What Does Everyone Do For Valentines Day ( if anything)?

DH isn’t big on hearts & flowers usually but always comes up trumps on Valentines Day with 2 dozen roses ( not necessarily red) & chocolates. He buys flowers for DD13 too & has done since she was little, which is really sweet. We exchange cards & I sometimes get him a big bar of fruit & nut. Meal wise we have rarely gone out. This year we’ll probably have steak, chips, peas & breaded garlic mushrooms. DM just told me about the £15 Asda deal which is 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 sides, 2 desserts & a bottle of wine. There was a box of chocolates involved somewhere too I think. Good price although the portions of things like that tend to be pretty small.

It depends when the 14th falls. If it isn't a 'school day', we may well have a meal out or a night away , but this year DH will only be arriving back from the Six Nations in Rome on the Monday morning and, I suspect, will appreciate a good nights sleep rather than any schmaltz.

We militantly do nothing. Once, a million years ago, we actually went for dinner on Valentine's night in a lovely, high-end place, and it was hilariously weird -- there was so much tension in the air with the possibility of, or disappointment at the lack of, proposals. A waiter we knew said the kitchen had just refused to hide a ring in someone's creme brulée in case the woman choked on it, and the man had pitched a fit in an undertone, because the restaurant is tiny, so everything is audible.

The owner later became a friend of ours, and is a curmudgeon, who now shuts on Valentine's Day. Grin

Nothing, we have it. We always have a romantic/happy celebration on International Women's Day in March, though.
Aw I love the women's day celebration! That's lovely.

Nothing.
I think it is a bit odd when it is supposed to be about a secret admirer.
From the very start of our relationship I've always been a bit more practical too, and said I'd rather have a nice bunch of cheery daffs or some carnations or something every now and then throughout the year, than have him pay daft prices to get me flowers on a single day when prices go sky high.

We always do a nice meal at home but that's it. Used to do cards but felt a bit unecessary so we agreed to stop a few years ago. We usually go all out at home and cook fillet steak, chips and peppercorn sauce and share a bottle of wine. We don't need cards/presents but a really nice dinner at home is our way of quietly acknowledging it.

For the DDs I may buy chocolates or heart shaped biscuits. May not though (they're only 4 and 2 so are oblivious at the moment!)
