AIBU to declare this is the best toast ever?

I am having toasted soda farl for supper. It is far better than any fancy new sourdough bread. It's available in most supermarkets in England but no one I know eats it. I have cold melting butter on it.

Can anyone recommend better?!

@CheeseMmmm

I wish I could get on with posh bread.

Various standard brown seeds etc ok. Sourdough DH makes v nice.

But what I love most of all from time to time is a pile of crispy bacon in between two thick sliced vv soft mainstream bog standard white.

I'll get my coat Grin

Grilled smoked bacon on white sliced bread with plenty of butter is a masterpiece.

Yes! Absolutely delicious.

My GM used to make soda bread, I loved it. Bought myself a pack of soda farls from M&S for my Christmas Day breakfast. Toasted with lashings of butter - food of the gods! Grin

As a NI person I was raised on these - every fry up back home comes with fried soda but I've always loved it toasted.

However I'm not sure it beats the spiced fruit bread from our breadmaker (cinnamon, mixed spice, raisins, golden sultanas and cranberries) toasted and spread with honey.

I didn't get any post birth toast either, just a miserable cheese and pickle sandwich which was the lunch ordered by the previous day's occupant of the labour room I was in. ( Who's bright idea was it to have a prior day ordering system for food in the labour suite?? Confused).

I hate pickle. I was VERY UPSET! Grin

I haven't had them for a while so stuck a pack on my Tesco order last night and they arrived this morning and had toasted with lashing of butter and some jam. Very nice!

Lord knows. It's ludicrous! I was given a pork curry - because it was ordered the previous day.

I don't eat pork. 🤮 Plus it stunk and the smell made me hurl - Now-ex-DH put it by the door but each time someone came in they said "you haven't finished your meal yet, I'll just leave it here for you" and put it right back next to me.

I had to claim that it was offensive to my religion before they took it away! Confused

Soda bread/scones are a Scottish staple too, so not just an NI favourite. Very easy indeed to make, but I haven't done it for years.

Thanks to those that linked to homemade buttermilk Thanks

I had a roast dinner after DC2.
After DC3, I told DH I was in no rush to leave, anticipating the same. I was so disappointed at being handed a sandwich. I'm still annoyed and DC3 turns 18 this week Shock

Wait until you've had some fried potato bread (fadge to the locals ) and soda bread with your Ulster fry....Best thing ever !
