It’s Christmas Day! Will you be leaving your house today?

We’re hosting as always plus it’s cold, grey and drizzly outside. I feel it’s unlikely we’ll be heading out of the house at all today. How common is that?

I rarely stay in all day, regardless of what day it is

Already been for a 5k and I’ll go for a 5 k walk later. About 4pm with my headtorch on

Quidity · 25/12/2021 12:52

I've been for a 5K and had a swim this morning so I feel justified in staying in the rest of the day!

delilahbucket · 25/12/2021 13:05

We never do. It's just the three of us. dH is doing a jigsaw with DS while I watch rubbish on tv and read MN. Will be going to start Christmas dinner soon.

The kids went to walk the dogs at the country park this morning and they will need a walk later but not sure if I shall venture out.

Hm2020 · 25/12/2021 13:13

I had to run to the corner shop for a charger but no as I’ve been up all night with a migraine vomiting.

MajesticWhine · 25/12/2021 13:16

Normally I would walk the dogs but I have covid so I won't be leaving the house until next Friday at the earliest. We usually have a drink outside in the street with our neighbours and DD and DH did this earlier.

garlictwist · 25/12/2021 13:27

Sunny here in Scotland. We have been for a little bike ride. That's enough for me!

Nc123 · 25/12/2021 13:29

We never go out on Christmas Day. We have a very active Christmas Eve so that Christmas Day can be a pyjama day.

maddiemookins16mum · 25/12/2021 13:32

Yes, have dropped MIL at Church, collected her, dropped DD at her bf for a bit (brunch) then DH will collect them both when he comes off shift at 3pm for dinner here about 5/6pm. We’ll drop bf home much later tonight.

SpideySenseTingles · 25/12/2021 13:33

Went to a church service this morning and will be going to an aunts house for Christmas Dinner in a couple of hours. It's going to be our first family gathering in two years so really looking forward to it.

Helps that the extended family is very chilled out and the kids are all of similar ages.

megletthesecond · 25/12/2021 13:41

Yes. Been to parkrun and will go for a walk later. Its grey and rainy but my IBS is awful so I need to keep active.

TrueGrit54 · 25/12/2021 13:43

Yes, we are rural and surrounded by fields so we do wander around but it’s more to get logs, keep an eye on dogs, shoot a pigeon for the red kites, check mole traps bloomin ninjas we never get them) one way or another we all get some fresh air before an early Christmas dinner (rather than lunch). If we were in town I don’t think we would stir out.

deathofastrawberry · 25/12/2021 14:49

Left the house to walk the dog but that's it. Having a relaxed one this year as we feel deserving of it.. it's been such a mad year and it's our baby's first Christmas. Still seeing family but not for Christmas lunch just for a drink at ours later on.

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas 🎅🏻

Cookies4Claus · 25/12/2021 15:00

It’s not raining where I am, a bit mild and I really want to go out for a walk. It’s usually heaving with people so would be nice and quiet.....but I’m in Rudolph pyjamas and VERY pleasantly pished so I don’t know Xmas Grin

Theunamedcat · 25/12/2021 15:02

We usually go for a walk around the estate but I've tested positive so unless dd does it they won't be going

Walkerbean16 · 25/12/2021 15:03

No as we have Covid again. Second Christmas in a row!

clpsmum · 25/12/2021 15:08

My do who lives. Lose to me has gone to his DDs for dinner I offered to collect him so he can have a drink. That's the only time I'm leaving the house!

KohlaParasaurus · 25/12/2021 15:13

Yes, an impulse decision to toddle round the nearest working parkrun in my most festive outfit before settling down to food and television.

bobsholi · 25/12/2021 15:14

We always go out on Christmas day. DD and DS had an impromptu swim in the sea fully clothed!

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 25/12/2021 15:16

Had a run in the morning and the dogs refused to walk themselves, the bastards.

HardbackWriter · 25/12/2021 15:16

Took the DC (preschooler and baby) out for a walk/splash in the puddles while DH made our Christmas dinner. We're just out of self-isolation after DS1 had Covid so it was blissful to be out even though it's a grotty day! I try very hard to never have a day where I don't leave the house (unless I'm ill) for mental health reasons - I feel really crappy by the evening if I've been in all day and even a 10 minute walk to the shop really lifts me.

SarahJessicaParker1 · 25/12/2021 15:17

Yeah, we just went for a shortish walk earlier and I'll go again later. Otherwise staying put

dhdislsndh · 25/12/2021 15:20

No we won't be leaving the house today. After many years of cramming in relatives all day the last 5 years we have stayed at home all day, not even changed out of our pjs until before Christmas dinner when we get into a fresh pair! Going out tomorrow for lunch with family and then back home to chill

KirkstallAbbess · 25/12/2021 15:21

Worked until 10:00 then out for a long walk up a big hill. 😊

CeibaTree · 25/12/2021 15:31

Children go a bit too crazy if we don't take them out to burn off some energy so we went for a hours walk in the woods earlier. If it was just adults though I don't think we would have bothered although I really enjoyed it once we were there.
