Two sons and DH love HP.

Was planning a surprise trip in the spring. Is it worth the money?

Well worth it - but it's not in London. It's in Leavesden, Hertfordshire.

sluj · 04/01/2022 22:14

Assuming you mean the Warner Bros studio tour?

EasyBreezy · 04/01/2022 22:15

Yes

Assuming you mean Warner Brothers studio tour, absolutely wort it. Try to go as early as possible before it gets too crowded, even DH who had only ever seen one film enjoyed it.

sherridan · 04/01/2022 22:16

Yes, if they are fans they'll love it

CiaoForDiNiaoSaur · 04/01/2022 22:17

@sluj

Well worth it - but it's not in London. It's in Leavesden, Hertfordshire.
And it's not actually called Harry Potter World.

But that's by the by. It's amazing. Our favourite day out ever. We're saving up to go again.

CasparBloomberg · 04/01/2022 22:17

Doubted it could be but went for DS birthday treat a few years ago. Absolutely worth it. Excellent day out. Shop is a rip off though.

Glenthebattleostrich · 04/01/2022 22:18

Absolutely loved it. It was really interesting and fun.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 04/01/2022 22:18

Yes, absolutely worth it, a great day out. I'd try and book one of the earliest time slots.

Angel2702 · 04/01/2022 22:18

Brilliant but tickets get booked up months in advance so you need to book early. We tried to book for my daughter’s birthday in July last year and there were no weekends left for the rest of the year.

Eeeeeps · 04/01/2022 22:19

Yes it’s absolutely brilliant

shakinsti · 04/01/2022 22:19

Yes. We took DD for her birthday. I haven't read any of the books nor seen any of the films and I thought it was amazing! For a true fan it must be absolutely mind-blowing.

AgathaMystery · 04/01/2022 22:19

It’s ace. Go on a school day though. Go all out.

ToooOldForThis · 04/01/2022 22:20

Absolutely amazing! Thought it would be over priced nonsense and it was actually so good. I think even a non fan would get something from it.

NeedWineNow · 04/01/2022 22:20

Like others have said, assuming you mean the Warner Brothers tour in Herts then yes, it is so worth it. DH bought me tickets for Christmas 2019 and we finally got there last summer. It was amazing!

Philandbill · 04/01/2022 22:21

We went because DD loved Harry Potter. The rest of the family really don't, but we actually all had a great day out. Lots of interesting things to see about the film making process as well as the reconstruction of the sets. Food as well as the shop is expensive though.

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 04/01/2022 22:21

We went recently and I really enjoyed it, despite not being a fan. I loved it more for the filming and effects, but it was still good to see the sets. I’d recommend seeing at least the first film.

KERALA1 · 04/01/2022 22:21

Yes. I don't even particularly like HP took the kids when they were very into it. One of our best days out ever.

Boogaloony · 04/01/2022 22:22

We went and it was brilliant! My two beiges weren't the slightest bit interested but we were going to Lego land and Windsor castle so added on HP as me and my daughter are fans. The kids adored it. So much so they have now watched the movies and are working through the books.

Stompythedinosaur · 04/01/2022 22:22

Yeah we really enjoyed it. There are quite a few extra things to pay for when you are there so don't be lulled into thinking the entrance ticket is it.

PickleSarnie · 04/01/2022 22:24

It's bloody brilliant. And I generally hate any sort of theme place and I hate lots of people. But I loved it. Exhausting though and the massive shop at the end is expensive and stressful to get kids out of without ending up broke.

We went last year and was probably a lot quieter than normal. Was a covid win for me because of the reduced numbers.

Justwingingit2005 · 04/01/2022 22:24

Yes sorry I meant the studio tour in Herts.....

Thanks all will have a look for a date..... something to look forward too!

Donotgogentle · 04/01/2022 22:24

It’s a tour of the Harry Potter studios not a theme park but if that’s what you’re interested in it’s great.

It’s easy to get last minute tickets at the moment if you log on early in the morning, about 6am. People can change the date of their visit up to the day before the scheduled date, so I guess those tickets are becoming available.

Danikm151 · 04/01/2022 22:28

Side note… if you can save up to go to universal in Orlando- HP there is amazing, you get to go on the Hogwarts express too

AgathaMystery · 04/01/2022 22:57

I thought the food was decent value for an attraction like that. It’s about £10 a head to eat. You don’t need to do the paid extra stuff (photos is all that comes to mind) it’s a really great value day out. The shop is £££ - buy them a wand online so you don’t end up forking out £35+ for one in the shop. Encourage the to dress up if they want. No one will bat an eyelid. Truly.

Try to go when it’s snowy. It’s magical. We went for celebration of slytherin which was okay but then again for the dark arts festival and it was amazing. The death eaters duel with the kids. They take off their costumes etc. Brilliant. We witnessed one kid (there with his parents) fighting (with Wands) with a death eater in diagonal alley and it was brilliant. The little boy knew every spell. He was great.
