Is anyone up? Waiting on ambulance and could do with a handhold

I am so scared. I am having chest pain (not significant, just a tightening) but so many palpatations over the past 36 hours that have suddenly started happening all the time, not just when lying flat like last night.

Ambulance called (via 111) but they cant say how long it will be, which I understand.

I have DD2(14) upstairs and awake, worrying. DD1(24) is still asleep as she has additional needs and I dont want to worry her and then have to leave. DD2 is under instructions what to do in the morning if I am not here.

I am scared. Did I mention that Blush I am nearly 50, morbidly obese due to health issues and feeling that I can't breathe.

I hope everything is ok, try not to worry. If you do have to go hospital then it’s the best place for you 💐

junebirthdaygirl · 13/12/2021 23:45

Could you possibly have Covid as l had a lot of palpitations when l had it recently

YetAnotherUserNameForMe · 13/12/2021 23:47

@Starcup

I went through a stage of palpitations that became more noticeable.

Once I noticed them, they seemed to get worse as I’d start panicking and then I’d feel a cold sweat and that I was going to pass out.

Turned out to be totally fine but it is terrifying. Your body tenses up and that can create a pain.

I also know a guy who ended up in A&E with chest pain and palpitations but it was a panic attack.

I’m not minimising it OP it’s just there could be another explanation. Let us know how you get on xxx

That's exactly what I am experiencing Starcup and I do think that maybe it is anxiety, I dont think it is a panic attack as I usually have those and would be unable to type on here for example.

I hope the ambulance people dont think I am wasting their time.

Holding your hand too. I hope the ambulance doesn't take too long. Is your phone fully charged? And don't forget to take your charger with you.

YetAnotherUserNameForMe · 13/12/2021 23:48

@AmIgoinghomeforXmas

I agree pack everything you might need. Better to have it than not.

Hopefully the ambulance will come soon.
Is it too far away to take a taxi there?

I did ask if I should make my own way there, they said no - that I was highest priority so to just stay put.

Thank you to all for the good wishes.

Yep, don’t gallop around packing, just keep reading calmly here. If you have any meds you take get ds to get them because they’ll ask. Have a light on outside, and get ds to open it to them when they come.

Hand hold and I can tell you my Christmas tree disaster story if you feel a smile will help

NovemberNovemberDarkNights · 13/12/2021 23:50

Another hand to hold x

Have you packed a bag?

Phone charger
Several pairs of pants
T shirts
Jamie/tracksuit/leggings
Dressing gown
Toothbrush & toothpaste
Deodorant
Slip on shoes/slippers
Hairbrush/hair ties
Book
Notebook/pen
Bottle of water
Wet wipes
Tissues

I hope the ambulance isn't too long & you get admitted quickly.

I hope it's something & nothing that they can sort out for you.

Is there not an adult you can call to come & spend the night. Your DD14 is very young to be left worrying (essentially) by herself.

AmIgoinghomeforXmas · 13/12/2021 23:50

If you are to wait at home because you are the highest priority than hopefully they will be there shortly.

Bunnyfuller · 13/12/2021 23:51

You don’t run around packing with chest pains and SOB. Sit down and just keep as calm as you can.

IKnowAPlace · 13/12/2021 23:51

I hope your ambulance arrives soon x

IncessantNameChanger · 13/12/2021 23:52

Have you got a power lead and power bank? Or charge your mobile while you wait? There not else to do in hospital but play about on the phone and there will be charging points in a&e.

I didnt take my cpap when rushed to hospital earlier in the year, but I was told I needed it the next day. I had to be in side room with it due to covid risks to others.

Not another adult locally, but family members are aware and are at the end of the phone for her, and can get here within a few hours if needed. DD2 can cope with worrying over me (she is used to it sadly) but I really dont want her worrying over and trying to calm DD1 at the same time.

They will be relived if it turns out to be nothing OP. At the end of the day 111 have advised it do there’ll be no judgment from them at all.

I found out sitting down with a glass of cold water and to try to focus on my breathing.

I also found that wringing my lower legs distracted me a bit and helped… xx

Starcup · 13/12/2021 23:57

I know my last sentence sounds crackers but it was my things to focus on

NovemberNovemberDarkNights · 13/12/2021 23:59

@YetAnotherUserNameForMe
The Ambo's won't think you're wasting their time. They'll either be pleased to be able to get you sorted at home or take you in if they think you need to go. Do not be worrying about them.

GutsInMay · 14/12/2021 00:00

Slow breathing, OP, in through your nose, out through your mouth, or as we always said to the kids “smell the cake, blow out the candles”. But slow and steady.

Relax your toes, relax your tongue.

Blossom64265 · 14/12/2021 00:04

If you aren’t feeling great, just make sure you have your phone charger and if you own them and have them handy, bring a power bank and headphones. If you aren’t wearing comfortable clothing, change into comfortable clothing. A few basic toiletries are a plus, but unless you have needs for specific products, these can often be found in the hospital so I wouldn’t worry about them.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 14/12/2021 00:04

Paramedics are amazing. They'd always rather help you out at home and be glad you called to be on the safe side. It's part of their job and they get called out for all sorts of things - 111 told you what to do and you followed their instructions. Fingers crossed for you that they can reassure / treat you and you can stay home tonight Thanks

PatterPaws · 14/12/2021 00:05

Good luck OP.

AmIgoinghomeforXmas · 14/12/2021 00:06

I too have a Xmas 🌲 disaster story for you.

We were living in Latin America, in a house with a ridiculously large entrance way.
So I lived out every Xmas fantasy dream and got a tree so large my 6 4 husband could barely reach to top when standing on a step ladder.
I spent the whole day decorating it before a large work party we were hosting the next day.

During the night it cracked off the stand it had come with and crashed onto the tile floor, shattering baubles everywhere.

Because we were temporarily living abroad, we had no tools, it was the festive period so there no shops open and we had a massive formal party that day.

We had to saw the base of the tree off with a tiny hacksaw and tie the tree to the balcony with a bright yellow washing line keep it upright. It took all day to sort out and we had blisters on our hands.

I have only had small trees since then and mostly non breakable ornaments.

Hollyhobbi · 14/12/2021 00:06

Do you have a thyroid problem op?
