I'm not a Catholic but I think the Pope is great. E is great with young people snd very relatable. Such a far cry from previous popes. I wish we had a similar Archbishop of Canterbury instead of the stuffy asses we end up with. He's the first pope to say animals go to heaven.

I really deplore the idea that that only people with children can comment on certain things. It's like saying stick to your own lane. Bollocks to that. I use all lanes as I see fit. I don't receive benefits but I can still campaign for the improvement of them. I'm allowed to have an opinion about anything I want.

I don't consider myself or my humanity remotely 'diminished' by choosing to be childfree.

As for 'the joys of parenthood' - of course it brings great joy to many, but it would bring misery to me and even more misery to whoever was the unfortunate result of my egg meeting a sperm. I wouldn't inflict my terrible genes or my lack of maternal instinct on any child.

By not having any children, surely people are helping to cut down on pollution and save carbon? Even having a few castrated pets must be environmentally better than having DC who would then themselves have children and pets.

The planet is hugely overpopulated and tbh I wouldn’t want to bring new life into the mess that is climate change and the future of the planet in 50 years

Don’t really think the pope has any right to speak on the matter but when thinking of a long term view, it is selfish.
There isn’t enough people being born right now in western countries.
It’s really as simple as that. There needs to be more children born to avert a huge crisis in 50 years (if we are all still here of course due to global warming)
But if we are still here society as we know it is going to be in a world of trouble if the current declining trend continues

Not everyone is maternal, I am most definitely not, and am happy to be childfree.

Everyone talks about over population until it comes to European people.

When the birth rate is called low and people are called selfish by the same people who talk about over population I think it shows unconscious racism.

So what if white people aren't having as many children as they used to.
