much better than a babygrow!! It will be her best gift

ADialgaAteMyDog · 10/02/2022 15:23

My best present was a huge box of chocolates my childfree friend gave me. Easy to eat and a sugar hit to keep me going. A lovely idea

ZoeTheThornyDevil · 10/02/2022 15:24

I send cake, personally. I think a woman who just delivered a baby deserves all the cake and breastfeeding is 80% fuelled by cake in my experience.

now I need cake

mykitchenruler · 10/02/2022 15:26

Great idea. And hand cream to help with the dry skin due to o constantly washing hands.

gamerchick · 10/02/2022 15:30

I'd have loved that, especially in a little box i could keep next to me. Also cartons of juice or something for those times you forget to get your glass of water first. Breastfeeding is a total thirst fest.

chesirecat99 · 10/02/2022 15:46

I think it is a really thoughtful idea but I would have hated it (but been grateful for the thought).

I can easily order my favourite snacks in an online shop. If someone chose snacks for me, I would end up eating things I don't really enjoy for the sake of not letting them go to waste or taking them to the food bank, making the gift a chore for me. Unless you know for sure her favourite foods? The suggestions so far, flapjacks, dried fruit and nuts, trail mix, an insulated mug (I have one already and I prefer to drink my coffee from a cup) would have all gone straight to the food bank/charity shop.

I would go for something less utilitarian and a bit more luxurious, like chocolates. Even if they aren't her favourite, they can always be offered to visitors.

Pucarbuile · 10/02/2022 15:49

Excellent idea. See also, if there's a nice premade dinner provider locally so a complete meal can be chucked in the oven/microwave one handed.

bcc89 · 10/02/2022 15:58

My favourite gift after having a baby was endless pate and crackers Blush

Laurie01 · 10/02/2022 16:00

Nipple cream, stretch mark cream, water bottle, chocolate.

girafferafferaffe · 10/02/2022 16:00

Yes that's brilliant :)

Fleur405 · 10/02/2022 16:06

My friend did this for me when I baby was in the neonatal unit - it was really appreciated.

duvetdayforeveryone · 10/02/2022 16:07

Can never go wrong with chocolate! (except if it contains nuts and they are allergic to nuts)

ronswansonstache · 10/02/2022 16:29

Oh yes! I loved the good biscuits from M&S with big chunks of chocolate in 😋

MIL bought me a gift bag of orange Twirls and honestly that bought her a lot of mileage!

elbea · 10/02/2022 16:29

Yes to snacks but no to any sort of mug. I am drowning in all sorts of different mugs, insulated cups, water bottles. I despair when I see them suggested as gifts - surely everyone has more than enough to never buy another one for life.

LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer · 10/02/2022 16:46

She's vegan so would love dried fruit and stuff like that great ideas here 😊

I got a beautiful box of brownies, cakes, biscuits. I personally don’t have a sweet tooth, but it was great as you get so many visitors, it was nice to offer them something nice as they had made a long journey and brought the baby presents.

Qwill · 10/02/2022 16:51

Personally I think stretch mark cream isn’t a nice present as it could offend some and not all women get stretch marks, or care about getting rid of them! A treat is so much nicer.

babyjellyfish · 10/02/2022 16:59

YES!

My friend gave me some of these as part of my baby present and I devoured them at 5am between feeds.

Maybe you could buy or make some vegan flapjacks or cookies?

I don't know if vegan chocolate is a thing.
