How clean and tidy is your house generally?

Such as day to day. On the scale of spotless all the time to absolutely filthy?

I’m guessing mist would be in the middle somewhere? But I know it depends on standards.

I think I’m in the middle but closer to the filthy end Blush

My house is rarely tidy as I feel like I’m constantly running both the dishh washer and the washing machine.

Clean clothes are always on the floor waiting to be put away.

The hoover comes out once a week, s does the mop.

The toilet is cleaned every other day. The bathroom once a week.

I can’t remember the last time I cleaned the windows/window sills/skirting boards.

Kitchen is the tidiest and cleanest room in the house… every day. But it’s used the most.

My downstairs is clutter free, but the decor such as the doors/handles/furniture/sodas dated as we can’t afford to replace at the moment… so it brings down the house imo.

We're usually around an hour away from 'guest-ready'.

Bathrooms and kitchen are pretty spotless.

Living room can get a bit untidy with books and toys, but isn't grotty.

Bedrooms can sometimes get a bit 'piley' usually folded piles of clean washing.

The hall floor gets leafy and muddy, so needs regular attention.

Chasingsquirrels · 15/01/2022 14:23

Very tidy, I hate stuff lying about. The dcs rooms are not tidy.

Probably lower-middle range of clean.
Robovac every night in living areas, 2 or 3 times a week in kitchen, once a week upstairs. But stairs which involve actual effort on my part every 2 or 3 weeks.
Bathrooms every few weeks.
Sheets changed every few weeks.
Etc

wineandchocolateforthewin · 15/01/2022 14:26

The house is clean (could maybe do with dusting again in certain places)
It's very tidy. We've always told our daughter to put away toys when she's finished so nothing is out.

Workyticket · 15/01/2022 14:26

Not show home by a long shot but tidying and clean. MiL and my parents pick ds up from school and take him to our house during the week so I try to keep it OK

Eufy helps keep the floors ok.

There are dishes on the side because the dishwasher is on and full

There's washing in both the washer and dryer but I only really wash on a weekend. Dried stuff gets folded or ironed and put straight into an Aldi bag for each person to put away

My nemesis is the coffee table. It's a dumping ground for everyone's shit and I'm constantly nagging or clearing it

The stair carpet is minging actually - needs a damp good hoover. I hate doing it - need to barter one of my dh's jobs this weekend I think! Grin

Oh and for context, it's DH, me, DD(5) Dah and I both work long hours, no cleaner since the pandemic. But we're both fit and healthy, so that helps. DH and I split the cleaning about 50/50 though I'm the main instigator.

Wombat98 · 15/01/2022 14:27

A member of my family was raided by the police & the house searched. They suggested a cleaner was needed!

AmberLynn1536 · 15/01/2022 14:28

Immaculate but there are only 2 of us and a dog, I also work part time so have the time and inclination to keep it that way, it’s a big house with lots of storage which makes things easier, I think smaller houses are easier to clean but get messier more quickly than larger homes.

ILiveAtNo10 · 15/01/2022 14:31

Fairly tidy and very clean. I clean the kitchen after every use. Other than vacuuming downstairs and wiping the bathroom sinks/making sure the toilets are clean I don't clean at all in between my cleaner coming unless someone spills something.

There's always a basket of washing that needs putting away on the spare bed, other than that it is guest ready tbh.

A lot of it boils down to having places to put things/not too much stuff imo. Single parent to teen DC and I have made a strong effort to get rid of stuff in recent years (preparing to downsize in the next five years or so).

JaninaDuszejko · 15/01/2022 14:31

Clutter image ratings - by this our house is a 1 (clutter free) with the DCs bedrooms and playroom verging towards a 2. I still think we could do a lot of decluttering though, we just have the room to hide clutter.

DowntonCrabby · 15/01/2022 14:31

It’s kept at a solid 6/10
Probably at 8/10 30% of the time
At absolutely spotless for I’d imagine 8 minutes a year.

