Rash between boobs (TMI photo). Help before I claw them off .

Have had a rash under my breasts for months, nurse at surgery said probably a bit fungal - think that was in June - and gave me canesten HC which I’ve since run out of .

It’s flared up like crazy last few days and it’s different to what it usually is, it’s now in my cleavage and it’s driving me insane . I’m waking up scratching in the night until it’s bleeding/scabby . Smells a bit sour (sorry) so I’m guessing there is a bit of thrush there .

I’ve switched bras, I’ve switched soap powder, wash daily, go bra less when I can, try to sleep with no top on, dry with a hairdryer after bath/shower and no difference . I’ve tried using all sorts of creams that I’ve got in the house, no difference .

GP surgery closed til Wednesday and I’m guessing they won’t be able to see me for it anyway . Was going to try and get thrush medicine from Boots and see if that helps? Is there anything else I could do ?

Sudocrem if it’s sweat rash, OTC Daktarin (athlete’s foot cream) if it’s fungal.

emmetgirl · 01/01/2022 17:49

I've got big boobs - sudocream usually works for me.

Dogfacepacer · 01/01/2022 17:50

Nope, been here, please listen. That’s fungal - tinea corpora, and whilst you need an anti fungal, you won’t get enough of a concentration in the tissue with a cream, so you actually need a short course of oral fluconazole to shift it permanently.

Does it get red and shiny?
I get intertrigo sometimes because I'm a fatso.

You have to be meticulous about drying after showers and keeping everything as dry and sweat free as possible when you have folds and bits that never see the light of day.

Theres a powder that's really good. Medipure.

Wash a lot, dry thoroughly, use powder so you don't get sweaty and try to air stuff out regularly

rashhelpplease · 02/01/2022 18:53

Sorry for late reply, been a busy 24 hours ! I thought interigo as well but I get that in my groin a lot and doesn’t feel the same . It’s burning/crawling constantly . I’ve switched to aveen shower gel . Couldn’t find an open chemist within 30 miles unfortunately, but going to try and find one tomorrow and get nappy cream etc . Put cetraben on it last night .

It’s blistered over today and feeling absolutely rotten - dizzy and shivery, so am beginning to wonder if it’s actually shingles - started from a single blister and now have dozens … sister suggested ringworm last night too .

It’s not painful though - just tingling and burning - and it’s bang centre so not sure if it can be shingles .

It doesn’t look like ringworm but that does sound and look like shingles, OP - I’m sorry! Can you send the photo to your GP or OOH GP, as they can get you on antivirals if so?

WoodburnersRUs · 02/01/2022 19:07

If it’s gone shiny anywhere athlete’s foot cream works very well - I applied it morning and night and then for about a week after it went as you need to keep going for a bit after the rash has gone otherwise it can come back. Clotrimazole is the active ingredient.

goingtotown · 02/01/2022 19:07

Sudocrem Antiseptic Cream, the one in the grey pot.

i have the same issue but under each of mine, the only relief i get is when i put 2 sanitary pads sticky side together and place them under each breast as it stops them rubbing and absorbs any sweat etc, its also rather nice if you can put the pads in the freezer beforehand too as the cooling helps stop the itching for a while
DeathMetalMum · 02/01/2022 19:12

You can buy clotrimizole over the counter. Apply two - three times a day. Should clear it up. Antihistamine will help with the itching.

crochetmonkey74 · 02/01/2022 19:16

I used to have this really badly OP , what keeps it in check is a clean bra every day and I have soft cotton strips of fabric (I made them myself from 100% brushed cotton pillowcase) that I tucked into my bra to keep everything clean and completely dry. I used the canesten AF cream. I found that is the only thing that works. I normally have to do it for several days in a row, to clear it then maintained with the clean daily bra/soft cotton strips.

Eggshausted · 02/01/2022 19:24

I had exactly the same! This cream from Amazon cured it in 2 days. It’s a small pot, but you can use it sparingly. I also used some cotton hankies in side my bra and under my boobs at night, (you could cut up an old sheet or pillow case. It absorbed any weeping.

another rec for sudocreme. Its def about two areas of skin being togeher whilst getting warm etc, so wash daily and dry well, apply sudocreme over night I find works pretty quickly

amicissimma · 02/01/2022 19:39

Try a thin cotton tee shirt worn under your bra, a clean one every day.

If you can't get a doctor to look at it try a pharmacist. A good one will have a private corner where you can expose the necessary area. IME they have a gained a great deal of experience since it became so hard to see a doctor.

RB68 · 02/01/2022 19:40

oh and i ditch the bra overnight for sure

ProfYaffle · 02/01/2022 19:43

I'd also add tea tree soap to the suggestions. I find if I use it as my regular soap in the shower, it stops the rash developing in the first place.

Tunnocksmallow · 02/01/2022 19:51

Wash thoroughly, pat dry. Canestan cream and a soft cloth over the top to prevent bra rubbing against it. Keep doing this until it clears. Then use talc or dry cloth to keep dry. Wash and dry everyday. Especially when it’s warm.
I avoid Sudocreme as it seems to feed it and make it worse.
I get this a lot if I don’t stick to the above routine as I have a vv v large chest!
Good luck OP

Brunilde · 02/01/2022 19:58

I've had this in both pregnancies when I stopped wearing underwired bras as in a non wired one my boobs touch in the middle and get sweaty. . Nothing shifted it despite numerous visits to the GP and loads of different creams. Cleared up once I could wear normal bras and keep them apart so minimal skin on skin contact.

Taxiparent · 02/01/2022 20:00

Daktarin spray, the athletes foot one. Much better than cream as it dries quickly, great for under boobs too.

FuzzyPenguin · 02/01/2022 20:03

Poor you that looks really painful, hope you get something that treats it soon.

Just to add my voice I suffered from a rash under my breasts which really itched and was smelly at times. I was desperate and grabs some tea tree oil. It stung like crazy but it healed it up.

GrumpyTerrier · 02/01/2022 20:04

I get this. It needs drying out so creams didn't work. I use food grade diatocaceous earth like talc (you can buy it on ebay) and I roll up a pair of socks between my boobs until it goes away.

It's also got tons of other uses.

JuneOsborne · 02/01/2022 20:11

Take an antihistamine if you have any.

Do you have any chamomile teabags? Steep a few in hot water. Allow to cool completely and then get it fridge cold. You can cleanse the are with the tea and then apply the teabags directly to the area.

Looks bloody sore, you poor thing.

Lennybenny · 02/01/2022 20:13

Another one for athletes foot cream.

Mykittensmittens · 02/01/2022 20:15

Yep to drying out. Of course apply topical creams if needed but between that use a medicated talc (cuticura is good, boots sell it). Reduces the itch enormously.

nosyboot · 02/01/2022 20:16

Try soap, body wash or something with tea tree in, it's used a lot more in NZ / Aus than UK but it's got antifungal properties. Got rid of my athlete's foot very fast.

Don't use tea tree oil undiluted as it is strong and can irritate skin.
