Is this actually a jug?

I bought this jug in a charity shop for a pound and I really like it but can't work out why it has such a small opening and whether it's even a jug at all or if it's something else entirely. Any wise mumsnetters able to shed any light?

Is this actually a jug?

Its a vase my dear.

Yummypumpkin · 21/01/2022 18:27

Or an ornament?

Yummypumpkin · 21/01/2022 18:28

Actually now I think its a jug. The more I look at it the more confused I am.

Tobleronecheesecake · 21/01/2022 18:29

Yes I'm confused by it - I tried a google reverse image search but got nothing. I though it would be nice for making salad dressing in as I could slosh it around in there to mix it well.

It's very nice!

Shapiro · 21/01/2022 18:31

I thought it was a pie funnel but if it has a bottom then it isn’t!

Could be one of Gwyneths vag steamers!

PatriciaHolm · 21/01/2022 18:32

Looks like a tagine lid to me!

MeanMrMustardSeed · 21/01/2022 18:33

I thought candlestick?

AdaColeman · 21/01/2022 18:34

I'd say a ceramic olive oil drizzler. It should have a cork and a metal tube at the top.
Is there a maker's name on the base?
It's very nice!

Tobleronecheesecake · 21/01/2022 18:39

Thanks everyone. No no maker's name or any clues on it at all - I've done a google reverse image search and got nothing from that either. I like the idea of it being an olive oil drizzler and I think I may have one of those corks with a metal tube in my cutlery drawer.

It's an environmentally friendly covid mask from 2021 - worth a fortune these days!

@MeanMrMustardSeed

I thought candlestick?
I thought this too
unfortunateevents · 21/01/2022 19:06

It's cant be a jug because there is nowhere to pour from. Imagine the mess of trying to get milk into your coffee from that!

EishetChayil · 21/01/2022 19:07

It's lovely! Is it a mini tagine?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 21/01/2022 19:10

It’s a tagine isn’t it?

RallySooney · 21/01/2022 19:13

Is it for making pour over coffee maybe?
Turned upside down with a paper filter inserted and placed over a mug or coffee pot.

unfortunateevents · 21/01/2022 19:18

If the OP is asking if it is is a jug then it must have a bottom so couldn't be a tagine because how would you get the food in or out?!

CrystalMaisie · 21/01/2022 19:21

I’ve found it, but you may need a translator. I did an image search on Pinterest.

NannyGythaOgg · 21/01/2022 19:21

Could it be a (medical) steamer.
As in you fill it with hot water (and vick or eucalyptus or herbs) and breathe in the steam to alleviate bunged up sinus or relieve chestiness.

Ozanj · 21/01/2022 19:22

I think it’s a microwave kettle. I’ve seen a similar one before in India.

SnotMikeUpPuffedHe · 21/01/2022 19:26

That picture is an oil lamp.

SnotMikeUpPuffedHe · 21/01/2022 19:27

I mean the picture another poster found. You can see the wick.

WeAreTheHeroes · 21/01/2022 19:29

Taglines have conical lids with no hole in them so it ain't a tagine!

Dontgonearthecastle · 21/01/2022 19:29

Yes it's an oil lamp. It's missing it's wick though.
