We had our KS2 nativity in the church today. It brought much joy and an occasion for the children to rise to. It was filmed too for those preferring not to attend.

rightly or wrongly, I felt glad we'd gone ahead.

Dd's went ahead today as well.
It was in the local chapel next to the school.
I was more than happy to attend as were all the other parents.
Class party tomorrow.

Horseradish01 · 15/12/2021 18:35

to be blunt - twas rubbish. 1.5 hours outside , children freezing with costumes prioritised over coats , no photos allowed , not festive at all. I’d rather it not have gone ahead or they uninvite the audience , film it inside and send to parents.

Yours sounds brilliant @seethesuninwintertime

Ours went ahead. Parents masked and the nativity happened as normal.

It went ahead. Only one person allowed to view per household. All parents had to mask up and were asked to LFT beforehand.

BestZebbie · 15/12/2021 18:42

Three performances in the school hall yesterday and today so every household could have two socially distanced spaces to watch, lft and mask required for adult entry. Also streamed on zoom and also recorded on a non-shareable link on google classroom.

AndAllOurYesterdays · 15/12/2021 18:43

Ours went ahead. Two people per family, socially distanced seating, masks and requested LFTs. It was so lovely to see the kids and I'm really glad our school took the risk. But it's a small year group and a.large hall so see why they were able to where other schools were not

bingandsula · 15/12/2021 18:44

It went ahead. School erected giant wedding style marquees outside in playground with all sides open for fresh air to circulate everyone LFT beforehand and masks. Lots of photos and videos Children wore lots of layers underneath costume to keep warm. It was fab and a little bit of normality for children who have missed so so much in their little lives

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 15/12/2021 18:44

In a hall- spaced seats in pairs, parents in masks- 30min singing show- we all loved it and made my Christmas

TheChosenTwo · 15/12/2021 18:44

We have filmed a Carol concert. Class by class we went to our church to record it and it’s been sent out to parents. We did the same last year but stood out in the playground as I believe churches weren’t open at that point (I might be wrong but whatever, we did it in the playground).
It’s a bit of a shame as parents will most likely just skip to their dcs class performance and won’t bother watched the whole 50 minutes or however long it is Grin but we’ve done what we can in a school that is absolutely riddled with Covid and incredibly short staffed because of it. We had 2 parents being a bit shitty about it because ‘other schools have managed to do more’ but we are trying to focus on the lovely messages we’ve had. We are on our knees and that we have managed to do SOMETHING is enough for us right now Confused

PurplePikachu · 15/12/2021 18:45

Masks, no social distancing, no request to do LFT or show covid pass or anything. For me it was a small risk but worth it, I was glad to be able to watch it in person.

Senmumm2021 · 15/12/2021 18:48

It wants ahead outside. Was fabulous. Made loads of money for school funds. Everyone was happy.

DockOTheBay · 15/12/2021 18:49

They did 3 performances so only a third of parents invited to each one, chairs spaced out, masks and LFTs requested. It felt very normal and sensible. They also did a recording for those who couldn't attend.

Doggoo · 15/12/2021 18:50

Recorded online, separately in each classroom so none of the kids saw it come together with the other years. Told it won’t even be sent to us until some point in the new year. We were informed it was cancelled the day before the first performances.
Kids were all really upset. Fed up. Feel it was the wrong call, no covid cases in their school recently and this was something everyone was looking forward too.

MaryChristmouse · 15/12/2021 18:53

Everything cancelled- including the nativity, church service (christingle), Santa visiting the a school and the school orchestra concert. 'Cos covid'.

Kids have had had an Xmas jumper day, done some xmas crafts and have a xmas lunch option on the lunch menu on the last day.

DS doesn't seem to bothered!

Thinkbiglittleone · 15/12/2021 18:54

We had ours, parents had to wear mask and do a Lateral flow test before so no big deal

We couldn't record it but had nothing to do with Covid obviously,@Doggoo I think that's awful on the kids that they were let down after practising and getting so excited, how sad for them.

MissisBee · 15/12/2021 18:54

Ours was recorded, we'll get it on Friday. I'm fine with that. My son's only in P1, so I have no expectations

Shadowboy · 15/12/2021 18:55

Went ahead in the church. Masks worn. No food or drink served but other than that it was normal.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 15/12/2021 18:55

Currently watching DD’s on Zoom.

JaninaDuszejko · 15/12/2021 19:05

Our school did class asemblies for the parents rather than having the usual whole school nativity event. It was nice, kids were in their Christmas Jumpers, they all got their chance to say a couple of lines and they sang a few songs. Bit more low key. Parents all masked up.

RosieLemonade · 15/12/2021 19:06

My daughter's school had parents in but masked and socially distanced. My school everything was recorded and then uploaded on to school website.

JustLyra · 15/12/2021 19:13

Nativity/Christmas show went ahead.

Since the summer the HT has had the school basically split into three groups (she and the DHT sat down and worked out all the sibling group permutations) to allow some mixing, but minimal spreading.

It was actually lovely as with far fewer classes in the show each class got to do a bit more (they all basically did the same show).

Parents were socially distanced in the hall and had to LFT beforehand.

MiniatureHotdog · 15/12/2021 19:16

It was filmed only, but they only decided that at the last minute. All the parents are quite rightly very inhappy about it. The wrong decision.

EcoCustard · 15/12/2021 19:18

Ours went ahead in the local church, parents asked to wear a mask and take an LFT prior to coming. All given designated seating. All other events have gone ahead this year too. Very happy all went ahead after last year.

Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep · 15/12/2021 19:19

A nativity themed call concert in the playground, strung all about with fairy lights. It was fucking beautiful, short and sweet, the kids and teachers did a cracking job and my very adhd boy was able to join in just like all his classmates for once. Reader, I cried. Just a little bit. And nobody knew it was me with a hat, puffa coat and mask on!
