Shall we go stay?
If people are staying away hopefully the theatre won't be packed, apparently they have good air ventilation which cleans the air?
We can drive in and get a taxi to avoid public transport. Not sure what to do.
All boosted a week ago, perhaps not long enough?
Dc recently had covid in late Sept /October.

I don't blame anyone for the spreading it Hmm

And yes, tubes and buses are crowded and cheek by jowl.

I think Theatres are a high risk environment. Unfortunately there is a very high chance of catching it in London so I think you should assume you will be exposed to it and make your decision based on that.

Annie I agree but it was impressed by the information on air filtration they sent

We saw Prince of Egypt and felt very safe.Hands down the best show I have ever seen! It beats Les Mis and Lion King !
Because the theatre was half full as well there were no queues for the toilets either @Imdreamingofapeacefulxmas so enjoy yourself and just take handgel

Molly (love the name BTW) thanks. Yes have identifed loos as potential hot spot but again they reassure that loos are ventilation

I've got tickets for something on Monday - planning to go, but not eat at restaurant beforehand as at least in theatre people aren't talking and I think, from evidence of London this week, will finally all be wearing bloody masks. TBH, it's less risky than our kids being in school the last few weeks, is how I think of it.

Big difference for us though is that we don't celebrate Christmas. We've not (apparently) had COVID yet, despite two kids in school so I'm resigned to catching it eventually and if we catch it from this, we catch it from this and missing Xmas is a non-issue.

Off the top of my head some of the cancellations today...

HAMILTON
DEAR EVAN HANSEN
MAMA MIA
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie
THE BOOK OF MORMON
SIX
THE LION KING
COME FROM AWAY

I would be planning not to go at this stage.

Echobelly · 17/12/2021 19:42

@reluctantbrit - I'm wearing FFP2 masks now to go on public transport/anything longer than popping into a shop.

santasmuma · 17/12/2021 19:52

Oh just realised it's tonight!! Never mind. I hope all is well and you enjoy the show OP

Theatre in Edinburgh today. It was fine. Lots of empty seats.

KateF · 17/12/2021 20:39

My one birthday present was going to see Mamma Mia tomorrow. Just found out it's cancelled due to cast members having Covid ☹️

thirddayout · 17/12/2021 20:41

When I travel on the tube (not very often), I travel at the seat at the far end of the end carriage. No-one is going to walk past me, so I reduce the possibility by a lot.

thirddayout · 17/12/2021 20:42

@Imdreamingofapeacefulxmas not of much help to the OP, but I know who I blame for the level, and he has blonde hair.

LibbyL92 · 17/12/2021 20:53

I’m seeing pretty woman next week. I shall be going.

IsadoraQuagmire · 17/12/2021 21:04

You know there's a tube strike tomorrow? The roads will be busier because of that. I wouldn't give going to the theatre a second thought, I go at least once a week, I use public transport a lot, live in central London, so do all my friends and my parents and I don't know anyone at all who has had covid. So it's possible to spend all your time in London and not catch it Grin

Oh sorry I have no idea why I though 7am was yesterday Blush

PassingByAndThoughtIdDropIn · 17/12/2021 22:27

The reason for being twitchy about London isn't because it's large and crowded - it was large and crowded a month ago and the rates were pretty much the lowest in the country and it was fine.
The reason for being twitchy about London is that rates have gone through the roof over the last fortnight and are now the highest in the country.

That said, after three vaccines and a recent uncomplicated case of Covid, I'd happily go to the theatre if catching Covid wouldn't throw my Christmas plans into chaos.

Eightmagpies · 18/12/2021 09:44

We are supposed to be travelling to London today for the RAH. We've decided not to go on the basis that I haven't had booster, rates are through the roof, and it could ruin xmas for the family. We can't get a refund which is fair enough.
