What Does Everyone Do For Valentines Day ( if anything)?

DH isn’t big on hearts & flowers usually but always comes up trumps on Valentines Day with 2 dozen roses ( not necessarily red) & chocolates. He buys flowers for DD13 too & has done since she was little, which is really sweet. We exchange cards & I sometimes get him a big bar of fruit & nut. Meal wise we have rarely gone out. This year we’ll probably have steak, chips, peas & breaded garlic mushrooms. DM just told me about the £15 Asda deal which is 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 sides, 2 desserts & a bottle of wine. There was a box of chocolates involved somewhere too I think. Good price although the portions of things like that tend to be pretty small.

That was it - wine or chocolates. Oh & a Sky movie voucher too.

We don’t do anything (yeah, I’m that person, sorry). We don’t. We never have. Not even a card. I think because my parents got engaged on Valentines so it’s always been their day to me, DH did say “are you sure?!” the first year I said “please don’t do anything”.

Oh and my dad gets me flowers. I’m in my thirties 😂

Nothing usually. One of us might get the other a card, maybe we both will, that's about it.

FoamBurst · 07/02/2022 16:28

We don't to be honest. We get cards because I'm a sucker for a card for my keepsake box.

He occasionally gets me flowers but does through the year so not always on valentines.

Weve never gone out as too much faff for sorting childcare.

We normally get a take away once the younger 2 are in bed.

Moonface123 · 07/02/2022 16:29

l am single so good excuse to get myself something, plus my two cats and beautiful bearded dragon insist, so l do quite well !!

GiantSpider · 07/02/2022 16:30

We exchange cards and maybe a small gift (a choc heart or similar). We go out for dinner, but not on the 14th itself (because DH claims that all the restaurants have a valentine's menu which is a rip off and are really busy so service is poor) - this year we've booked a table on the 16th.

KateTheEighth · 07/02/2022 16:30

Buy a card for each other but that's it Smile

UniBallEye · 07/02/2022 16:34

We buy a card for each other and that's it mostly.
Sometimes DH buys me flowers but he buys flowers a lot anyway as i love them.
We never go for a meal that night but over the years we have had the M&S meal deal etc

FourEyesGood · 07/02/2022 16:34

We usually do cards, but nothing else. Neither of us can be bothered with the faff. He makes me cups of tea every day; why would I need any other romantic gesture? Grin

mdh2020 · 07/02/2022 16:38

Card and gift - we met on Valentine’s Day. We don’t go out for dinner cos it’s always busy and a rip off. We have a widowed friend joining us on Monday evening.

RedCandyApple · 07/02/2022 16:39

Single so nothing

Thursa · 07/02/2022 16:40

Cards, presents and dinner out, because we are the tacky people who got married on Valentines Day.

Gooseysgirl · 07/02/2022 16:40

M&S dine in meal deal, that's it 😄

AlternativePerspective · 07/02/2022 16:43

Nothing. I am that person. Grin

When me and my DP got together his colleagues kept telling him that I would be upset if he didn’t go all out for me on valentines. They’re still not convinced that I think it’s a colossal waste of money 8 years on. Grin.

I used to know a couple who used to go all out for valentines. Hearts, chocolates, champagne, hotel room with rose petals the lot. For the other 364 days of the year they talked about how much they hated each other and couldn’t wait to get rid of the other one. If only they’d channelled that cash better they could probably have afforded a decent divorce lawyer sooner. Grin

lurkingfromhome · 07/02/2022 16:44

We buy each other a little gift, but nothing obviously Valentines-y. Maybe a nice plant for my office or I'll bake DH a cake he really likes (if I'm feeling especially romantic, I'll bake it in a heart-shaped tin to make him laugh). We do go out for food but never on the night itself - usually the following weekend we'll go out for lunch or something.

ABitBesottedWithMyDog · 07/02/2022 16:45

Nothing, we have it. We always have a romantic/happy celebration on International Women's Day in March, though.

CounsellorTroi · 07/02/2022 16:48

We exchange cards and little gifts. This year we are going away for a couple of nights to somewhere we both love.

Topseyt · 07/02/2022 16:54

We sometimes give each other cards, but not usually anything else.

We certainly don't go out to the overpriced restaurants. If we don't want to cook we might get an Indian takeaway.

OldTinHat · 07/02/2022 16:55

Sod all!

Trinacham · 07/02/2022 16:57

We always exchange cards. Sometimes get something little for each other, like some chocolate. Usually go out for a meal aswell, but this year we'll have our 3 week old son! Going to have a nice meal at home instead.

GooodMythicalMorning · 07/02/2022 16:58

We won't be doing cards but are planning on cooking for each other. He's making the main and I'm making pudding for us. It's our first together so we don't want to do anything too much.

maddy68 · 07/02/2022 16:59

We don't do anything it's all a bit "forced" I think

NaerDoWell · 07/02/2022 17:00

We usually get each other a little present - last year he bought me a nice gin and some daffodils and I got him cheeses from our local deli!

I get the kids some heart shaped chocolates or something like that.
