….just wondering if anyone’s has knowledge (or theories) as to why it was promised yesterday but so far has failed to appear?!

OP posts:

Except the question is about whether he's actually running the party wholeheartedly or partying against lockdown rules.

If he was doing his job we wouldn't have this current scandal.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 27/01/2022 15:37

Perhaps they've run out of Tippex and are waiting for another gallon container from Rymans? Hmm

itsgettingweird · 27/01/2022 15:38

@HollowTalk

Well, those with parents, siblings, husbands and friends dying in hospital and care homes didn't break the rules, did they? My children couldn't be in the same room as their dad for several months before he died (he had a long illness and was in a hospital setting.) He died around the time that Boris and his mates were partying. You can't rule the country and have one rule for everyone else and one for yourself.
ThanksThanksThanksThanks

So sorry you and your children went through this. Horrific at anytime. Worse when restrictions are in place.

Calennig · 27/01/2022 15:41

DD1 suggested she was put of printer ink - I wondered if the lap top had died.

Watching newsnight last night I supect it more delaying - this time blaming police - and it seems to have somewhat worked as their focus groups was angry but also very fed up with it all and wanting to move on - and couldn't see an alternative PM they liked.

22itsallnew · 27/01/2022 15:42

It feels like we are slipping into a wormhole where the parties that Johnson said didn't happen, that turned out to have happened, can't be published in case its damaging to the people who attended the parties that didn't happen but in fact did.

Maybe Gray is having trouble tracking all the receipts for cheese, wine, ambush cakes and booze fridges?

I daresay there wouldn't be so much care taken in fact checking & protecting reputations if the investigation was into any of the public breaking lockdown rules.

lljkk · 27/01/2022 15:45

I dunno - the civil service is silo'd.

Different departments can have very different cultures & atmospheres.
Are the CSs working in Downing Street all in the Cabinet Office?

Sorry for your loss, but wether BJ did or did not attend, host a party, would not have any effect on the very sad deaths brought on by Covid, my own brother caught Covid at a work Xmas party ( team meeting) lucky mild for him, it was happening everywhere

Useranon1 · 27/01/2022 16:01

It wasn't promised yesterday.

The media was full of reports that it "could be published as early as today". Different thing.

Frederik33 · 27/01/2022 16:01

I don't know where the report is but it seems as if people are watching their backs and the report is being combed through very carefully.

As for the posters saying that instead of focusing on the report we should focus on the mess the country is in, I quite agree but it doesn't help if 10 Downing Street is staffed by people who like to party rather than concentrate on what they are supposed to be doing and work hard!

CorrBlimeyGG · 27/01/2022 16:04

Anyone that thinks Johnson is going to solve the cost of living crisis is utterly deluded.

TooBigForMyBoots · 27/01/2022 16:11

If rule breaking was ok, her children would have had time with their dad before he died. I am glad you're here though @Unphased to show that the Tories are still the Nasty Party.
Unphased · 27/01/2022 16:12

CorrBlimeyGG

That’s how I will judge this government, not wether they did or didn’t attend a work do / party,

baroqueandblue · 27/01/2022 16:13

I’d rather Parliament concentrate on running country, inflation going sky high, gas and Electric to at least double in price later this year, housing unaffordable if there is any available, roads full of pot holes, Covid still lingering

You were careful to say Parliament and not Government. If you hadn't been, the irony would be outrageous. As it is, parliament as a whole can only function to affect those areas of concern if the government come up with policy, so you can't blame 'Parliament.'

Unphased · 27/01/2022 16:15

TooBigForMyBoots
Sorry not a tory, just someone that’s more concerned about real problems, rather than someone did or didn’t attend work do / party,

123ZYX · 27/01/2022 16:16

I think the point was that Hollowtalk's children was prevented (by the government) from spending valuable time with their father before he passed away. The same government considered it acceptable to have social gatherings for themselves and their friends.

If they thought it ok to have social events, why did they not allow families to see seriously ill family members? Do they consider themselves to be more important? Or do they not consider the needs of the public at all?

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 27/01/2022 16:17

@Baystard

In a fridge.
Ah, you beat me to it!

I wonder if it has it's own shelf...socially distanced from any left over cake?

Unphased · 27/01/2022 16:17

baroqueandblue
Because it seems the rest of Parliament are more interested in parties, rather than forcing the government to do it’s day job,

Unphased · 27/01/2022 16:23

123ZYX
I would imagine they do think they are more important than us because of the position they hold,

Baystard · 27/01/2022 16:38

@pussycatunpickingcrossesagain

No it doesn't have it's own shelf unfortunately, it's just sort of jammed in between the wine and champagne cases...

Mrsalwaysnearly · 27/01/2022 16:38

DS 16 sent me this en route home from school today. Got slightly excited. Had to laugh 😂

Where is Sue Grey’s report?…
Bunce1 · 27/01/2022 16:38

It is so not about attending a work party. Of course it’s not. That’s a very obtuse way of thinking.

AlternativePerspective · 27/01/2022 16:38

I’d rather Parliament concentrate on running country, inflation going sky high, gas and Electric to at least double in price later this year, housing unaffordable if there is any available, roads full of pot holes, Covid still lingering, Russia maybe about to invade, etc etc, all seems far more important than worrying about was it a party or a work do, I know loads of people that broke actual Covid rules, I would imagine most people did in one way or another agree. Sick to death of hearing about the bloody things.

And the hypocrisy is astounding. 2 years ago people were calling for Dominic Cummings’ head on a block, now he’s being haled as some kind of paragon of truth and integrity.

And let’s not pretend that this stuff has only just emerged. The media were well aware of the Christmas parties last year, but it suited their agenda not to publish the information then because they didn’t agree with people celebrating over Christmas and knew that if they published the fact there had been a Downing Street party people would have been less likely to stay at home.

This year the media were against any restrictions so oh look, suddenly the pictures emerged.

In fact it wouldn’t surprise me if the Sue Grey report has already been seen by the press but they have decided not to publish it, and will instead leak it a bit at a time.

The government have much to answer for, but the press have been utterly reprehensible

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 27/01/2022 16:41

@Unphased If they can't stick to the rules they themselves set, but can lie about sticking to the rules they themselves set, and can lie about lying about sticking to the rules they themselves set, and are now hurling all of their energy into propping up this government, then how can they provide us with any hope that they can tackle any other problem greater than how to get booze into Downing Street?

How can anyone have any faith in them to act in the best interests of anyone other than themselves? It is shabby, contemptible, and insulting.

Classicblunder · 27/01/2022 16:50

@Unphased - hope Conservative Central Office has paid you for your internship

Unphased · 27/01/2022 16:50

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea
Oh come on, politicians over the decades have never kept to the rules, it’s nothing new,
I think they usually all act for themselves or the parties rather than for us
