Do you have a IKEA kitchen?

If so.... are you happy with it?
The cost
The quality
The fitting

Got an appointment booked in a couple of weeks with them.
Was going to go with wren but my friend had a bloody nightmare!
Just looking for advice and tips really. Thanks

Yes, yes and yes. There was a mistake with the work top which they rectified which was a bit of a pain (had to be delivered and fitted again) and they have us a £250 voucher.

Following. I will be ordering a kitchen this year after putting it off for 8 years. Currently living in an early 1990s monstrosity

friedeggandsauce · 03/01/2022 17:41

I'm interested to know as we need to get a new kitchen. I know dh will complain and say IKEA isn't the only option (I do have a thing for IKEA 😳) but I think they look really good and have great storage options!

We have one and I've been very happy with it.

Halfarsedjingler · 03/01/2022 17:44

Yes to all 3, we have fitted 2 ikea kitchens (different houses) and have been reallybhappy with both.

paintfairy · 03/01/2022 17:44

Can't comment on ikea but definitely do not go with wren!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 03/01/2022 17:46

We got an ikea kitchen 11 years ago and it's holding up really well. We got it fitted by someone else due to cost so dang comment in their fitting but the units and worktops are fab.

fudgecat · 03/01/2022 17:46

Yep, very pleased with it but with hindsight I would have gone with recessed plinth at the bottom rather than having it flush as it has got a bit bashed and bumped

Jenjenn · 03/01/2022 17:46

Yes, yes and don't know as dh fitted it.

Randomdogbite · 03/01/2022 17:48

Our ikea kitchen is great, I feel very confused when people show me their 30k kitchens and ours was about 3! It’s 8 years old now and possibly the doors are a bit tired but could be so easily changed.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 03/01/2022 17:49

Fitting really expensive then?

Ooo watching with interest! Hoping this year is the year I finally get my new kitchen!

delilahbucket · 03/01/2022 17:49

Quality of the worktops definitely not. It chips and scratches so easily. Can't comment on the fitting as we had a separate joiner (who ruined large parts of it). They sent us the wrong worktop initially which we waited five weeks for, then another four weeks for the replacement. They never collected the wrong one, we were left to deal with it. The appliances aren't that great and we bought the more expensive ones. I wouldn't get another kitchen from them.

JorisBonson · 03/01/2022 17:50

Yes. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Almost 3 years old and still looks brand new.

Leftbutcameback · 03/01/2022 17:51

We almost did, but the customer service was appalling. That was mainly around fitting so might be ok if you’re just buying it. We had paid for if, got through the finance, they tried to deliver it weeks too early and then the fitting appointments were a nightmare. In the end they cancelled it by mistake so we took that as a sign. Went for DIY kitchens to supply, and local fitters.

ChimChimeny · 03/01/2022 17:54

Ours was about £5k all in and the fitting was £1,300. We did the floor/painting etc ourselves so didn't mind paying for fitting. They were much quicker than we would have been as well
HangersGalore · 03/01/2022 17:54

Mine is nearly 9 years old, looks brand new. It is the Faktum one not the new Metod one. I had a kitchen fitter install it as I had a kitchen extension built so it was through the builder.

All my lower cabinets are pull out larder drawers with a hidden internal drawer too. Means you never have to reach over something at the back of the cupboard. Each larder has a an accessible drawer above it for cutlery or utensils or spices.

At the time it was put in my children were 10 and 7 so were never very gentle with any of it. I compared the price of a standard 60cm wide cabinet across lots of kitchen companies. The internal fittings were also much cheaper. The only issue with Ikea is they don't do all cabinet sizes I believe ie 50cm wide but that may have changed with the Metod.

We only bought the units and extractor from Ikea, the appliances, worktop, sink, tap etc came from all over the place. We just used the measurements from the Ikea appliance cabinets to see what fitted. Originally we had Whirlpool touchscreen then the oven and combi microwave died after 7 years of pretty much daily use and we changed them to Hotpoint (same company). They can't be repaired after 6 years as the parts are unavailable.

No regrets with any of it. Love my kitchen.

SwedishEdith · 03/01/2022 17:54

11.5 year old one so the old Faktum style. Very happy with cost and quality. Didn't use their worktops and only appliances were the f/f. I'd get different ones if could pick again.

Builder fitted it - suspect a real kitchen perfectionist would have tweaked some things but they're only things I can see. Would definitely use Ikea again.

ChimChimeny · 03/01/2022 17:55

They do this with us too but we didn't mind because we used one piece to make a desk for DH at the start of lock down & another piece to make.my mum a desk

daisychicken · 03/01/2022 17:57

Ours is 17 years old - we collected and fitted it ourselves so can't comment on delivery or fitting but the the quality is excellent. We replaced the worktop 18 months ago as it was showing wear (15 years old though!) but carcasses, doors and handles are still in excellent condition.

Jackofallsorts · 03/01/2022 17:59

I've never bought anything in IKEA which I'd didn't regret within a few weeks of purchasing. Can only imagine an IKEA kitchen would be a disaster in the long term.

BarbaraofSeville · 03/01/2022 18:01

Yes to all three. Was fitted by a joiner friend who also did the timber on our extension. Five years on it's still all like new.

You want the pull out drawers in the base units. Life changing.

DMCWelshcakes · 03/01/2022 18:03

Bloody love ours. Fitting was fine too. It's been in a few years and we've not had any problems with it.

My Ikea kitchen has been in 4 years and I couldn’t be happier with the kitchen. But don’t get their appliances.
