Your Perfect (imagined) Life!

You have a blank piece of paper and a pen (or a post on Mumsnet) .... write down/describe your perfect life.

What would it be, where would you be living, in what part of the world or would you have homes in more than one place? Who would you be living with or would you prefer to be living alone?

What would your home look like, the rooms, the furnishings, the garden, the exterior? What would you be doing for a career or not, or would you prefer not to have to work?

Would you have loads of money, or be happier with just enough to get comfortable? Or would you prefer to live a more minimalist or even frugal lifestyle with very little in the way of possessions or wealth?

How would you spend your leisure time; would you like to be able to devote lots of time to a hobby or interest, and would you have any ambitions, or not?

It can be anything you like, anywhere you like, as much or as little as you like - but what would be your Perfect Life?

Being with my husband and kids. Having no worries when the kids will be in college as we will be able to afford it. Living in clean house surrounding by cats and dogs, working in a job that I like. Wishful thinking

Husband will be supportive, listening to me and loves me. My kids will be grateful for what they have

I'd have two homes, one a chic pied a terre in very central London and the other a Georgian house in a rural village or small-town setting. I'd do similar work to what I do now but only 3 days a week for twice the money. I'd travel a lot. I'd live alone but have a handful of younger attractive male friends with benefits on rotation. I'd have a lot of free time for culture, socialising and sleeping.

I would have no disability in which case pretty happy to live in the place I am now. I’d be independently wealthy so be able to do the job I do now but without the worry when contracts end.

If I have the disabilities I would have a flat in London so not miss driving, one of the outer boroughs. I’d have plenty of money to travel to the place I was born. I’d have had my ASD diagnosis at school and had support so life would be different now. Again independent wealth so same job.

On balance I’d prefer no disability- I know some people say it makes you who you are, but I’d never have experienced disability so would just be a different person.

@Roosk
I earn my living from writing and honestly (for me at least)
this is not true! It takes me more than half an hour of free time a day to properly research a subject, grasp an idea and tie it down on the page. I personally find I need to write myself into a period of flow to get any quality - but far play to those who can manage it.

"You need no equipment, training, education, preparation, and you can plan in your head while commuting/doing a repetitive task/on the school run. If you gave up half an hour of tv a day, you’d have a first draft of a novel in a year."

I’d have a chateaux in the south of France just inland from the coast. I’m doing it up but have plenty of money to do it so it’s fun and not stressful. There is a lovely gite on site to live in while we do the work so it’s very comfortable.
It has a beautiful pool and terrace overlooking rolling fields towards the sea. Although it’s January it’s already 17 degrees and spring is coming.
There will be tons of rooms to have friends and family visit as much as they want and I can host them all as have tons of cash.
The kids are happy and enjoy the local school and will be in the pool half the year and and outdoors at the beach at the weekend.

I own a bookshop in Brighton (North Laine, I think) and have a private income so I don't need to worry about paying the bills. The shop is open 10-4ish but not on Sundays, and if I feel like a day off I just don't open up. On weekdays I will usually close for lunch and go to The Prince George or The Basketmakers for a pint and some glorious veggie food. I don't have a mobile phone, but my friends and customers have my landline and they can call me if they need anything.

I own a large, tall house in Queens Park where I have people all around me but I cannot hear my neighbours. Lots of books, lots of art, lots of music, deep baths and lots of sleep. I pay for a gardener and laundry service, and don't cook all that much, mostly eating out. I have lost 1.5st and can eat and drink whatever I fancy without putting on weight. There is a fair bit of beer and some good wine and champagne. I walk everywhere but don't bother with exercise much beyond this. I go up to London for exhibitions now and then, but mostly stay in Brighton (which isn't cleaned up in my imagination: I don't need it to be).

DH is with me, filling his days as he pleases. DS is a little older and semi-independent, he has his own floor in the house and we hang out together downstairs whenever we feel like it. We have a bold and beautiful moggie cat, who is of course the ruler of the house.

I love my life and I'm very happy with DH, DS, my home and my work, in fact I feel like one of the luckiest women alive, but thanks for the invitation to daydream, OP Smile

In my perfect world we live in a house overlooking the sea in Cornwall or maybe on a gorgeous Scottish island. Beautiful sea views, but not on too steep a hill, thinking of my knees! The house has an annexe for when dad or friends visit (and the DC later). It's inherited from an old long lost aunt, so I still have to work. I do the job I'm about to train to do, but only Tues-Fri, leaving me lovely long weekends in my cute little art studio in the garden, illustrating children's books.

I'd be much thinner and of course, way more confident. I'd swim in the sea and walk the dogs along the beach, we'd have a little boat moored on the river. I'd cycle to the little village shop every day and to the pub for the odd lunch, for drinks and for quiz night on a Sunday.

I’d live in Upstate New York and would have four children - boy, girl, boy, girl. We’d have enough staff that I’d never have to do any housework or laundry, plus a chef who’d plan and prepare perfectly balanced meals for us all. Maybe a nanny too so they I could get a bit of time to myself each day just to chill, even though I didn’t work.

I live in Bristol in the heartland of community valued bliss.. what would I change? 😌
But if push came to shove I’d say I’d tweak my car into a hybrid, my involvement politically much more than delivering election leaflets, and my front garden would be an oasis of wildlife …

NerrSnerr · 16/01/2022 22:21

In my perfect life inside my head I'm a lot younger than I am now. I am a professional athlete and earn extra money as a composer (and have written a few very popular songs that have made it in the charts but I keep quiet about that). I have a modest bungalow overlooking the sea and I have just started dating Jamie Murray.

WeedSeaS0ur · 18/01/2022 07:14

Non stop travel to far away places that I've not been to before
Have excellent health
I would find things along the way to do like; assist with dinosaur digs, replant corals under the sea, help with animals, house sit, draw, learn languages, photography, research, read, people watch, eat new things, smell, new things, listen, wonder etc
