Having pets instead of children is selfish

According to the pope

"Couples who do not procreate deny themselves the joys of parenthood, a decision which “diminishes us, takes away our humanity”, he said.

As he isn't a parent he has no right to say this IMO. What a knob.

He's clearly talking about himself here, poor lad. Using the royal 'we'. Sad

@AuntMasha

You’re not meant to take Catholicism seriously are you? Isn’t it all supposed to be a bit of a laugh?
Glorious. It wouldn't be new year without at least one bash the Catholics thread.
FOJN · 06/01/2022 20:25

The Pope thinks I'm selfish? I won't cry myself to sleep over it. 🤷‍♀️

userxx · 06/01/2022 20:43

Very fond of children some of those Catholic Church people.

Bet you wouldn't have dared post 'very fond of children some of these Muslim/Sikh/Hindu people'.
AuntMasha · 06/01/2022 20:47

I went to a Catholic school, that’s why I cannot take any of it seriously.

givethatbabyaname · 06/01/2022 20:52

I’d be willing to bet £1,000 that the Pope is NOT a virgin.

So did I. And was raised Catholic before lapsing in high style. I still manage to avoid pig ignorant, goady comments like "Isn’t it all supposed to be a bit of a laugh?", which, as someone who attended Catholic school, you should already know the answer to.

Has he ever owned a pet gerbil though?

That's the $64,000 question.

cheeseislife8 · 06/01/2022 21:01

This pissed me off today, what an utterly ridiculous, ignorant thing to say

RampantIvy · 06/01/2022 21:49

I won't repeat what DD said in response to this. It would probably get me banned Grin

Haha! It certainly is.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 06/01/2022 23:04

Has he ever owned a pet gerbil though?

That's probably what's put him off animals 😄

OhGiveUp · 06/01/2022 23:05

Yes well, and he's going to pay for their upkeep is he!

jamandmarmaladethesecondcoming · 07/01/2022 02:31

I'm going to get two cats.

See how he likes that!

Isaiah 54
Spread Out! Think Big!
“Sing, barren woman, who has never had a baby. Fill the air with song, you who’ve never experienced childbirth! You’re ending up with far more children than all those childbearing women.” God says so! “Clear lots of ground for your tents! Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big! Use plenty of rope, drive the tent pegs deep. You’re going to need lots of elbow room for your growing family. You’re going to take over whole nations; you’re going to resettle abandoned cities. Don’t be afraid—you’re not going to be embarrassed. Don’t hold back—you’re not going to come up short. You’ll forget all about the humiliations of your youth, and the indignities of being a widow will fade from memory. For your Maker is your bridegroom, his name, God-of-the-Angel-Armies! Your Redeemer is The Holy of Israel, known as God of the whole earth. You were like an abandoned wife, devastated with grief, and God welcomed you back, Like a woman married young and then left,” says your God. ..."

There you go - procreation is not everything according to the Bible. If you don't give birth to your own natural children you've time for other people, your influence can still spread far and wide.

Yummayumma · 07/01/2022 08:08

I'm not sure I'll be accepting moral lectures from the leader of the world's largest paedophile ring.

ChubbyMorticia · 07/01/2022 08:48

Uh… wasn’t Jesus single and child free, according to the Bible?

TequilaBlaze · 07/01/2022 08:59

Having children is the most selfish thing you can do.

TyrannosaurusRegina · 07/01/2022 10:47

@bachandbyte no, the sarcasm didn't come through, sorry lol. I've been through the same and it's bloody awful. He should have kept his mouth shut on that I think.

psydrive · 07/01/2022 12:06

He's the Head of a misogynistic and homophobic organisation, what did you expect? Yeah he's more progressive than Ratzinger, but that's not a high bar.
