Just saw this on breaking news.

That’s it - no more restrictions. Everything back to normal.

I’m not sure how I feel about it.

they have already removed all restrictions in Denmark about 2 -3 weeks ago

JangolinaPitt · 09/02/2022 16:14

Hoo-blardy-rah!
Never again in our lifetime.

BuddhaForMary · 09/02/2022 16:21

I think what COVID has done is highlight how selfish many people are, and how they won't even do the smallest thing to help protect others.

Seriously?? Stop with this bullshit now. People have sacrificed enough. Some of us far more than you could ever imagine.

@FlorrieLindley

Does it mean that if you test positive you can just go out and about, shopping, cinema, cafes etc., as if you didn't have it?
Yes. Crazy isn’t it? Confused
elbea · 09/02/2022 16:28

I’m pleased, basically everyone I know is Covid recently and had no symptoms at all apart from a few with a slight runny nose. Even my 85 year old diabetic grandmother caught it whilst in hospital had it with no symptoms. I had it and am severely asthmatic, also no symptoms.

People aren’t being selfish, they’ve done their part getting vaccinated and isolating. If people choose to not become vaccinated at this point that’s up to them.

Buddha yep. It’s crazy how easily people keep saying this. Have they not noticed the sacrifices over the last two years.
CovidCorvid · 09/02/2022 16:33

So can nhs staff go to work if they have it?

ziggiestardust · 09/02/2022 16:34

I'm glad. Another one who will be popping a bottle of fizz to celebrate this all being over. Onwards and upwards.

BuddhaForMary · 09/02/2022 16:37

Onward and upwards!

Really?! What about the last two years spent helping to protect others? Enough is enough!

peboh · 09/02/2022 16:42

*could end is what all journalists are reporting. It hasn't been 100% confirmed yet. As it stands right now the official date is March 24th.
However it's about time. People can't keep isolating and losing money when they're feeling well in themselves, just because they have a positive covid test. Im CEV, and i'm sick of people using us as a basis for why we should continue to live with some restriction. It's time.

GirlInACountrySong · 09/02/2022 16:44

Best news in a long time

Well overdue

caringcarer · 09/02/2022 16:45

My son's special secondary school are still making children wear masks in every lesson and keeps sending home news letters telling parents they should be LFT every day and other test if anyone on school year off with Covid. I wonder if they will ease back now?

Twiglets1 · 09/02/2022 16:47

It’s time. The restrictions and people’s different attitudes to Covid bought out the worst in many people and divided families and friends. I hope to God we will soon feel normal again though I absolutely respect the right of others to carry on wearing masks etc if they want to.

lovescats3 · 09/02/2022 17:12

Dead cat story to distract from yet another photo of him at another party so let's appease back benchers and the public by pretending covid is over.as a Dr said on the news what's the plan for hospitals - is covid just going to be allowed to rampage through them ?

Yeah, ENOUGH helping others! JEEEEZ!

Fetchthevet · 09/02/2022 17:26

@Mariposista

I will be popping open a bottle of fizz the this day finally comes - never thought we would see it! Long live freedom!!!
Forgive my ignorance, but why are you not free at the moment? Apart from having to test twice a week, I've been back to normal for ages.
AndAnotherNewOne · 09/02/2022 17:31

Idiotic.

We'll be back in lockdown unless those with Covid isolate themselves.

Why would they put the vulnerable at risk? Only the very selfish.

baggies · 09/02/2022 17:53

I hope this means that doctors surgeries will not require a negative pcr before you're allowed in with any covid symptoms

ItsSnowJokes · 09/02/2022 19:30

I have seen on here posters go nuts about people going out and about with chicken pox and sickness bugs etc....... suddenly everyone can go out with covid and that's fine.

I posted on another thread would you be fine with your cancer surgeon or midwife coming to you while they had covid? Happy for your newborn baby to be exposed to covid? Cos that is what will happen.

HermioneWeasley · 09/02/2022 19:51

It’s about time.

It’s immoral to force healthy people to stay at home. It’s massively disruptive to the economy and services. It’s been 2 years, vaccinations protect from serious illness, and total deaths in Jan are in line with historic figures.

People who are anxious are free to impose whatever restrictions on their lives they wish to. And move to countries with restrictions (if they’ll let you in). Canada is looking pretty totalitarian - try there. Best avoid Those notoriously reckless Scandi countries though, as they’re dropping restrictions before England is.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 09/02/2022 20:10

According to the Guardian, the testing regime (both LFT and PCR) will stay (for the short term at least), so people could still test positive but it would no longer be a legal requirement to isolate.

firstimemamma · 09/02/2022 20:15

"I posted on another thread would you be fine with your cancer surgeon or midwife coming to you while they had covid? Happy for your newborn baby to be exposed to covid? Cos that is what will happen." I'd be 100% completely happy with that (and I'm due a new baby soon).

BuddhaForMary · 09/02/2022 20:17

Considering it can be asymptomatic, many people will have been in that exact scenario already.

And the answer to your question is as long as I'm receiving the treatment I need. I wouldn't care.

LethargicActress · 09/02/2022 20:29

On balance, this is the right time for it to happen. We’re coming into spring soon, we know the most prevalent version of covid is mild, and everyone who wants to be has been vaccinated.

It will always be too son for some people and too late for others no matter when it happens.
