Is it ok for teen dd to wear a sports bra everyday?

Dd (almost 15) has asd and find regular bras uncomfortable. She’s been wearing sports bras from primark but has asked to try regular bras again. After an unsuccessful trip to m&s she’s said she’d like to stick to sports bras after all.

Are sports bras really ok for her to wear everyday? I can’t put my finger on why she shouldn’t…maybe because they aren’t good for her developing breasts? Dd argued that they’re MORE supportive than bras and I didn’t have an answer for that! Are they too restrictive?

Any advice would be appreciated 😊.

Ooh the sloggis are great.

I wouldn't want to/ would prefer my DD did not wear a sports bra every day, but I'm of the school of thinking that bras are unhealthy in general. (I appreciate we are all different shapes and sizes and have different needs.)

I'd try something like sloggy or radiant chaos where they're made to measure. There are great underwire free options are now. Good luck.

Boob or bust is an amazing Fb group for tapping into lots of bra knowledge

Another vote for the Sloggi Zero Feel range. My ASD daughter has had great success with these after a failed attempt at traditional bras. They wash beautifully as well, so not the cheapest but long-lasting.

@BingoLingFucker and @amusedbush can I ask which sports bras you buy please? I am autistic and do quite a bit of exercise but would love to find a sports bra comfy enough to wear daily

Sports bras are fine and they tend not to be underwired. I sometimes wear one all day to save time getting ready to go out for a run in the evening. Mine are more high impact but most of the brands do lower impact bras too like Runderwear, Under Armour and Element Karbon (the latter is more of a crop top than a bra).

I recently discovered Runderwear bras. They are very light and don't feel like they should be supportive enough for running, but they are! They are quite expensive but the bras I wear for daytime are, too.

Also Shock Absorber do a good range and I have crop top types from Under Armour and Element Karbon which I use for outdoor fitness classes and used to use when I had a personal trainer.

@EssexLioness I’ve had shock absorber bras for years.
There’s one with a clip high up at the back which I like as the straps don’t move at all.

I've always worn them (apart from when I've needed breastfeeding bras). It's not caused me a problem so far.

I haven’t worn a bra for the best part of a decade now. I wear bralette or sports bra every day and will continue to do so. I like Runderwear too.

@SleepingDoglets thank you!
