Heavy period help please

Loopylou6 · 01/01/2022 18:27

I think I have PCOS, for the past 3 years I've had no period as such just mostly spotting with the occasional heavier bleed.
This morning, I woke drenched in blood with clots, I'm changing pads every hourish, transamic acid has calmed it slightly, but I'm just a bit freaked out?
Anybody with any experience? I'm also under A LOT of stress at the moment.

You need to be checked.

Is there any reason you haven't been checked? If you don't mind me asking of course.

Hawkmoth · 01/01/2022 18:28

Call 111. This is not normal and could be a sign of something serious and urgent.

Loopylou6 · 01/01/2022 18:31

Because I'm too scared. Yes, I realise that sounds pathetic.
Hawk, like what? Shock

I would call your GP asap. 111 if it doesn't stop in a day or so, or you become unwell. This isn't normal

2022willbebetter · 01/01/2022 18:38

You need to be checked, that's not normal bleeding.
Much more scary to not know what's causing it.

BeLessMe · 01/01/2022 18:41

ABNORMALLY HEAVY BLEEDING
About 25 percent of women have heavy bleeding (sometimes called hypermenorrhea, menorrhagia, or flooding) during perimenopause. Some women's menstrual flow during perimenopause is so heavy that even supersized tampons or pads cannot contain it

It could just be your age unfortunately but worth seeking some reassurance.

Loopylou6 · 01/01/2022 18:42

Could it be a big build up that's decided to come out? I know my hormones arnt right because lack of regular monthly period, and I also have chin hair that I have to remove with cream every couple of days

Thank you everyone. My friend who is only a few months younger than me did a home test and found out she is peri menopause.
I'm so stressed, upset and sad 😥

Rexthesnail · 01/01/2022 18:45

You really need to get checked out. It's not normal for you so it's abnormal. How are you feeling besides the bleeding?

Loopylou6 · 01/01/2022 18:48

I feel OK physically, but my anxiety is through the roof. My dh is a massive alcoholic whos had seizures in the past, and is now severely pissed up in bed where he's been for days

Woodlandwater · 01/01/2022 18:54

Have be you had the vaccine or booster recently? Since o had the vaccine my periods have been like this. I go through an ultra tampon every 30 mins for at least 3 days at the beginning of my period now. It means I'm pretty house bound.during that time.

PinkButtercups · 01/01/2022 18:58

Oh, I feel for you. I really do. I have health anxiety so get how you feel.

I had abnormal bleeding when I was 24. 29 now and they wouldn't smear test as I was too young 🙄. Anyway, I got sent for a colposcopy which is the next stage after an abnormal smear. Touch wood all was okay so they then scanned me for PCOS. They said I had markers for it then retracted what they said 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I know it's scary but the best thing is to get checked. There is no point living with this anxiety it'll make you ill.

Give 111 a call and they will advise you on the next steps.

NineteenForever · 01/01/2022 19:11

Please talk to 111 and give them an idea of the quantity of blood you're losing. I lostca lot last summer and my red blood count was down such that I needed transfusions. By the way, I'm s* scared of internal examinations so it was a big but necessary leap to get help. But you need help, just start by making a call.

Loopylou6 · 01/01/2022 19:13

What was your outcome 19?

OP posts:
SandingWithMyUnshavenLegs · 01/01/2022 19:15

It could also be fibroids. Please don’t put off getting medical attention. Best to get things sorted now, it will be a lot better for you in the long run.

Loopylou6 · 01/01/2022 19:35

I'm so scared Sad

PinkButtercups · 01/01/2022 21:05

Did you call 111?

Fallagain · 01/01/2022 21:19

You really need to at least ring 111. How long has this being going on? If it’s been all day then you really need to be checked out as you could be in danger of losing too much blood. Heavy blood loss is a reason to visit A and E.

Ilikecheeseontoast · 01/01/2022 21:33

Aww bless you it’s so scary when periods go haywire. Mine were unusually heavy and prolonged after the Covid vaccibe (not immediately after but a few months later). They have since returned to normal. I hope things re calming down for you. There are lots of possible reasons, thyroid, fibroids etc. Please try not to worry, that won’t help

emmathedilemma · 01/01/2022 21:34

I would take ibuprofen and tranexamic acid and make an appointment with your GP. Have you never been investigated as to why you don’t have periods?
I had a similarly bad bleeding episode (had to sit on the loo while I rang 111 it was so bad!) but to be honest, the trip to A&E they sent me on was a waste of time! They didn’t even examine me other than temperature, blood pressure and a pregnancy test (despite my pleas it would be an immaculate conception if it was positive!) so lots of waiting around and got told to keep taking the TA. It subsided but then I had another couple of slightly less severe episodes over the next couple of days. I did have a diagnosis of fibroids though and I think the bleeding was caused by a mirena coil which is assumed to have expelled itself during this time!

LapinR0se · 01/01/2022 21:37

OP do you have a fever?

Loopylou6 · 01/01/2022 23:22

I don't lapin
