My dad cooked it for me, it wasn’t as hot as usual and this mouthful was cold and tasted gummy. Sad

Is this raw chicken???

if chicken is pink then its raw

DoctorManhattan · 22/01/2022 19:26

Reminds me of the time I ordered chicken escalope in a restaurant and the (young) waitress asked me how I wanted it done. I looked at her quizzically and she elaborated, “rare or medium or well done?”. I replied ‘cooked!’ and it didn’t even twig with her, she just sighed and walked off to the kitchen! Thankfully none of it came out raw.

Pixies74 · 22/01/2022 20:08

Eurgh, this is also my worst nightmare Sad I've also had campylobacter before (from raw chicken in a restaurant 😬), and it was not pleasant to say the least.

Hope you're doing okay OP.. I think the onset of food poisoning can be any between 6 and 36 hours.

Also is your dad quite alright? How old is he? Any signs of dementia?

Rivermonsters · 22/01/2022 20:17

@Pixies74 he’s 52 Grin so I don’t think so

myyellowcar · 22/01/2022 20:47

@Rivermonsters I think a couple of days and you’ll know either way. Beware of the gin though, I once started with norovirus whilst out on the town drinking gin and gin now reminds me of the time I wanted to die on a hotel bathroom floor. Maybe have something you are a bit more indifferent to, just in case.

Rivermonsters · 22/01/2022 20:51

@myyellowcar thank you for the advice, how long did it take for the symptoms to show when you were sick?

OP posts:
QuelleSuprise · 23/01/2022 09:13

Are you still alive this morning 😀

Rivermonsters · 23/01/2022 10:12

@QuelleSuprise just feel under the weather and stomach ache this morning so not dead yet

IncompleteSenten · 23/01/2022 18:12

@Tsuni

Cavemen also died very very young from many different diseases, illnesses, poisoning etc.

No they didn’t

Did they not? So cavemen never died young or got sick or ate something poisonous? How do you know that?
MalbecandToast · 23/01/2022 20:02

How are you now @Rivermonsters?!

Rivermonsters · 24/01/2022 08:57

@MalbecandToast sorry for late response. I’m unwell, I feel tired (even though I’ve slept since half 10), like I’m going to pass out and I have a weird feeling in my stomach

That’s not really standard food poisoning symptoms. You would usually just throw up and be over it.

I wonder if your health anxiety is making you ill because you think you should be?

EarringsandLipstick · 24/01/2022 09:44

I was just replying to say the same. If you're sick it's from something else now - food poisoning would happen within 12 hours of when you ate the relevant item.

Feel better soon. 💐

DinaDirvla · 24/01/2022 09:48

Hmm, whilst food poisoning CAN take 72 hrs to materialise/incubate (so I understand), I'd agree that I'd have expected you to have known about any D&V from undercooked chicken by now. 🤔

It doesn't sound like your symptoms today are necessarily linked? Have you managed to eat or drink anything?

Rivermonsters · 24/01/2022 09:54

@RunningFromInsanity I’m not worried about it. I’m perfectly chilled, been doing some maths resit revision and watching Netflix

OP posts:
Rivermonsters · 24/01/2022 09:55

@DinaDirvla I’ve had a protein shake

OP posts:
INeedNewShoes · 24/01/2022 10:20

I don't think chickens in the UK have salmonella anymore. Basically, in the 80s I would have had THE FEAR after eating raw chicken, nowadays not so much.

I know other people who've inadvertently eaten raw chicken and been fine (one of them was in a nice restaurant Shock

MalbecandToast · 24/01/2022 11:41

@INeedNewShoes you still need to worry. A friends husband ate undercooked chicken at a BBQ in the summer, he was rushed into hospital due to the amount of blood he was shitting. He was really ill Sad

DinaDirvla · 24/01/2022 11:41

People with food poisoning aren't normally up to doing revision, watching Netflix and drinking protein shakes. WinkSmile
They mostly groan, faint and fall off the bog.

Or is that just me?

Fingers crossed the danger has passed and it'll settle. Flowers

UsernameNotAvailableHmm · 24/01/2022 12:00

I hope you're ok OP
I had awful sickness after eating under cooked chicken just before Christmas
But you may have got away with any horrible after effects, as others have
Maybe your dad was simply trying to jolly you out of worrying over being ill,
Although his words were a bit casual, he definitely needs his cooking skills reviewed
I'd be wary of anything he cooks for you in future

Rivermonsters · 24/01/2022 12:18

@DinaDirvla true haha. I just don’t know how to get rid of the tiredness

OP posts:
Mumdiva99 · 24/01/2022 12:23

Hey @rivermonsters that doesn't sound like food poisoning. Have you checked for Covid?

Rivermonsters · 24/01/2022 12:25

@Mumdiva99 I’ll do a LFT soon, bit of a stupid question but I had covid 3 months ago so are you more likely to catch it again?

OP posts:
Mumdiva99 · 24/01/2022 12:48

Well my youngest had it end Nov and again last week.....so yes.

Mumdiva99 · 24/01/2022 12:49

Sorry....didn't answer the question....are you more likely - I don't know. Can you catch it again - yes.
