How do you store spare duvets and pillows?

Literally just that. We seem to have accumulated a few and they are taking up so much space in our box room!

One set is in an airing cupboard in the bathroom, others are in zip-up storage bags under beds.

BeLessMe · 28/12/2021 22:14

They have a shelf in the wardrobe but we got rid of a load. We now only have two sets for each bed. One to wash and one to have on.

We have some in the Hot Press. The attic would be another option. Our box room is too full as it is.

Firstly, do a clear out. Then the spare set for each bed (wash one, use one), can go in the person's closet or dresser.

Jsgdud · 28/12/2021 22:18

In vacuum packed bags from Wilkos. Takes up a lot less space that way.

RosesAndHellebores · 28/12/2021 22:19

Atic in those plaid laundry bags. Although a few have failed to return from uni with the dc.

Justkeeppedaling · 28/12/2021 22:19

We don't have spare duvets and pillows. We have one duvet for each bed and two pillows for each bed (4 for the double beds). They are ask on the beds.

Asiama · 28/12/2021 22:20

Thank you all! Just to be clear, I mean actual duvets, not duvet covers.

I was considering vacuum packing but was worried they might get damaged / not fluff up again?

Vacuum pack them. They're fine

Jsgdud · 28/12/2021 22:21

I read it as duvets (not duvet covers). We have a summer one and a winter one. So summer one goes in vacuum packed bag under bed/in cupboard during winter and visa versa. (no spare pillows).

BigFatLiar · 28/12/2021 22:21

Vacuum pack is good, just make sure you get bags that seal properly.

Asiama · 28/12/2021 22:22

@Justkeeppedaling I wish we were the same but I am outnumbered by people who want different tog ratings for different seasons!

Feel quite embarrassed that I'm approaching 40 and haven't worked this out Blush

I've got a massive, walk-in airing cupboard, just get one of those.

Sorry, not helpful!

Fruitinator · 28/12/2021 22:23

Vacuum packed, in the top of the airing cupboard.

Never had any damage or problems with vacuum packing. Stuff always fluffy back up.

We store winter puffa jackets and jumpers like this too.

Asiama · 28/12/2021 22:23

@KenDodd that would be my dream!!

In Ikea zip up storage bags in the top of the airing cupboard. We have summer and winter duvets and a pull out single to double bed in one DCs room that needs extra bedding for guests.

Asiama · 28/12/2021 22:23

Ooooh @Fruitinator, hadn't considered this for winter clothes!

GTAlogic · 28/12/2021 22:24

We only have 2 (our thicker double duvet and a single one) and store them in the drawers under our divan bed along with the bedding and towels,

Change123today · 28/12/2021 22:24

Vacuum pack under the bed.

GoldMoon · 28/12/2021 22:26

I have 2 cupboards in my hallway. One houses the go over , some coats we don't really use and our spare duvets , curtains and stuff like that.

SomethingSuss · 28/12/2021 22:28

Vacuum pack bags under the bed. Those things are crazy! Huge duvets are made teeny tiny!

postcardfromme · 28/12/2021 22:29

Sorry stupid question...do you need a proper vacuum for these bags? I have floor boards so I don't have a vacuum

Bedsheets4knickers · 28/12/2021 22:31

Another one for vacuum bags . We have winter and summer duvets and spare pillows for guests if it wasn't for those bags we'd have them falling out of cupboards.
