It's the start of the Winter Olympics for the Playmobil people in our house...

... and so I'll be bringing you a few scenes every day.

Today is the opening ceremony. Skater Andrei arrives in the stadium with the Olympic torch.

... and here is Candace.

Last to skate is Yevgenia.

Yevgenia has put in the performance of her life! People have thrown bunches of flowers and cuddly toys onto the ice.

She starts to pick them up and waves to the crowd as she skates off.

Now it's time for the medal ceremony. Zinaida has won bronze.

Candace gets the silver medal and Yevgenia has won gold! They are also each presented with a bunch of flowers.

They all wave to the crowd!

Ohhhhhh...I was really rooting for Svetlana( it's the name of my cardiologist!). But very well done to the medallists.

I knew Yevgenia would win gold by the crowd’s reaction!

Svetlana won't be too disappointed, as she and Gennady were medal winners in the pairs event.

Thank you, the most time consuming bit was setting up the spectators especially when they kept falling off their chairs and going down like dominos .

Oh I do love a proper medal ceremony. Bit worried that none of the crowd are wearing masks....... but fully understand that if it is hard enough to get them to sit on their chairs without falling then getting them to keep their masks on would be an impossibility...........

To answer your questions, no masks because the covid numbers are now very low in Playmoland and masks are not mandatory and nothing at all to do with the fact I only have 5 Playmo masks so there aren't enough to go round.

And no, that's not the milkman, that is Bossy Ross! He started off as the fire boat captain, then seemed to have a career change into the RPRS (Royal Playmoland Rescue Service) as a lifeboat coxswain. He is called Bossy Ross as he has a yellow megaphone and likes bossing people around.

I've had this week off work, as there weren't any shifts going on my regular ward, so have had time to watch a bit of the real winter Olympics this week. It has already given me a few new ideas for next time. So watch this space in 2026...
