Rash between boobs (TMI photo). Help before I claw them off .

Have had a rash under my breasts for months, nurse at surgery said probably a bit fungal - think that was in June - and gave me canesten HC which I’ve since run out of .

It’s flared up like crazy last few days and it’s different to what it usually is, it’s now in my cleavage and it’s driving me insane . I’m waking up scratching in the night until it’s bleeding/scabby . Smells a bit sour (sorry) so I’m guessing there is a bit of thrush there .

I’ve switched bras, I’ve switched soap powder, wash daily, go bra less when I can, try to sleep with no top on, dry with a hairdryer after bath/shower and no difference . I’ve tried using all sorts of creams that I’ve got in the house, no difference .

GP surgery closed til Wednesday and I’m guessing they won’t be able to see me for it anyway . Was going to try and get thrush medicine from Boots and see if that helps? Is there anything else I could do ?

Buy some hydrocortisone cream over the counter at the chemist. Keep anything perfumed away from it (soap / body lotion etc) and try to just wear a cotton crop top?

delilahbucket · 01/01/2022 16:43

Have you tried sudocrem? Hydrocortisone shouldn't be used if your skin is broken.

SmallGreenStripes · 01/01/2022 16:44

Metanium is amazing for this. Only a little bit.

If it's a bit red and shiny try some sudocream and make sure you have a well fitting bra which keeps boob skin off chest/other boob skin (no sweaty crevice).

Craftypuss · 01/01/2022 16:46

Athlete's foot cream!!! Sounds odd, but that's what I was recommended by the nurse who saw a similar rash on me when I went for a mammogram. Works quickly, too!! It's to do with it being a warm, damp place.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 01/01/2022 16:47

Metanium would ease that - a tiny bit

Could you lay on the bed in the nudie to let everything air for a bit everyday

Christmas1988 · 01/01/2022 17:02

Nappy rash cream will work wonders on that!

MamaRaisingBoys · 01/01/2022 17:04

I’ve had this problem, only thing that worked for me is Aveeno, the blue one. Almost instant relief!

EdHelpPls · 01/01/2022 17:05

Ouch! Maybe facecloths tucked into bra to absorb sweat and stop skin rubbing and swap regularly for a few days while it heals up. (If at chemist anyway, maybe some gauze might be a better, thinner alternative)
Once its healed a bit, medicated powder is good on an ongoing basis (I use it in the summer) but don't use it now as it'll probably sting like mad.

It could be this dermnetnz.org/topics/intertrigo

biggestbloopers · 01/01/2022 17:12

I'd also be tempted to try nappy rash cream on that as a stopgap. I'm not sure if it's available in the UK but in some countries there's a type available which has an antifungal in it too, called Daktozin. But daktarin with a zinc oxide nappy cream on top would probably have the same effect (I say that with no medical knowledge whatsoever though...!). Hope a pharmacist can help though!

OakRowan · 01/01/2022 17:13

Athletes foot powder.

TheHoptimist · 01/01/2022 17:14

Lamisil fungal spray
If no change in 7 days get gp to have a good look at it

MrsRoyCropper · 01/01/2022 17:15

Sudocreme applied to clean and dry skill should help. To reduce recurrence try applying talc after bathing too.

Blueducks · 01/01/2022 17:17

I get sweaty boobs and a rash as a result! This works well

Totalwasteofpaper · 01/01/2022 17:20

Yep it's fungal aka gym rash

SpiderinaWingMirror · 01/01/2022 17:23

Athletes foot powder is what I use.
Game changer

MrsMoastyToasty · 01/01/2022 17:38

Athletes foot powder or spray, then anti perspirant- deodorant to stop further sweatiness.

GTAlogic · 01/01/2022 17:41

Thrush cream works on mine.

Immaculatemisconception · 01/01/2022 17:41

It's thrush, get some Canesten Cream.

vodkaginwine · 01/01/2022 17:42

Oooh I get this at times, is bloody awful. A cool shower to clean it all, no products on it, and sudocreme. I’ve also ditched underwired bras for sports types, and use rolled up muslin cloths under the boobs to help separate it all and absorb the sweat .

Cakemadeoffruit · 01/01/2022 17:43

Slather on sudocrem at night. Then once showered off and dry use roll on deodorant under the boobs. The deodorant is a game changer as it stops it reoccurring.

TwinkleTwinkleLittleStarFightr · 01/01/2022 17:44

Athletes foot cream or powder, or canesten for thrush. All antifungals.

MrsPatrickDempsey · 01/01/2022 17:46

Just coming with solidarity. It's awful. Mine flares up - looked like nappy rash with broken skin last week. A cocktail of Sudo, hydrocortisone with Cannestan and a powder helps. Soap definitely aggravates it.

thecapitalsunited · 01/01/2022 17:48

I get this. I find that I must wear a bra because otherwise I get sweaty and it stays moist and the rash comes back. Clean bra every day, all day. If your under boob touches your skin then it can’t dry out without a bra on. You could try putting some on something like the Sure or Dove 72hr deodorants that you use overnight under your boobs and in the cleavage crack. I find it responds well to moisturising but use one that sinks in quickly and isn’t greasy.
