Two sons and DH love HP.

Was planning a surprise trip in the spring. Is it worth the money?

More than worth it. Lovely.

I think by calling in HPworld you may have high expectations of a theme park type trip.

It's a tour of the studio. It's fab if that's your sort of thing. Great to see all the props and how it's filmed ect.

Also forgot that if you go on your birthday, you get called to the front at the start and get to open the doors to the great hall when you go in. DS absolutely LOVED that!

Yes it's brilliant it feels so magical.

Just to say we went on Friday and it was half empty. None of the queuing or crowding that I’d read about - I would guess due to Covid cancellations and schools being back.

There appear to be loads of slots for this week coming, so if you’ve been wanting to go, this would be a great uncrowded time to go. Appreciate it’s school time for most though.

Agree it’s more an exhibition of “how HP was made” than a theme park, though there were enough interactive bits/buttons to press etc to keep the DC happy, especially as we didn’t have to queue for these.

My Daughter was taken last year with her friends family for his 10th Birthday. His Mum said it was well worth the money and they absolutely loved it.

Oh, that's interesting! We're taking DTDs on their actual birthday - do we just whisper to the staff? (Surely anyone could claim it was their birthday?).

Often disappointed by lauded attractions.
WB Tour is fabulous. Just don’t buy anything in the gift shop!

ShowOfHands · 12/01/2022 11:24

The staff ask anybody whose birthday it is to step up to the front at the relevant moment.

Be warned though, we went on DS's birthday and he tried to get to the front for the Big Moment and 4 adults knocked him and a little girl out of the way in their desperation to open the doors. DS was gutted. It was one v small sad moment in a brilliant day and a member of staff who saw what happened did a very kind thing for DS and the other little girl to make up for their tears. When you go through to the cinema bit at the beginning, try and sit near the front to help your twins get a clear path to the doors.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 12/01/2022 11:29

We had a fabulous time.

Note that the gift shop is extortionate. If I'd know, I would have bought lots of HP bits (sweets, keyrings, sweaters etc) online beforehand for our DC to "take home"

Fantastic, thank you so much!
StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 12/01/2022 11:35

Hell yeah!

Luckystar1 · 12/01/2022 11:41

Ah I’m going to go against the grain here, and say… I didn’t enjoy it! We went as a group of 4 adults about 9 years ago. It was a boiling hot day and it was very busy so maybe that didn’t help, but I just didn’t find it magical at all and in fact for me, it ruined any magic in the films as it showed you exactly how it was made.

But I know I am in the extreme minority!

drinkingwineoutofamug · 12/01/2022 11:47

Been 3 times. Loved it. Last 2 times was Halloween so they had death eaters following you about.
Gringotts bank and forbidden forest was excellent.
Shop over priced , £10 for a chocolate frog!
Butter beer , ice cream is nicer , you can now buy it in bottles to take home. I did invest in a ravenclaw jumper £79 .

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 12/01/2022 12:11

I went for my DDs birthday in December 2020 and they didn't do the birthday call (possibly due to covid restrictions).

TheLeadbetterLife · 12/01/2022 12:17

I got given tickets as a wedding present. I like the books, not so much the films, and I dislike theme parks and crowds.

It's bloody fantastic. The films may not be a patch on the books, but my god they are an incredible achievement in film-making and the tour demonstrates why and how.

SilkySuky · 12/01/2022 12:18

Yes definitely. I was sceptical as it is very expensive, but would go again. We are not massive fans but all loved it.

maya71 · 12/01/2022 12:36

Yes, it was amazing and I am really not a Harry Potter fan at all.
