Has anyone EVER received their shopping for free due by scanning their Sparks card?

I am convinced it’s all one big fat lie. I don’t seem to get any good offers on my card anymore but always scan in the hope I’ll win all my shopping for free. It never happens though Sad

Anyone ever won?

I agree Sparks is one of the worst card schemes out there but agree with PP that I like the charitable donations to Shelter.

Boots advantage card is my fave - I always seem to get bonus points galore with bespoke offers available to load on my card which are always relevant.

I still get money off vouchers in the post from Waitrose but some months I don’t use them because the required spend is too much.
My suggestion is to make sure that you’ve ticked the box on your online account linked to card allowing them to send you information in he mail.

PlanetNormal · 30/12/2021 19:08

No. I was wondering the same thing as I scanned my sparks card for the billionth time yesterday without ever getting so much as a free prawn sandwich. I don’t know anyone who has ever got their shopping free, either. And the tight sods have stopped giving out ‘spend £40, save £5’ vouchers.

I’m rapidly falling out with M&S.

blessings2022 · 30/12/2021 19:13

Yes, I got a free £4 salad in November

duvetdayforeveryone · 30/12/2021 19:14

Yes. £19 worth of shopping for free Grin

PickAChew · 30/12/2021 19:16

Someone in front of me did and she only had a basket with bread and a couple of other bits, coming to about £6, in.

HungrySausage · 30/12/2021 20:33

I wonder how many people win a day. Any insiders from M&S on here to spill the beans???

Yes, my mum did, I was with her. It was about £36 worth as I recall.

Puffalicious · 30/12/2021 20:53

Not a proper 'insider' but DS17 has only just started his part-time job 5 weeks ago (really likes it) and he's already given 2 quite large shops away for free in Menswear. One was a wool coat!

Oh that is interesting!

I feel like I just need to persevere. I’m bound to win one day, right?!

Yup but not a big shop, some random groceries worth about £20. Definitely not the £220 Christmas shopping!

canary1 · 30/12/2021 21:52

Sparks card is pure rubbish compared to nectar, boots, Tesco... most things I think! They should get rid and give us something proper!

ScouseQueen · 30/12/2021 21:55

No, not yet and don't know anyone who has. I continue to scan in hope.

@EllieBellend The egg, tomato and salad cream sandwiches are v nice Grin I'd accept one as a freebie.

Returnoftheowl · 30/12/2021 22:21

No, absolutely nothing here and the offers are always rubbish. I know it's to encourage you to buy things you wouldn't normally buy... But all my offers are for things I'd never buy in the month of Sundays.

Tiredoftiers · 30/12/2021 22:26

I bought a Colin product the other week, for someone else. Just received an email welcoming me to all things Colin Hmm.

Seems to be used for data capture rather than any benefit to me.

MargaretHooper · 30/12/2021 22:28

Yes - the lady in front of me at the till 2 days ago. She had a full trolley load and was thrilled, as was the rest of the queue!

Puffalicious · 30/12/2021 22:29

He did say that the other free shop was a wee, old lady who was a bit confused and kept asking him to repeat what she owed. He said it was very sweet as the manager came, explained again and took her off for a little seat and a mince pie.

Puffalicious · 30/12/2021 22:31

Sorry, my son who works there.

MysticCT · 30/12/2021 22:31

I won £250, it was loaded onto a digital gift card on my Sparks account last year. That was a lovely surprise as I'm not normally very lucky at winning anything Smile

Bailey415 · 30/12/2021 22:52

A family member of mine is a manger at M&S food hall...told me once of a time where a lady with a huge shop full of 2 trolleys let another customer with a few things go infront of her to save time at the till and they got the free shop! How gutted would you be!? Grin

Ironmanrocks · 30/12/2021 23:00

@Bailey415 is it random then? As in, the next person to scan a sparks card on that till - not your specific sparks card? I assumed that it was your specific card that had been 'chosen' that day? So with my way of thinking the other lady would never have had it... clearly I have no clue...

AsYouWishButtercup · 30/12/2021 23:01

A colleague did, after putting a tenners worth of stuff back thinking she didn’t need any of it Grin

reluctantbrit · 30/12/2021 23:07

Sparks is a disaster, I don't bother anymore. They don't even do weekly offers I think.

Waitrose is only good because I need it for the self scanning thingy, no way I can survive shopping with DH and queuing at a till. If I go on my own it is just quicker as well. We get vouchers fairly randomly and I am still thinkgin 50p of a bottle of wine is stingy.
