Do you think children ‘inherit’ academic talents?

Probably the worst title in the world but I suppose it wouldn’t be a shock if (say) Marcus Rashford had a child who was very sporty, or if Adele’s child showed some talent for singing.

Does this extend to traditional areas of the curriculum? DH is brilliant at maths and earns really well as a result. I am utterly shit at maths and I can barely add up. Just wondering if DS will take after DH or me! Or if it’s not something you inherit?

Yes. My dds often moaned that they inherited my aptitude for languages, instead of dh’s ditto for maths and science.

Yes, I was good at maths, and took economics. My brother is an accountant, as was my father. My eldest is at uni studying maths, my other children are also good at maths. Two of my sons have learning disabilities, and are autistic. I don't know if it's a case of being comfortable with maths though, and growing up around understanding and how maths is more than just books and calculation.

It probably helped that my uncle was a maths teacher and lived near my parents house
