I've been asked by multiple family members what I would like for Christmas and I'm completely stumped, I have no clue. They're becoming insistent so I thought of asking you all what you guys would really like for Christmas? Maybe I'll get some inspo!

A new mug for work because I’ve binned my current one. It says ‘I’d rather be with my horse’ who was put to sleep on Tuesday. I can’t bear to use it, it makes me cry.

If you're not particularly bothered about receiving significant presents, I'd tell people that what you really want is to step back from the madness and not exchange gifts going forward, except token consumables.

Because most of the things suggested, people can just buy them when they want them, and they want to choose the make/model/colour/size or whatever which then leads to having extremely specific 'buy me X item from Y shop' requests so it's right, and then it's completely pointless and you might as well just buy what you want, when you want it.

Then just ask for expensive bubble bath, gin, fizzy wine, posh cheese, chocolate or whatever your personal indulgence is.

And if people push back, remind them that they asked you what you want, and what you want is to not have the mental load of exchanging presents between adults who could just go ahead and buy things when they want them.

Preach!!!! I'm SICK of it. I'm a 35 year old woman, i buy my own things when I want them. I don't need an arbitrary day to receive things. And if I know what I'm getting.... Well that's just sad surely? Isn't a bit sad that people fail to imaginatively think of you when choosing something?

I don’t want or need anything either.
But DH wants me to do a list so he and the kids can get me something to open. After looking through the ideas on this thread I am thinking maybe.

A nice new everyday lipstick I haven’t bought any since pre pandemic think maybe Charlotte Tilbury or Beauty and the boutique.
A new oil for my Neom mini diffuser.
I would like a nice everyday necklace as my current go to one is tatty but the shop I bought it from has closed down and I have no idea where to get a replacement. The one I have I tie in a bow on the back so I can wear it different lengths, its kind of gold and beige colour subtle different shape wooden beads.

A new pair of earrings, which I ordered from etsy.
The new Jodi Picoult book
Lush Pansy body cream.

I dont have a big family and we don't buy mahoosive gifts. I bought the earrings myself for the DCs to give to me.

I'm with the don't get anything you don't need brigade. I want happy Christmas, to see family, to not argue, to all be healthy.

Had this discussion with mum yesterday she was quite insistent till I pointed out how generous they are....they buy for the kids, they are hosting Xmas lunch, they have paid for a holiday next year......I don't need a box under the tree as well.
