I've just bitten the bullet and purchased one, was delivered today.
I'm going to try air fryer chicken and chips later!

We use ours nearly every day we love it!

Crispy pork belly, chicken wings, crispy squid etc.

Stuffing balls for the roast, chips and freezer crap all go in there.

Also finishing the crackling off for a roast in there sometimes.

I joke about men buying appliances for women as gifts but it’s honestly the best thing my husband has ever bought for me Grin

Happycrocodile · 09/01/2022 12:41

Following for inspiration because I just bought one too and I’m (sadly) extremely excited for its arrival!

Shyla867 · 09/01/2022 12:42

I'm on slimming world and the air fryer will become my best friend, so inspiration is definitely needed.

Which one have you bought?

Fabuleuse · 09/01/2022 12:45

All beige oven food (fish fingers, ready made chips etc) comes out nice and crispy. Basically anything ready made like falafel, sausages, pakora that needs to be nice and crispy comes out well.
I've done homemade chips, wedges, skinny fries.
Did a KFC style chicken that was good.
I've done chicken tikka masala and used the air fryer to crisp up the chicken pieces.
Grilled/roasted vegetables can be air fried instead in a fraction of the time.
I'm sure there is loads I've not tried. I like it as an alternative to switching on the main oven if I just want to do something small like a tortilla pizza for DS and it also avoids heating up the kitchen by using the oven in the summer.

RagzReturnedUnwrapped · 09/01/2022 12:46

Almost daily. DCs just made pizza baguettes in ours.
Good for frozen wedges, pies, sausages, nuggets, bacon, various vegetables.
I'm going to try 'boiled' eggs at some point.

It's a godsend if you are renovating a kitchen! Everything cooks in a clean sealed area!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 09/01/2022 12:49

Almost daily.

Any freezer food.
Anything breaded.
Anything that'll give off fat when it cooks, as ours is one with the raised basket and the fat drips down off the food.
Anything that is nice crispy. We reheat leftover roast veg it is lovely.
Chicken breasts cook nicely.
Oven chips go really crispy.

And things like croissants/pain au chocolat warm up nicely without going soggy.

Willowwarble · 09/01/2022 12:52

I am use mine daily, I try to keep energy costs low and it's very frugal. I have had cheese on toast this.morning and I am going to cook chilli in it later. All the usual stuff, sausages, chips etc. I batch cook baked potatoes in the oven and freeze and then recook.in the air fryer, It's great for cooking sausage rolls, makes good curries. The only thing I haven't mastered is bacon.

Cocolapew · 09/01/2022 12:53

I know nothing about them, is it quicker? How do you know how long to cook stuff?

SailorGeri · 09/01/2022 12:54

Following as I'm also considering getting one. I have rejoined Slimming World and think I'd get a lot of use out of one. I'd need a large-ish one I think for my family.

BobbyBleu · 09/01/2022 13:02

I use ours pretty much every day.
It's great for things like chips and sausages and all the kids food like nuggets etc
I recently did green beans in there with some garlic granules, onion granules and some Parmesan. They were delicious!

Are you on tiktok? There are so many recipe ideas on there.

Shyla867 · 09/01/2022 13:09

Can you only cook one thing at a time in there? So you couldn't cook chips and fish fingers at the same time presumably!

OP posts:
LiterallyKnowsBest · 09/01/2022 13:23

So you couldn't cook chips and fish fingers at the same time

Of course you can! As long as there’s room for both. And you’d need to be aware if they needed different amounts of time, so you could remove one first.

Would be more problematic to try combining something crunchy like chips with something wet.

I made a rather nice and very speedy vegetable casserole type thing in mine recently. Maybe more like a non-stir fry but with more liquid. Broccoli, as mentioned on the other thread, works brilliantly in the air fryer.

Fabuleuse · 09/01/2022 13:25

You're basically just limited by the capacity of the airfryer and the cooking times of the different foods. I've got quite a large one, instant pot vortex plus, and I couldn't fit enough fish and chips in for the four of us - could do either the fish or the chips. I sometimes wish i had two airfryers rather than an oven! But I could put in a small amount of fish fingers and small amount of chips for one or two people. You do need to ensure that there's enough air around the food to enable it to air fry properly, so a single layer of food rather than filling it to the brim.

CMOTDibbler · 09/01/2022 13:43

We just got a 2 in 1 air fryer so you can do chips and something else, and its great. Crispy tofu which we usually bake was incredible. We got it mainly as we are having a kitchen extension later in the year and so will have a long time without an oven

Echoesandsilence · 09/01/2022 13:52

As long as it fits size wise, I cook all our meat in there - chicken breasts, pork chops, mince meat. We also put in freezer food and roast potatoes etc.
Yorkshire puddings and part baked rolls cook in about a minute.

SeekingBalance · 09/01/2022 14:08

Everything! Our oven broke in December, I even cooked the Christmas Dinner in the thing! Just plenty of quality tin foil to keep food warm once cooked. It still throws me how quickly it cooks meat. Home made sausage rolls were amazing

PoorMegHopkins · 09/01/2022 14:14

Most days. Any freezer things are good. You can heat pasties etc. If you’ve left over potatoes, bung them in. Literally anything - I love mine.

florentina1 · 09/01/2022 14:29

We got ours yesterday. So far, chicken wings and peppers, chicken drumsticks, and potato croquettes with scrambled egg,

Today I made coffee and walnut cup cakes in it. I have the smallest one.

Strokethefurrywall · 09/01/2022 14:29

I have 2 and use them for anything that isn’t soup/curry/bolognese type meals:

Salmon
Home fries
Vegetables
Nuggets
Sausages
Tofu
Seitan

Etc etc. It’s excellent for meals after school

Missatkins · 09/01/2022 14:33

Halloumi fries!!

Shyla867 · 09/01/2022 16:31

I made roast potatoes in 15 minutes!
