Has anyone EVER received their shopping for free due by scanning their Sparks card?

I am convinced it’s all one big fat lie. I don’t seem to get any good offers on my card anymore but always scan in the hope I’ll win all my shopping for free. It never happens though Sad

Anyone ever won?

Waitrose card used to get you a free coffee.

That seems to have all stopped because of Covid. Hmm The bakery counter at my local store is still closed too.

Lacedwithgrace · 30/12/2021 15:31

I have, it was about £20 and my second trip of the day after I'd already spent £200 that morning 😑

LifeIsTricky · 30/12/2021 15:38

Yes! Me! A week ago, I honestly thought it was all a con and that nobody ever won it, and then the lady scanned my card and said congratulations we are treating you today. I nearly died on the spot, I never win anything

user1486915549 · 30/12/2021 15:48

Yes. 3 weeks ago in Waterloo at the self service food.
About £25

wavecatcher · 30/12/2021 15:54

I'm so intrigued by this also, looks like not the biggest value is given away though.

purplecorkheart · 30/12/2021 15:55

Sparks cards have just been introduced in Rep of Ireland. So far I got a free shopping bag. You would swear it was made of gold the way the assistant gave it to me. She advised me to alternate between the short and long straps and to avoid items with sharp corners.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 30/12/2021 15:58

I haven’t but I have had a few shop from scanning my Superdrug card. It was a big one as well!

cowbag1 · 30/12/2021 16:00

Yes, me a few months ago! My shop was £72; only a jumper and tights for me, the rest was uniform and food.

EllieBellend · 30/12/2021 16:05

Was it a good sandwich though?

Haha, yes it was. M&S tomato, egg & saladcream are the best! Didn't make up for not getting a full shop though!

londonmummy1966 · 30/12/2021 16:06

Not me but someone at the next till to me a couple of months ago. SHe was thrilled.

DisforDarkChocolate · 30/12/2021 16:10

I, and I deliberately don't scan it when it's good I can claim back through work. Ib be well pissed off if I won a sandwich and a bag of crisps.

I do scan my card the rest of the time, I like money going to my charity (Shelter).

Warmduscher · 30/12/2021 16:11

The Sparks card has to be the worst one ever. I really can’t see the point of it. Unlike Tesco’s clubcard - I use the points to get the DC’s young person’s railcards for £10 instead of £30 every year Smile

Foolsrule · 30/12/2021 16:32

I hate Sparks. What a waste of time. Bought £1000s of M&S furniture a few years back, had 1000s of Sparks points and then they wiped them all and reset. Worth sweet FA.

Exhausteddog · 30/12/2021 16:44

I bought some slippers for DD in M and S today and they asked if I had a sparks card. (I dont) DD asked what it was but I couldn't decide if it was a m and S credit card or like a tesco club card (or boots points)

Exhausteddog · 30/12/2021 16:47

YES I did!! Last year. Sadly on that occasion I had only picked up a couple of reduced pizzas, grand total less than £5...

I didn't think it would be possible to get 2 pizzas for less than a fiver in m and s even if they were reduced.

Most of the reductions I ever see in M and S (or waitrose) are something like was £4.99 now £4.80.

HotDogJumpingFrogAlbuquerque · 30/12/2021 16:51

No free shopping but I have had a lot of free gifts added to my card to pick up in store, ones I can remember are

3 Apothecary candles
2 Apothecary hand creams
£5 off anything

And currently got 3 weeks to go and get some free underwear 🩲

HotDogJumpingFrogAlbuquerque · 30/12/2021 16:54

Meant to say ‘no free shopping when you get to checkout’ oops 😬

ParkheadParadise · 30/12/2021 16:58

Not me
I spend £££'s in M&S foodhall every week.
Don't even get free Percy pigs anymore .

This made me chuckle. I remember getting my free bag and don’t remember such a fuss made but it is, in fairness, my favourite shopping bag.

Not long after it was introduced I got 20% off mens shirts when they scanned my card. I happened to be buying a men's work shirt among other items. The assistant said how lucky I was!
Until I walked back through menswear to get to the exit when I saw a sign saying '20% off shirts.' Which I hadn't noticed at the time.

Hmmm...

Nowt since.

Newyearoldyou · 30/12/2021 17:27

Wairose used to be great, free paper!!
They are all crap except tesco and h and m

RustySprings · 30/12/2021 17:38

I know two people who did. One friend who had a whole basket full of shopping for free, and another who was buying two of the snowglobe bottles of gin for Xmas presents! So I live in hope and keep swiping!

coffeepleeease · 30/12/2021 17:45

My MIL did, and wished she'd done a big shop 😂

AcerLady · 30/12/2021 17:46

I did! Last year, it was about £12. Better than nothing Smile

Madcats · 30/12/2021 17:47

I ended up with a Sparks card last Summer after getting the hard sell from a till assistant (I imagine she was on commission or there was a staff bonus on the cards). She CLAIMED that somebody she'd given a card to had popped back in to tell her they'd scooped about £200 with a free clothing shop.

I was offered discounted Gary Barlow tickets and some truffles and some baubles I couldn't find in store.

I get the occasional free paper from Waitrose (didn't like their coffee so I don't miss that) and I think a few items get discounted for loyalty cardholders. Tesco seem to do a few of these too.
