Do you know a Randy?

I was thinking about names that are common in the US but that you would rarely find over here in the UK. I can't imagine meeting a Randy.

Similarly:
Hunter
Patty
Lincoln
Booker
Gunner

I went to the States a few years ago and was surprised at how many men under the age of 30 were called Trevor.

Has anybody come across any babies that have names more common in the US?

I love Randy, short for Randall, but didn’t use it for obvious reasons!

Lacedwithgrace · 31/12/2021 20:47

Dd goes to school with a boy called Lynconn (Lincoln). His parents are American and are called Brett and Dolly 👀

Scarby9 · 31/12/2021 20:47

I know a couple of child Hunters and a child Parker. Yorkshire.

I know a Randy, short for Randolph.

notacooldad · 31/12/2021 20:49

I used to. I think he'll be about 60 now. He was/is English.

Clevs · 31/12/2021 20:49

I know a Lincoln.

Hunter has become popular over the last few years. My niece is due to have a baby boy soon and is going to call him Hunter.

PanicBuyingSprouts · 31/12/2021 20:52

Just reread your list and a colleague has a DS called Lincoln. I think it's becoming more popular.

gabsdot45 · 31/12/2021 20:54

I know an American guy called Randy and a little Irish boy called Hunter.
The worst name is Gobnet. This is an actual name given to baby girls in Ireland in the past. I met a woman called Gobnet once, she was my age. (51)

I know 2 Hunters

Zac/Zak seems American to me and I know 3 of them

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 31/12/2021 20:59

I once read (in an American mag) of a Randy Ponce.

We had American neighbours with a daughter called Brandy.

Pinetreesfall · 31/12/2021 20:59

I know a Randy. It's a shame I can't put his surname on here as it's too outing but let's just say it wouldn't be a common name unless you're in the porn industry!
My cousin called his son Hunter and then changed it not long after!

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 31/12/2021 21:01

Chase

amylou8 · 31/12/2021 21:11

Yes my neighbours son is called Randy, he's about 10.

Daisychainsandglitter · 31/12/2021 21:27

There's a boy in my DDs class named Randy. He's in year 3.

WaitinginVain · 31/12/2021 21:31

I know a 12 year old Hunter. I don't think it's that unusual in the UK.

RedHairAndAHandMeDownRobe · 31/12/2021 21:38

I was having this exact conversation with my eldest date yesterday
We came up with
Herb
Randy
Travis
Chad
Chuck
Mindy

TitoMojito · 31/12/2021 21:39

I haven't met anyone with any of those names! I know a lot of female Pats though. Just no Patty.

Notbluepeter · 31/12/2021 21:39

I lived in the states. Met loads of men named Chase, which I found odd because it's also the name of one of the largest banks there. Almost like being named TSB Smile

bloomingheck1 · 31/12/2021 21:40

Yes, he's 18 and ginger. His dad loves all thing American.

MargaretThursday · 31/12/2021 21:53

WildRosie · 31/12/2021 22:56

Not personally but I once read about an American pilot called Randy Starbuck. An unimaginable name in the UK.

Whyarewehardofthinking · 31/12/2021 22:57

Currently got both a Hunter and a Lincoln in the same year group.

Fatandfifty49 · 31/12/2021 22:58

Yes, I used to know a Randy but he wasn't English