ILiveAtNo10 · 15/01/2022 14:32

Also, I am out at work from 8-6 and DC at school 8-4:30 so thats a lot of time out of the house/not here to make a mess!

itsutterlyshit · 15/01/2022 14:32

Downstairs is always clean and tidy, could occasionally do with a dust but if people came round without any notice I wouldn't be bothered.

Upstairs is a bit more haphazard! Always clean but not necessarily tidy, our bed is always folded back to air which makes it look messy. Theres always washing on the spare bed to be out away and my dressing room/makeup area is organised chaos.

Over all its clean and not minging.

We both work full time shifts out of the house and different shifts so cleaning tends to be done in but small pieces room at a time. We never really do a big "deep clean"

TeamBlondie · 15/01/2022 14:35

Spotless 90% of the time, but it’s my job to keep house.

Hellolittlestar · 15/01/2022 14:36

I love a clean house and feel so much better when everything is tidy, but we have very bad habits, we lack storage or have too much clutter and everything ends up looking like a disaster in 2-3 days time after a big cleaning/ tidying session.

TenoringBehind · 15/01/2022 14:39

7/10

Big old house. Lots of dogs. Near impossible to keep spotless without spending every minute of the day cleaning.

Fringellacoelebs · 15/01/2022 14:41

Always clean and tidy. Sometimes in a state of flux as we have a baby and I can't always instantly put away dishes/washing etc. Toys are neatly put in corners/baskets once playtime is finished and kitchen cleaned and tidied after every meal.

I hate mess and dirt and clutter. I am very good at clearing out and recycling/giving to charity what we no longer use. I think my husband thinks I am a bit too ruthless but he appreciates a tidy clean house too so Grin

Lifeisnteasy · 15/01/2022 14:42

6/10. Daily tasks are washing up, putting bins out, wiping down kitchen sides, bleaching the toilets, laundry is generally put away as soon as it’s out of the dryer.

Weekly tasks are kitchen deep clean with mopping, clean the bathroom & shower cubicle, Hoover through the house, wash towels/bedding/tea towels etc

Every couple of weeks is change bedding, dust, generally go round the house for misplaced items

Monthly is cleaning windows, cleaning the fridge, having a sort out of clothes/toys etc

Bathroom is generally the messiest as I am a hoarder of half used bottles of product & all my towels are mismatched

SarahJessicaParkin · 15/01/2022 14:48

I used to be a bit of a neat freak, but lately have let things slide. We have young dcs, and they create so much mess! Kinetic fucking sand is my nemesis.

I'd say I'm in the middle. Trying to get it tidier by getting rid of a lot of stuff now. I crave a minimalist home! I'm doing no buy this year and decluttering a minimum of one thing a day. Usually more than that. Hoping by the end of this year, I'll have a less cluttered house.

KohlaParasaurus · 15/01/2022 14:52

Upstairs is a 9, downstairs looks more lived in, maybe 6 or 7.

GiveYourHeadAWobble · 15/01/2022 14:53

Averagely tidy (if there is such a thing). Starting The Organised Mum Method changed my life. It really works for me.

Hoolihan · 15/01/2022 14:55

7/10 for tidiness
5/10 for cleanliness

Gilly12345 · 15/01/2022 14:55

My house is tidy most of the time as I have ocd and like a clean, tidy home.

I hoover everyday, clean bathroom/en-suite two times a week and work part time and fortunately have a Hubby who also is tidy and appreciates an orderly house.

Having ocd is a pain but I am happy when the house is clean and tidy.

MooPointCowsOpinion · 15/01/2022 14:56

It’s a mess by my standards but then people come over and say it’s fine… I never know if they’re being polite or not! We have a dog and two primary aged children, everyone seems to leave things everywhere! I am always mopping up muddy paw prints and picking up socks.
I never feel on top of it, it’s really stressful.

EishetChayil · 15/01/2022 14:59

Tidy.

I can't stand mess, and DH grew up in a pigsty due to his parent's issues, so we're quite fastidious.

Reallycantbesarsed · 15/01/2022 14:59

@Port1aCastis

Clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy so about a 5
This with added dog hairs everywhere!
